“Yuugo, I feel like you bump into these weird situations everywhere you go. Are you cursed or something?”
“Don’t say that. It’s not like I go looking for trouble.”
Yuugo was now in the training area, after being led there by his seniors. And his friends went there after being told what was going on by Phi seemed exasperated.
He tried not to think about it until it was pointed out to him, but it really felt like he could not accept a request or even go anywhere without being roped into something. He told himself that he was not the one who decided to have duels with Rush and Isaac, and shook those bad thoughts out of his head.
“W-well, it’s not like there’s anything on the line. You can take it easy and think of it as a rough way to introduce yourselves. It’s not a big deal.”
“True. And someone as strong as you should be able to wipe the floor with him, even if he’s a senior.”
“You should be careful not to overdo it, master.”
Yuugo thought his friends were making too much of him, as he left them and headed to where he would be fighting.
On the other side, one boy also left the others, and spoke.
“All right! Ready? The rules are the same as in a duel. But don’t worry, it’s not that serious of a fight.”
“Got it… By the way, what’s your name?”
“Hn? I’m Darom. Let’s have a match, Yuugo.”
He said as he unsheathed a knife and took on a fighting stance.
He said it would not be that serious, but there was definitely some bloodlust to him. Yuugo asked in his head that at the very least, what Darom did matched what he said, and also activated Blaster to start the fight.
“All right, let’s get into it. Three, two, one… Henshin!!”
After twisting his body left and right, Yuugo counted down for some reason, and turned his left arm before stopping it in front of his face.
After saying his usual word, he pointed to the ceiling with his right arm and activated Blaster. After the crimson shine was gone, he spoke while putting out his fist towards Darom.
“Transformation complete! Yuugo Clay, Blaster! Let’s have a one on one…! Hn…?”
Yuugo was not too excited about this, so he tried to rile himself up by imitating a hero he liked, but.. As he pictured celestial energy falling on him, he noticed something was not right.
He did not really know why, but his body felt heavier than usual.
It was only a slight odd feeling, but it was still enough for him to tilt his head because he felt differences compared to how Blaster was normally. And suddenly, Darom jumped at him.
“Ueh!? W-we’re starting so suddenly!?”
“We’ve both got our magic items equipped and we’re ready, right? You said it yourself, let’s have a one on one match!”
Darom attacked with his knife, using agility that seemed to match his small frame.
The slashes from the magic energy infused blade were sharp, and as Yuugo dealt with his movements, he truly felt there was something wrong with Blaster.
(Strange… Was it always like this?)
He ate until he was full and then entered a bath. Adding that to his lack of enthusiasm about this, and it could very well be that his mental state was not up for this fight.
Maybe it was a side-effect of that… He thought, but the feeling that something was off grew and grew, to the point where he suspected Blaster was malfunctioning.
He felt all of this was distracting him, so he took a deep breath under his helmet as he dealt with Darom’s attacks.
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong!? Is that all you’ve got, Yuugo!?”
He ignored Darom’s provocations, instead observing him as he confidently attacked with full force.
Swinging down, right to left… He repeated these slashes, but when Yuugo saw him stop for a moment and pulling back, he prepared to counterattack, predicting Darom’s next move.
“Funha! Eh…?”
“Got you.”
He read the next thrust, and spoke calmly as he grabbed the arm with the knife.
Darom was shaken about his movements being predicted, and struggled fruitlessly to release his arm… It was here that the match was decided.
“Ogoeh!? Ga, ah…!!”
Yuugo pulled his arm to draw him closer, and turned. With an incredible speed, he put Darom’s smaller body on his back, and executed a shoulder throw.
Darom had no idea what was happening as he was thrown, and could only feel a strong impact on his body after his body rotated.
“Sorry, I have bad memories with knives, so I already had a plan against them.”
Said Yuugo calmly, as Darom laid on the ground coughing, and Yuugo picked up his knife.
The other seniors were dumbfounded by how he gained complete control and disarmed him, as Yuugo undid his Blaster transformation and walked back to the others.

Gentarou Kisaragi’s pre battle catch phrase was “lets settle this one on one”.
Also im pretty sure darom is a dark rider reference but im on the road, ill ask another toku fan to pick this reference up.
The author said in the character introduction that Darom’s name comes from Kamen Rider Dark Necrom from Ghost. These dorm folks have a generic evil rider theme naming going on.
Oh yea, it’s natural that Yuugo has trained himself to defend against knife attack after his death in the previous life.
Looks like the seniors did something to his Blaster, but they underestimated (new) Yuugo’s true skill.
