“I’m glad nothing happened on the way to Mary’s house.”
“Yes. But you know what they say, going is easy, but coming back is hard. Let’s stay sharp.”
After getting Mary home safely, Yuugo, Ryuuga, Sakura, and Raiha made their way back to the academy.
It would not be long until the sun set completely.
Yuugo was thinking that it would be dark by the time he got to the dormitory, and spoke to Ryuuga when he realized he had a long look on his face.
“What’s wrong? You look kind of down.”
“No… I just remembered my father a bit. Don’t mind it.”
He said with a lonely smile.
Yuugo silently nodded and left it at that.
When they brought Mary home, they met her father Goto and spoke to him a little.
He seemed like an average father, and Yuugo felt he was a nice person. The kind of person that was surely very worried about his daughter.
Yuugo hoped Goto and Mary made up and continued treating each other as father and daughter, and surely Ryuuga felt the same way.
As he heard about Goto from Mary, Yuugo compared him to his mother. And now that he was thinking about his father, his feelings were probably stronger than before.
“…I hope things work out for those two.”
“Yes…”
Ryuuga spoke to Yuugo with a vague tone, but with some emotion in it.
Yuugo thought about how Ryuuga was still trapped in the past that was his father’s death, much like he spoke of, and Sakura walked a little faster to catch up to them and speak.
“Mister Yuugo, may I ask a question?”
“Eh? Y-yes. Sure, Amamiya,”
“You may speak to me as you do with Setsuna.”
“Hum… Okay. So? What’s the question?”
Yuugo was a little nervous, because out of the three combat miko, he had interacted with Sakura the least.
But he held that back as best he could as he faced her, and she asked her question.
“What do you think of Black Veil? Do you believe him to be a figure of justice?”
“…!!”
Sakura also faced him directly as she asked that fast ball of a question.
Yuugo gulped, Sakura sighed, and she spoke about her feelings sincerely.
“To be perfectly honest, I cannot deny Black Veil completely. I felt that way when I spoke to people of the Friends of the Night Society.”
“…I think I get what you mean. Yes, I do.”
“…Black Veil judges villains in place of those who hate them but are powerless. There are many out there who committed crimes but did not pay the appropriate price… Is executing justice on those not judged by the law truly evil?”
Yuugo understood what she meant just a little.
Surely there were others like Mary, who found it unforgivable that people who killed others, robbing them of their futures, were carrying on living.
And in the Friends of the Night Society, a gathering of people like her, they worshiped from the bottom of their hearts someone who would take revenge for them.
Was taking on their feelings and executing justice on evil people really bad?
Despite the circumstances, Sakura did attend the meeting, and felt her heart wavering.
“Mister Yuugo… You think differently compared to us from Yamato. And you attracted Setsuna’s interest. I definitely want to hear your thoughts on Black Veil.”
Said Sakura while still looking straight at him, and Yuugo scratched his face, looking troubled.
He let out a small sigh, looked at her, and stated his opinion.”
“What Black Veil is doing might be just, but I think it’s wrong.”
“Just, but wrong…? What do you mean?”
Sakura was confused by what sounded like a contradiction, and Yuugo continued.
“Justice exists in everyone. But thinking your own justice is absolute… And pushing it on others, is something you should never do.”
