“U-uu… ah!?”
“Oh, you’re awake. Good job.”
“Y-you…!?”
The next time Rush opened his eyes, he saw not Yuugo and the others, or guards, but the hooded person.
He looked around, and saw that he was in the forest where they met, before the hooded person continued.
“Oh dear, you really got beaten pretty badly, didn’t you? You put in a lot of effort to raise it, but it all came to naught again.”
The person that could be called the mastermind behind all this laughed, with no warmth or mockery to be felt in it, before looking at Rush with eyes glinting from the back of the hood.
Those eyes scared Rush, who began to plead for forgiveness.
“S-sorry…! But I was almost there. If it wasn’t for that unforeseen situation, it would’ve all gone well! Next time, next time I’ll…!!”
“Haha, no, there won’t be a next time. I saw your limit. If I were to grant you a similar beast, wouldn’t it be better to pick someone with more talent? And you should know this too by now. I have no mercy for those who have failed…”
“Ah, aaaaa…. Aaaaaaah!”
He did know it. The first time they met, the man who went down to Rush and Marcos was executed before his eyes.
Now Rush was in that position, and felt he was at the end of his road. His expression was filled with despair, as he actually heard his death sentence.
“I didn’t help you. I brought you here so you wouldn’t leak information about me. You failed after being so showy.
Well, the government likes to suppress information, so I assume they along with the magic knights won’t make this or the fact that people transformed into monster armor beasts public. Not unless there is decisive evidence.”
The hooded person said while pointing at Rush.
He knew he was said decisive evidence, and shook his head with tears streaming down his face. But all he heard was parting words, without a hint of mercy.
“Well then, that’s it. Goodbye. Hum… Sorry, what was your name again? Well, it doesn’t matter! You’re dying anyway!”
“N-no! Someone, someone hel…”
Rush did not get to finish his last sentence.
The hooded person saw him vanish, leaving only his uniform behind, and spoke alone with a nod and a satisfied smile.
“I guess that’s fine. I can’t hide that there was an incident, or that someone was behind it, so it’s best to leave something for them.
But it’s too bad. Two crab claws were lost. I have to start researching and raising again…”
The hooded person purposefully left Rush’s things behind to hint at something in the shadows, and grinned.
The plan, or rather, experiment ended in failure, but there was an air of amusement to this person, who whispered with a satisfied tone.
“Well, we can’t rush things. More test subjects will keep appearing.
But Marcos… It really is a shame. You had potential, but the darkness in your heart was purified from hanging around that Yuugo. Hm, both are very interesting! I will keep watching them!”
The wind blew, and carried those whispers that were heard by no one.
And… The moment the wind stopped blowing, the mastermind disappeared.
All that was left were Rush’s uniform and a disquieting atmosphere. It hinted ominously that it was not over, and that true chaos was just beginning.
At his point, no one knew just how large the darkness writhing behind this case truly was.
Rush Winhelm… Lost.
His existence has been removed from this scenario.

A fitting end for someone who trivialized lives.
sooo wait…how is rush alive when getting impale and blown from inside out, did the shady guy save him on the last min or it just the shell got kill while the inside got teleport back to the shady guy, just to kill him? and leave the evidence just for the kick of it? either the dumbass confident or just narcissistic on not getting find out, or maybe they want to be found out to assert dominance to the world. I somewhat recall even shocker are good at hiding their trail not to get notice by the government or they have an inside man on the government. well good work dood.
The kaijin in the series never dies. They simply detransformed and leave behind the object that gave them the power. Also read my comment regarding Lost about his general personality.
