“What’s with… Those forms…!?”
Said Shian without thinking, upon seeing Trill and Riel emerge from the light.
He had no idea what they were. They were completely unknown entities that did not appear in Luminous History.
They were like bipedal insects, but… They looked a lot closer to humans now.
The big brother’s black luster shell swelled even more, looking like a hard armor. He had a big sword in his right hand, and a buckler attached to the gauntlet on his left hand.
The little sister had a slender golden armor made for a woman, with space in the chest area, and she held twin swords.
Their faces were more human-like, but still clearly those of monsters, and their horns grew even bigger. They appeared before Shian and the others in these forms that despite looking more human, seemed to draw even more power as monsters.
Their wounds were all gone, and it looked as though they had regained their stamina as well. Shian and Egos’ thoughts completely stopped upon meeting this unexpected turn of events.
Their partners were anxious, and prompted their leader to give instructions.
“Shian, tell us what to do! How should we fight them… Eh?”
Peewee called out to Shian, looking for instructions, but was surprised when Riel suddenly disappeared.
She was observing her enemy carefully, so she was surprised when that golden shine suddenly vanished. But when she suddenly noticed Riel was right next to her, she felt even more surprised, and her face twitched with fear.
“Fufufu, hahaha!!”
“Aguh!?”
“P-Peewee!?”
There was not even time to blink. Shian and Egos did not move at all.
Riel drew close to Peewee in a second, and swung her twin swords to execute sharp slashes.
A mage like her had poor defense, so she was slashed without being able to dodge or block. Her magic energy barrier was pierced, and her clothes and body suffered many cuts, leaving her to fall to the floor.
“D-damn you! Peewee!!”
Seeing one of his partners go down meant Velda’s anger surpassed his fear.
He tried to attack Riel, but Trill stood in his way.
“Out of my way!!”
Velda used the momentum of his charge to punch Trill.
He infused magic energy into his tightly clenched right fist, and hit the monster armor beast with all he had… But Trill did not budge, and asked a question with complete composure.
“Is this your full power? You were hurting me quite a bit, but… It looks like we’ve just gotten too strong…!”
“Wha!? Gubeh!?”
He landed a clean hit with his full power, but Trill suffered no damage. Velda was surprised, but was thrown by a hit from the buckler, and lost consciousness.
Shian and Egos were shocked to see the one with the most stamina and defensive power among them go down to one hit, and the evolved siblings spoke with an eerie tone.
“Wonderful power. So this is the power of level 2…!!”
“Level 2…? W-what is that?”
“Fufufufufu…! We will do you the courtesy of telling you, since you helped us evolve. Ones who attain the power of monster armor beasts become beings beyond humans… But that’s not the end. When a human body adapts to the power of monster armor beasts through repeated use of said power, that human can draw even more power. That is level 2. A being who surpassed humans going further beyond.. A being who achieved a bigger evolution…!”
“W-what kind of joke is that!? T-that power…!!”
It was not certain what Egos was trying to say.
Was it that they did not know? Or that they did not accept it?
Before he could finish it, both himself and Shian attacked the siblings.
These were beings that went beyond their prior knowledge, unknown elements that were not supposed to appear in this scenario. Their instincts told them they had to be eliminated, but that would not be easy.
Egos attacked Trill with an axe in hand, and Shian thrust at Riel with his spear.
But… Despite training for this event, their power was far below that of the level 2 monster armor beasts.
“Phun!!”
“Guaaaah!?”
Trill easily blocked Egos’ axe with his buckler.
He parried with light movements, stabbed Egos in his unguarded torso, and executed an intense attack.
“Hahahahaha! Too slow!!”
“Gyaaaaah!?”
Riel also easily saw through Shian’s attack, passing by him as he drew closer, and dancing with her twin swords.
Much like Peewee before him, Shian’s body was cut all over, breaking his magic energy barrier and leaving him crumpling to the floor.
This back and forth lasted only a second, and the main characters were easily defeated.
“A-aah, ah…!?”
Neries was the only one left, and seeing her partners and her trusted leader go down made her lose her will to fight completely.
She fell to the floor with tears in her eyes, wetting herself out of fear.
Trill and Riel approached her, and after looking down at her silently for a moment… They spoke with voices filled with a haughty kindness.
“Don’t worry, you spurred our evolution, so we won’t take your life.”
“Take your friends and go, just this once.”
“T-t-t-thank you! Thank you!”
With a mix of terror and relief, Neries knelt before the siblings and thanked them for their mercy.
They were amused by this show of submission, and spoke again, full of a sense of superiority.
“Yes, that’s good. Prostrate yourself before your superiors who have evolved, and keep your life by flattering us. That is appropriate behavior for humans who cannot evolve.”
“It feels good to look down on them, big brother. We’ll teach a thing or two to those who made fools out of us. We’ll see who’s the real idiot…!”
This twisted evolution and twisted sense of conquest led them to get drunk on their power.
After turning into these arrogant and haughty beings, they walked around leisurely as if that was their right as superior evolved beings, looking for their next prey.

I was hoping for a redemption arc for Zenon so that he would take Clair on an adventure, but alas, that won’t be happening.
That said, watching the MCs getting humiliated -again- was satisfying 🙂
Yeah, that’s great and all… But I wonder what kind of damage these 2 Imperfect Cells are going to cause, before the author feels like making Yuugo and Ryuga beat them.
I also wonder if there was a tokusatsu reference here, on top of the DBZ ones.
Feel bad for their party members tho, they didn’t deserve such humiliation because they were influenced by their cheat charisma.

OK, there’s a lot to write about here, so I’m gonna start with the kaijin first.
The kaijin here is a twofer references of:
BTW, the riders from both series started out with a bulky armored form at first before shedding them off into a sleeker, default form. Kabuto Zecter in particular was activated by pulling the lever to the right, like the Gamer Driver that come after it. Which may be why the author reference both of them in one character.
Another reference is about Shian’s teammate.
To those uninitiated, Shian Feir’s name is an anagram of Infershia, the villain group from Mahou Sentai Magiranger. His teammate continue the reference with their name based upon the series’ monster of the week.
(Quick note: The reference only make sense if you see their full name which might be spoiler-ish for some, and I will also mentioned the future arc a bit too, hence the tag.)
And finally, a bit late here, but Egos Cutman’s first name is a reference to Secret Society Egos, the villain group of Battle Fever J while his last name is a reference to Cutman, Egos’ grunt/minion/goon/footsoldier/combatant/whathaveyou.
Damn, so we have level 2 Kaijin now. Shian and Egos should’ve finished them when they had the chance
