“The magic sword I made with the negative emotions, the anger inside me… Was a failure. That was when I thought that maybe there was no point to what I was doing.”
Angel was surprised, thinking Neid might actually be aware that he was wrong. But that was before, and at this point, Neid was convinced that he was doing the right thing.
But then what twisted his feelings this way? She thought it was puzzling, but Neid started talking about just that.
“There was no point in making magic swords. I wondered if I should ignore the honeyed words of the person who gave me this hammer, and make proper magic items. If I got better and better, and became a technician that no magic knight could ignore, maybe that would raise the positions of magic item technicians as a whole. But… I quickly came to learn just how far off the mark I was.”
“…What happened?”
“Didn’t I tell you? I was betrayed. That guy Isaac… Betrayed me! He acted all friendly with me, but then abandoned me for you!!”
Isaac yelled with pain and anger, and his expression clearly showed the anguish and humiliation he felt.
Angel thought back to what he described, and answered with a grave expression.
“…You saw that? You were nearby when he talked to me?”
“Yes! Do you know how miserable I felt…!? You do, don’t you!? He didn’t pick you because you’re better, he picked you because you’re a girl! A beautiful girl with a big chest and butt, and he abandoned me to try to get his hands on you! No, he never cared about me! I was just a placeholder until he could get you!”
Yelled Neid, before he crumpled to the floor.
Angel’s chest hurt at how much sorrow he was feeling, but he continued speaking as if pleading with her.
“I valued him. He was a guy that got materials for me, and even went after people I didn’t like. He’d do anything for me, but this is the result. When he betrayed me, I realized magic knights are all the same. Making magic items to equip them is stupid… I should be using them instead.”
Neid clenched his left hand, and it trembled as he got back up.
“I swung this hammer! I used the materials I got from Isaac, and made magic swords with all my hatred, anger, and sadness! I could feel myself getting better at it, and that feeling of accomplishment fueled me as I made more!
If I perfect this technique… I can make the ultimate magic item that can turn anyone into the strongest human on this planet! With my magic swords, a new age will come where anyone can be strong even without training!”
“No way! If you do that, the magic swords are going to turn people crazy and this world will be filled with people killing each other! Is that the world you want to live in, Neid!?”
“No problem. I just have to work it so the swords follow the will of their creator. Everyone will be puppets to us, magic item technicians. Then we can protect the peace, and secure the highest position. Isn’t that the best?”
“Neid, you…!!”
Angel was about to call him mad, but realized that was pointless. Such a stale line did not properly express the madness surrounding Neid.
Magic swords that controlled people’s minds and made them act according to his will… Neid’s true goal was to turn magic item technicians into a class that ruled all humans.
As a result of his anger exploding after his betrayal threw him into despair, he hated the world to the point of madness, and his delusions grew and grew.
“Yes, yes! I am the savior of magic item technicians! I will use the trash we call magic knights and rule the world! Guha! Guhaha! Gugyagyagyagya!!”
“Neid…!?”
As Neid laughed loudly, the magic energy exuding from the hammer enveloped him.
That voice gradually lost the feeling that reasoning was behind it, and Angel was at a loss for words as he became something that resembled a monster. Neid, enveloped in magic energy, looked very different as he stood in front of Angel.
“Gihyahahahahaha! This feels awesome…!! I can do anything! I’m invincible!!”
It was that same dark red magic energy.
Neid’s body turned into a big mass of muscles of the same color, with one big eye.
The hammer itself also grew to match his size, and the one eyed demon… This cyclops, drowned in the elation brought on by this new power.
If Isaac was awake… He would have received a message directly in his brain.
Instead, the cruel message that was sent before because of Rush and signaled that a person had turned into a monster echoed in emptiness and disappeared.
‘Neid Garn’s fate has been extinguished. He has been removed from your party, and can never join again.’
