After the party, Yuugo, Marcos, and Phi, the only ones who did not prepare the food, talked as they washed the tableware.
Marcos grumbled, but said nothing in return to Yuugo, and continued working.
Since Yuugo, the one being congratulated, was washing dishes, he could not complain.
Even with that aside, Marcos was pretty serious, and as he did this chore he was not used to, he turned to Yuugo and spoke.
“…About what I said before about the exchange student… Don’t worry about that too much.”
“An? Worry about what?”
“Well… About you being a problem child around here, and them not letting you near a student from Yamato. “
“Ah, that! It’s okay! I’m not bothered! You look more bothered than me, uh Marcos!? I’m used to it, so don’t dwell on it!”
“I’m not bothered! Don’t go misunderstanding things on your own! It’s gross!!”
Said Marcos, although he did worry about what he said hurting Yuugo.
He tried to play it cool after Yuugo saw through it, and then continued while vigorously moving his hands as he washed dishes.
“I never thought the day would come when we washed dishes together. Even our friendship is a future I could not have imagined.”
“Hahaha! True! I didn’t think I’d be this friendly with you either. I mean, remember how we met!?”
Yuugo smiled as he looked up at the ceiling, remembering that terrible encounter.
They really went at it at the time, and as they felt the twists of fate now that they trusted a once hated opponent, Marcos sighed and spoke.
“You’ve changed. Like with the conversation we had about the exchange students. Old you would have been crazy about those combat miko, and not shown any interest in a male student.”
“Hahahahaha, true. Well, I lost my memory, and I don’t remember old me very well, so I can’t really talk. But I’m happy to have so many friends who would celebrate me moving.”
“That’s because you changed… And you changed many people’s fates. Everyone gathered here today is thankful for you, Yuugo.”
“Eh…”
Yuugo was a little surprised by Marcos’ serious tone. He looked at his face in profile as Marcos kept washing dishes, and Marcos continued.
“Think about it, Yuugo. If Melt didn’t team up with you in that first request, those hero prospects would have all tried to have their way with her. She would have most likely been dragged into a battle much like when Isaac tried to take Claire from Zenon. And she would have been harassed by many more boys like Egos did. It was meeting you that stopped all that, and hitting it off with you.”
“You’re making too much of it. Melt could’ve handled things on her own even if she was involved in trouble like that.”
“What about An? She would have surely become a victim of Neid and his magic sword plot if she had not met you. It was your efforts that minimized the damage done during that incident.”
Had Mizari not met Yuugo, she would still be left indecisive, unable to find her goals.
Precia and Hao would have burned the trent per Egos’ orders, and become scarred for life after sacrificing an innocent child.
It was Yuugo who changed their fates… Marcos continued speaking without turning to Yuugo.
“Even the people who were not here. Hercus, Claire, the people involved in requests, and Zenon, who was the one who warped your fate… There is little doubt that you saved them.
You changed. And you keep changing others’ fates. That is what I think.”
“…Thanks Marcos.”
Yuugo squinted as he thanked Marcos for the roundabout praise.
One fate changing leads to many others changing… Yuugo thought back to the words of a very accurate fortune teller, and sighed as he stopped what he was doing.
He saved many people, but there were definitely others he failed to save, like Isaac.
Still… What he did was not for nothing. Yuugo felt happy hearing that directly from someone, when a voice he did not recognize echoed in the kitchen.

A very accurate fortune teller Yuugo is thinking of is likely Tezuka Miyuki AKA Kamen Rider Raia.
I’m also pretty sure that one changed fate led to more changed fates is a reference to Miyuki’s last word where he said to Shinji that his fate was changed by him and that may have led to bigger change of fate.
