“Big brother! You’re here! Ouch…!”
“Phi, I know how you feel, but you know you can’t run out on your own, right?”
“…Sorry. But I…”
“I know. I think I know what’s going on.”
Yuugo lightly chopped his little brother on the head, and turned his eyes to Shiroi, who was bound to Narul.
Having heard what Egos said, he pretty much knew exactly what was happening, and as he turned to Narul with a grave expression, a large dark shadow jumped over his head.
“Skull! Look after everyone!”
“Bfff!!”
As the dark horse jumped over them with fire lighting its hooves, it saved the members of the cooking club being attacked by Narul.
It started bringing them all to safety while expelling flames from its body and expertly evading attacks. As Yuugo saw this, he turned to his little brother and Precia.
“Let’s pull ourselves together first. President, take the others and get some distance. I can’t fight, be mindful of Shiroi, and protect everyone at the same time.”
“You’re going to fight that giant monster armor beast on your own!? That’s crazy!”
“I don’t plan to fight alone from beginning to end, but I have to stop it from going over there. In battle, whoever goes with the flow wins… Jokes aside, I think that’s spot on.”
There was the fact that she kept her trump card, the trent, hidden until the end, but because Shian and Egos made the decision to abandon Shiroi, and lost after forcing the cooking club to go out and fight, the flow of the battle was completely in Narul’s favor.
Considering her personality, she was the kind to get carried away, and believe whoever was stronger would come out on top. But conversely, she was also the type to fall into a bigger slump than most once things went in an unfavorable direction for her.
And so, since she became so full of herself, the first thing he had to do was bring her down a couple of pegs… Yuugo glared at the trent, knowing exactly what he had to do, when Precia asked him a question with a shaking voice.
“Yuugo… Do you think I should have done what Egos said?”
“W-what are you talking about!? There’s no need to do that whatsoever!”
“But I don’t know what we could have done if Yuugo didn’t come. Everyone might have been wiped out by that monster armor beast. So maybe… Egos was right.”
Precia was hit with the main character charisma, so despite thinking that abandoning Shiroi like they tried to do was wrong, she could not bring herself to deny it completely.
Her own way of thinking and her common sense were twisted by a power scarier than a monster armor beast, and she wondered if her decisions were right… And Yuugo faced her directly to wipe away those worries.
“Hao is right, there was no need at all for you to do that.”
“But…!”
Precia tried to say something, having not completely accepted what Yuugo was saying. But Yuugo stopped by pointing up with his right hand and speaking.
“A man once said, to live is to taste good… Whatever you eat is tasty, and it’s tasty even if you don’t eat. What this means… Is that living unconditionally is wonderful. But once you’re burdened with death, you stop feeling that way. Life becomes sour all of a sudden. The same would go for your food. You won’t be able to realize your dream of putting smiles on people’s faces with your food.”
“…!”
“You don’t need to burden yourself with anyone’s death. No, you definitely shouldn’t. If someone says that’s the only way, I’ll cut open another path. Because that’s what heroes do.”
He clenched his right hand, and this time pointed it at Precia with a thumbs up.
Yuugo expressed his desire to protect not just Shiroi’s life, but Precia’s dream as well, and continued.
“Speaking of dreams, I haven’t said mine yet. My dream is to become a hero that my little brother can look up to with pride. That’s why I’ll defeat evil… And save my little brother’s friend. And no matter what troubles lie ahead, I won’t give up. I won’t make any allowances, because that’s my dream.”
“Yuugo…!”
Hero condition number one… Never give up.
Phi gulped, remembering how his brother once said that during a battle, and Yuugo turned to him.
“Phi, do you have Shiroi’s treasure?”
“Ah…! Y-yes!”
Phi was embarrassed at the realization that Yuugo heard their conversation that night, and took out the stone knife from his pocket while his face turned red.
A weapon once used by the hero who protected him… Yuugo held it again, and nodded strongly.
“Thanks. Here I go. I’ll save Shiroi, so wait for me.”
“Yes…!”
The members of the cooking club had been successfully evacuated, so Yuugo rode Skull towards Narul.
Narul spoke with ridicule, as she saw him slowly approaching her.
“Oh? You’re alone? Is everyone else too scared to move?”
“I’m enough to handle you. I’ll bring you down a couple of pegs.”
“Hahahahaha! That’s funny! I have a hostage, so your attacks won’t work! The only thing that’s being brought down is your pride!!”
She yelled while sending multiple branches towards Yuugo.
Phi and the others gulped as they saw the trent branches attacking like whips, but Yuugo clenched his fists on top of his horse and said the word that signaled the battle was starting.
“Hen… Shin!!”
“Wha!?”
The moment the crimson light appeared, the many branches heading towards Yuugo were cut down.
Narul stopped to look on at this surprising development, and Yuugo emerged from the light with his Blaster on.
A dark armor on a dark horse, a dark knight… But one part let out a different color.
The sword Yuugo held… Which was not really the size of a sword.
Its size easily surpassed a person’s, as this great sword released a deep crimson shine as though it was burning.
“…I’ve been thinking about how to use the magic crystal I got from Skull. Then I came up with something when the function to add an element to my weapon was installed. If adding an element to my armor is dangerous, how about doing it to something else…
After some tests, we reached the conclusion that I need to gather enough metal particles to create a sword this big to withstand the intense flames… But I got something that became a trump card.”
“What’s that? What!?”
“This? Rekka Dai… Nah, I can’t call it that. If I were to give it a name…”
Using the zanbato he used to fight the bull golem as a base, he added the fire element to create a flaming great sword.
Since he knew of a weapon that looked similar, he half-jokingly mentioned its name, but retracted it and gave it a new name.
“Zanma Guren Blade (Demon cutting Crimson Blade) That’s its name.”
