“Yuugo, you…!”
“Ou, Ryuuga. Looks like I worried you in more ways than one. But I kept my promise.”
Said Yuugo with a thumbs up and a warm smile.
Ryuuga looked at him, and then at his worried but unharmed younger sister, and let out a big sigh.
“You really… Are honest to a fault, Yuugo. You did something so crazy to honor a promise to me…”
“Didn’t you save Phi in the insectary? We’re even.”
Yuugo replied with a carefree smile, but Ryuuga crouched next to him.
He lent Yuugo his shoulder to help him to his feet, but Yuugo quickly spoke against it.
“H-hey! You don’t have to! I can walk on my own!”
“Don’t push yourself. I’m thanking you for saving my sister, partner.”
“Hn…! Heh. If you put it like that, I can’t say no…”
Yuugo felt the trust in Ryuuga’s words and face in profile, and let him support his weight.
Ryuuga carried his partner out of the hospital, and thanked him again.
“Thank you Yuugo. Yui wouldn’t have been safe without you. It’s all thanks to you.”
“Don’t keep thanking me. And I think there’s someone else you should be thanking.
“Eh…?”
Raiha was surprised when Yuugo turned to her.
He smiled awkwardly, and spoke to his partner.
“She told us where the bombs were, looked after Yui and the others while we collected them, and created a wall to lessen their impact… It was all Raiha. I stood out, but I think she was the MVP.”
“Eh, ah…!? N-no way, I didn’t…”
“…I see. So you protected…”
Ryuuga whispered as he turned to Raiha.
His gaze made her nervous, but Ryuuga thanked her sincerely.
“Thank you so much, Utsusemi.”
“Ah…”
It was a short sentence, but the feelings behind it made their way to her perfectly.
Her face turned red, and her mouth hung open, as she replied with embarrassment.
“I-I didn’t do that much… But I’m really glad Yui and the others are okay…!”
“Yes… This case is over!!”
There was an odd air between Ryuuga and Raiha, but the distance between them shrunk in a good way.
As Yuugo looked on, happy that this adversity strengthened their foundations, he was taken by Ryuuga to a rescue party standing by, along with Raiha. A lot happened, but he was glad everything turned out fine.
The others looked on, and Angel whispered something she had on her mind.
“Still… I’m surprised Yuugo is okay. That violet armor has high defense, but I don’t think that alone would save him from bombs exploding in his face.”
“Eh, really!? But he’s relatively fine.”
“Did he use another weird technique? Did you see anything?”
“Sorry, but we couldn’t tell. The light and the impact from the blast didn’t allow us.”
Angel, the technician, understood Blaster’s capabilities better than Yuugo.
She knew his spirit boosted its performance, but the fact that she did not believe it could withstand that blast puzzled the others a little.
But no one knew what Yuugo did at the moment of the explosion. No one could see him move.
…Other than one.
“Ah. That’s… Ah!!”
“Hn? Yui, did you say something?”
“N-no, nothing! You misheard it, Phi!”
“Hn? Hnn…?”
Everyone closed their eyes when the explosion happened, so they could not see what Yuugo did, but Yui never used her eyes in the first place. She saw souls, so she knew.
But the moment she was about to say it, Yuugo looked her way with his finger in front of his mouth, asking her to remain quiet. She saw him, and dodged Phi’s question as she left the others.
Phi looked at her quizzically, and followed her.
There was still trouble, but with the incident over, they could leave the rest to the guards… Or that should be the case anyway.
Thinking back, the gigantrose evolved to level two and appeared before them just as they were about to escape. And when they thought it was defeated, the bombs exploded. It seemed bad things kept happening the moment they let their guard down.
It was the second time, but as they said, what happened twice, would happen thrice. And what the masterminds put together to make all the gears come together at the very last moment was going to fall on Yuugo and the others.
