“Then try it! I’ll smack you down with the resentment I’ve been building up!!”
Neid roared with hatred, and attacked Yuugo with the now giant hammer.
He used the power of his cyclops form in that attack, but his movements were too slow and direct to hit Yuugo, who easily saw through them.
He jumped before his opponent was even ready to attack, and used the momentum to hit his face with his clenched fist.
The counter that hit cleanly made Neid stumble, but… It appeared it did not hurt all that much.
“Guh…! Damn you…!!”
“…Not good enough, uh? This cyclops is as tough as he looks.”
It was not as though it completely failed, but it would not deal decisive damage.
The single-eyed giant was tough, and the fact that it was so simple also meant its strength was quite troublesome.
It was by no coincidence that Neid turned into this monster armor beast.
He was not particularly adept at fighting, so rather than him turning into a monster that could perform intricate moves and had good techniques, he benefited from turning into a monster that was all about overwhelming power.
Yuugo read the intentions of the black hooded person who stood behind Neid, and felt he was right while dodging another attack, followed by him thinking about how to proceed from there.
(How should I attack? It’s fine if the fight goes on for a while, but if I get careless and take damage, that might end the fight right there…)
Yuugo felt no hurry to take Neid down. If it came to that, he just had to hold him there.
Neid’s situation worsened the more time passed. The possibility that Marcos and the others, and also the guards, arrived kept increasing.
The problem was the power of Neid’s cyclops form… If he managed to land one good hit, he might end up winning.
Prolonging the fight would give Yuugo time for his friends to join him, but increased the odds that Neid would land a lucky punch.
Even as he thought that, the friends that sent him there were fighting bravely to protect the city and its people. And making them also fight Neid was surely not very heroic of Yuugo.
He decided to settle this himself, for the sake of the friends who believed in him as well.
“Outta my way! Outta my way outta my way outta my way!! Why is scum getting in my way!?”
Even if Yuugo decided to not prolong this fight, Neid was still just as flustered.
From his perspective, he still had to take Yuugo down before his reinforcements could arrive.
That was what Yuugo needed to take advantage of. That eagerness to end the fight as fast as possible.
He continued dealing with Neid’s attacks, thinking that if he could rob his opponent of his fighting spirit, that would be the best.
“Fuh, ah!!”
“Gaguh!? Guhaah!?”
Neid’s attacks were simple. Or maybe it was the size of the hammer that made that unavoidable.
He either swung it around, or down, so considering how easy to see the trajectories were, and how wide his swings were, it was not hard to dodge and counter.
In the first attack, Yuugo saw him get ready to swine horizontally, approached him before he could even do it, and kicked him in the jaw.
The second, while Neid was stumbling after getting hit with a strong attack to a vital area, Yuugo landed a backhand blow to the side of his head.
Third, he poured magic energy into his clenched right fist, and hit a boosted straight punch, sending Neid flying back while groaning in pain.
“Gabuh! Goha…! Dammit…! I shouldn’t be losing to a guy using an old magic item, that can only swarm me. Not with this new power…!”
“Neid, you got yourself power, but you didn’t become strong. Becoming alone means the power you got made you weaker.”
“What? I have the technique to make magic swords, and the power to not lose to some magic knight! How’s the perfect being that can do anything by himself weak!?”
“In this world… No, in any world, there is no one you can say is perfect. People live by supporting others and being supported. I’m standing in front of you now, because I have people who support me.
Neid, do you have anyone to support you now? Friends that will lend you a hand when things are tough? If your answer is no… You can’t beat me.”
“Shut up! Don’t act all smug when you can only use an outdated armor magic item!!”
Neid was furious at the idea that he was weak, and let the hammer go to punch Yuugo.
Anger, hatred, humiliation… His fist was packed with negative emotions. But just as he thought it would connect with Yuugo’s face, he felt a dull impact, and groaned.
