“If we could remove the bombs, could we escape?”
“Yes… But we don’t know where they are in the hospital, or how many there are. Removing them…”
“It’s all right. I can search for how many and where they are.”
Raiha then placed her hand on the floor of the hospital.
With her right palm on the floor, Raiha closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and Yuugo trembled as he felt a tingle in his body.
“Was that…?”
“She sent a weak electric shock running through the hospital to confirm its status. I don’t know how detailed it will be in this confusion, but she can at least learn where magic energy is condensed.”
Said Setsuna, who knew what Raiha was doing, in response to Yuugo.
Yuugo understood from Setsuna’s explanation that Raiha used electricity like a radar, and upon opening her eyes, Raiha shared what she learned.
“There are ten bombs. One has been retrieved, leaving nine.”
“Can you tell where they are?”
“Yes. I can use divination to take you to them.”
Raiha put her hand in her uniform, and took out several paper dolls.
She infused them with magic energy, and after receiving their orders, they flapped their limbs as they moved out.
“Yes, nine, right? I’ll go retrieve them.”
“It’s too much for you alone. I’ll go with you.”
“No, stay here and protect the people taking refuge. We don’t know if more thorny shrub monster armor beasts won’t come…”
Yuugo left Raiha to guard the others, and left alone to retrieve the bombs, but Raiha seemed worried.
But what else could they do… Thought Yuugo, but then someone called out to them.
“Hold on! There are more here who can take action!!”
“Hn? You…?”
Yuugo and Raiha turned towards the voice, and saw a large boy and a sharp looking girl with Luminous Academy uniforms.
The boy approached Yuugo and Raiha and spoke.
“We’re also first year Luminous Academy students. I’m Velda, and this is Peewee.”
“Ooh, I thought I’d seen you before!”
“We were injured in that insectary incident you were involved in, and hospitalized. There are some other Luminous Academy students.”
“We just recovered, but it’s not like we can’t fight. We’ll help you retrieve the bombs.”
“Really!? Thanks!!”
Yuugo thanked Velda and Peewee for the help with a big smile.
And just as they said, there were other students, and they began to talk strategy with ten people secured.
“Let’s split into groups to retrieve the bombs, and avoid fighting as much as we can along the way.”
“If you see another one of those things with bombs on their faces, call me. I’ll take them on.”
“Let’s bring the bombs here… Should we leave some people here to guard?”
“I can communicate through divination. If something happens, please talk to them.”
The discussion advanced swiftly and precisely, and so did the preparations.
Jinba also heard this discussion, and stated the final objective.
“Once the bombs are retrieved, freeze the giant flower monster armor beast with ice magic! It will take time with something that big, but if you can stop it, we should be able to mount a rescue!”
“Understood, Jinba. And let’s give the monster armor beast a name, even if it’s temporary. Flower monster armor beast makes it hard to distinguish from the small ones inside.”
“Hm, then… How about gigantrose for the flower monster armor beast, and flower monsters for the small ones?”
“Okay! That makes it easier to tell them apart!”
With everything ready, they moved out to retrieve the bombs and escape the hospital.
But just before they left, Yuugo turned to Raiha, who was with the group that was staying behind, and spoke while looking directly at her.
“Utsusemi, please look after Phi and Yui while I’m gone.”
“Leave it to me. And… Don’t be so formal. Call me by my name too. That will make things simpler at a time like this.
“Ye… Okay. Look after them then, Raiha!”
“Yes!”
“Be careful, big brother!!”
Yuugo gave a thumbs up as they saw him off.
Raiha’s divination guided them as they moved out to collect the bombs created by the gigantrose.
