“Gshhshhrah!”
Yuugo activated Blaster in the air, and executed a magic energy powered chop to the approaching thorny shrub whip.
The strike with increased sharpness and power perfectly took away the enemy’s attack method, and Yuugo continued, jumping in close with a fierce attack.
“Uoooooh!!”
Left continuous strikes. An elbow. A right straight in the middle of the chest.
However, none felt quite right to Yuugo.
(It’s like I’m not hitting the core. It’s wriggling and feels weird.)
The monster armor beast had a relatively thin body, but despite looking frail, the enemy had the strange ability to ward off attacks.
It was hard to explain, but it felt as though the impact of the hits was being absorbed.
He hit the torso all over, looking for a spot where the blows would be effective, but… It was all the same.
It was likely that attacking it in the vital area between the legs would have no effect either.
That left only the face…But Yuugo hesitated to go there.
(I have a feeling that hitting the red fruit on its face is bad!)
He had no idea why, but his instincts told him so.
However, Yuugo thought this feeling was most definitely correct.
He could not crush the fruit positioned in such an easy to hit spot.
Yuugo glared at the monster armor beast, that swayed as it drew closer, and Phi yelled from behind him.
“Big brother! Don’t attack the red fruits! Those will explode on impact!!”
“What!? What do you mean, Phi!?”
Phi had been observing the fight, or rather, the monster armor beast, and a surprised Yuugo asked for an explanation.
Phi explained what he knew, as Raiha protected him.
“I read it in a book! A monster named exprose turns magic energy into bombs as a weapon to protect itself! They look just like the fruits I saw in a picture book!”
“Seriously…!? Then that thing embeds bombs to its face…?”
Yuugo sweated under Blaster, as he learned this monster armor beast had more troublesome abilities than he thought.
He had no way of knowing how high the explosive power of an exprose really was, but surely he would take considerable damage if he hit it.
Yuugo recognized the danger its opponent posed once again, and told himself that face was not to be hit, as Phi continued.
“The problem is that another monster fused with an exprose, and… Sorry, but I have no idea what it is…”
“No, that’s enough! I know not to touch that fruit!”
As Phi said, this monster armor beast was the result of an exprose fusing with another monster, but Yuugo had no idea what it could be either.
But knowing that it had the ability to explode with that fruit, and a strangely soft body that cushioned blows, was enough.
“Phi, close your eyes for a bit. I’m using my real move.”
“Eh? A new move? What is it…?”
“Just close your eyes like a good boy!! If you see it, you won’t be able to unsee it!!”
After warning his little brother, he faced the monster armor beast again.
He measured the distance between them, composed his breathing, and looked for the right timing. The monster armor beast attacked with the regenerated whip, and Yuugo immediately jumped in close to grab a petal on its head.
“You absorb blows to your body and I can’t hit your face. Then… I’ll pluck you!!”
“Gishhgushhh!?”
It was as though the monster armor beast saw the situation turning against it due to the intense shine in Blaster’s eyes.
But before it could move to counter, Yuugo kicked a wall while hanging on to it, and pointed his free right hand at its neck.
“Here it goes, Cutter Arm!!”
“Gyeeeeeeh!?”
He activated Blaster’s limb transformation feature, creating a blade that extended from outside the wrist.
This blade cut halfway through the monster armor beast’s neck, and Yuugo pulled with his left hand as hard as he could.
“Ooooooooooohh!!”
“Shhh, gshhh, shhh, gaah…!?”
Rather than blood, a green liquid sprayed from its neck.
Yuugo pulled its head hard to finish it, and plucked it as he said before.
If his opponent was human, he would be pulling the spinal cord along with the head… Was what Yuugo had in mind as he unveiled this frightening technique, and the body of the monster armor beast limply crumbled.
“How’s that, my new move? My real finisher!? It’s not something I can happily show people though…”
It was too brutal and odd, he thought as he mumbled.
The ones who saw the battle were somewhat frightened, as Raiha spoke to Yuugo, who still held the head of the monster armor beast.
“Thank you, Yuugo. But it doesn’t look like the plants covering the hospital are disappearing…”
“Apparently. I guess this thing didn’t cause it.”
Yuugo figured that was the case, but the monster armor beast really was not the source.
That meant he had to go to the roof, but first, the people in the hospital had to be taken to safety, so he spoke to Raiha.
“More monster armor beasts might appear. We need to secure a safe location first, and evacuate the patients.”
“Yes… Let me help.”
They could not be too careful against an opponent that could create bombs.
Whether it was escaping or checking the roof, they had to be prudent. That required a calm environment.
While they did what they had to inside, surely their friends and the guards did what they had to on the outside.
Yuugo trusted them, and focused on what he had to do.
