“W-what!?”
“An earthquake!? A pretty big one too!”
The sudden rumbling surprised Yuugo and Raiha, who looked around.
Patients were surprised, and some screamed, as Yuugo felt something was not right.
“Isn’t it getting dark outside…?”
It was just a little, but Yuugo felt as though less light was coming in from the outside compared to a few seconds before, and he looked outside the window.
The blue sky outside seemed to not be very different, but… The next moment, he saw something through that window, and a piercing sound broke the glass.
“Kyaaaaah!?”
“S-something came in!!”
People screamed even louder.
Yuugo and Raiha reacted to the voices, and what looked like a giant ivy entered through the window.
They dodged despite their surprise, and Yuugo leaned out from another window to see what was outside. He saw ivy wrapped around the whole hospital, and his eyes opened wide.
He also saw sharp green thorns growing from the ivy, and he yelled loudly after pulling himself back in.
“Everyone get away from the windows! The thorns will hurt you!!”
The ivy coming in from the window… Or rather, thorny shrub, had pretty big thorns.
If one were to carelessly get prickled, it would cause a serious wound. This was a hospital, but suffice to say, it was preferable to not have anyone be injured. And after Yuugo warned everyone, Phi and Yui jumped out of the room.
“Big brother! What is going on!?”
“I dunno! But it’s not an earthquake! You two, stick close to me!”
Yuugo figured something bigger than he imagined was going on, and after yelling to the kids, he thought about what to do.
If this thorny shrub was coming from the top, whatever was causing this abnormality must be on the roof, he thought as he decided to go have a look… But another problem sprung up.
“Phi, Yuugo… Something is coming…!”
“W-what!?”
“I don’t know! But something not good is approaching! From…!”
Yui saw souls, not with her eyes, and she felt something suspicious approaching.
Before she could point in its direction, several people screamed as they ran in their direction.
Yuugo turned his back at the wave of people to protect Phi and Yui, and turned around as he felt their presences and heard their footsteps. Once he saw the strange thing ahead, he turned to Raiha.
“…Utsusemi, look after them.”
“Y-yes!”
After hearing Raiha, he left Yui and Phi to her and walked forward.
He passed through the fleeing people, walking in their opposite direction, towards the monster.
“Fshh, shrrr, shh, fshrrr!”
“A monster armor beast… Did it cause this?”
Green and red, a monster armor beast of both colors stood before Yuugo.
Looking at its green body and the thorns all over it, no one would be foolish enough to confuse it for anything other than a plant monster beast.
It had a relatively thin body, and thorny shrub where its arms would be, that it used as whips. It was easy to imagine those were its weapons.
At the same time, Yuugo’s eyes pointed at another thing.
(What are those red things? Seeds…?)
This monster armor beast had no nose or eyes, instead having what looked like red fruit in their place.
The petals around its head creepily bloomed, and as the strangeness of this monster armor beast overwhelmed Yuugo, he noticed people who were too slow to get away behind it, and immediately shook off those weak feelings.
“Look at me, green guy. I’m your opponent.”
“Gshhh, shhhh, shh!!”
Yuugo motioned with his hand to provoke it, and it reacted with enmity.
It made dirty sounds from somewhere, and attacked with the whips coming from its wrists, but Yuugo jumped back as he looked at it with a sharp glare.
(That’s it! Come after me!)
In this unclear situation, it was hard to even be sure if this monster armor beast was the cause.
But what Yuugo knew was that as a hero, he had to protect the people that remained in the hospital.
It could not touch the patients or the doctors.
With a vow to protect them, Yuugo threw himself into the fight.
He dodged the whips again, and again, and got closer. And with his conviction in his heart and a clenched fist, he jumped towards his enemy and yelled.
“Henshin!!”
