“Now let me explain the test. You are going to be split into groups. It goes without saying that we can’t see everyone here fighting all at once, so each group will be tested in turn. As for who will be in what group… It will be like this.”
Said Ramy, and Uno snapped his fingers, making numbers appear in front of the students.
The students understood that the numbers from one to five showed what group they were in, and Yuugo spoke about the five in in front of him.
“Mine’s five, so I’m last. What about you two?”
“Geh!? I’m in the first one!? I’m not with you and I’m the first in line! This is the worst!”
“I’m also five. It looks like we were both assigned to the final spot.”
“Oh, really!? So we’re in the same…! Wait…”
Despite being separate from Melt, he liked being in the same group as Ryuuga, but… An obvious question popped into his mind.
If Ryuuga was also an exchange student, why was he taking the test with him?
Shouldn’t he be with the others, he thought as Ramy continued her explanation.
“As for the test itself, I will summon monsters as I did for the three exchange students, and you will fight them in this exercise area. Simple. During those fights, we will see your three strengths.”
Ramy held up one finger, and explained these three strengths.
“First, simple fighting power. We cannot put the exchange students with people who they will have to end looking after. You to show that you are at the very least as strong as them. This is an important condition.”
The students listening nodded, thinking this was an acceptable standard for a test.
It was a battle test, so it was only natural that fighting abilities would be an important factor.
Ramy then held up another finger.
“Second, cooperation and unity with your partners. No matter how strong you are, we cannot partner them with people who do nothing but show off. The students in your group are your rivals, but keep in mind that they are also your partners.”
The second criteria also made sense to the students.
They had to stand out from the others, but doing so alone would be pointless… However, this did make the test considerably harder.
Ramy put up a third finger, and continued to explain.
“Lastly… Crisis management. It would be bad if you did not value your lives and those of your partners. This is not because the lives of students from another country will be in your hands, this should be common sense. Don’t do anything rash. If you think you are in danger, retreat immediately. I prepared these monsters to bring out that way of thinking.”
And then, Mira activated her summoning magic again.
The earth rumbled, and a giant magic beast appeared in the exercise area, standing at attention.
“Gigantes… It has no special abilities, but its giant body and super strength makes for a very threatening monster. It is at the very least too strong of an opponent for you. This gigantes will move around the exercise area during this test. If you get within a certain range, it will get ready for combat and start attacking you. Make sure you are aware of your distance to it at all times as you fight other monsters. If you are spotted, make sure you hide until it disengages, understood?”
This was the final challenge, an unbeatable monster.
Ramy summoned it to deter the students’ youthful rashness, and it would be a tool to teach them this mental attitude.
Basically, the idea was to work together with the rest of the group to eliminate monsters while avoiding being discovered by gigantes.
And in the meantime, they would have to be mindful to fight in a way that drew the attention of the combat miko. Yuugo then raised his hand with a question.
“Yes! Hum, I have a question!”
“Hn? What is it, Yuugo Clay? Make it brief.”
Yuugo saw that for a moment, when she looked at his face, there was clear animosity.
But he let it go, and simply asked the question that had been on his mind for a while.
“Why is Ryuuga… Renjou taking the test with us, if he’s an exchange student? Isn’t that strange?”
“That is because we asked for it. Surely you have realized that there are more exchange students than usual this year… We asked that he fight alongside you to see if he really does have the power to be warrant being an exception.”
“But…”
“Yuugo, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. I’m not good at assessing someone’s power. I would rather be tested than test.”
Yuugo did not accept Sakura’s answer, but Ryuuga stopped him.
If Ryuuga himself accepted it, Yuugo had to stand down. And since there were no further questions, Ramy addressed the students again.
“Is that all understood? Then… Let the test begin!”

Who is she to determine wether ryuuga warrants an exemption? Also I’m almost certain Yuugo will take down the gigantes to save a reckless “hero”
Why do I feel as though Sakura has some animosity towards Ryuuga? Then again, she’s had a strict upbringing so I could be wrong.
