Yuugo, Melt, and Phi spent hours talking with Angel about proposals to strengthen Blaster.
Changing the form of the limbs and tuning the flow of magic energy accordingly would require more metal particles, and since that would also have to be reworked, they decided to break it up for that day.
They only went as far as discussing it that day, but since Yuugo left with a few concrete ideas about how to strengthen his magic item, he was excited on the way back from the technical department.
“That was nice, big brother. I wasn’t sure about how it would turn out, but we managed to find someone willing to help.”
“Yes. I need to thank An…”
He was deeply thankful to An, because she helped him despite the technical department hating him for his past actions (that he did not actually do).
She was not doing it out of charity or pity, she was actually interested in it. But still, the truth remained that it was thanks to her that it seemed they would be able to remodel Blaster.
“We need to get the materials and funds. Let’s accept quests until classes start again! I’ll help too!”
“Thanks! I need to keep asking her so I can get used to how to strengthen weapons and stuff!
If you need to, you should ask An to make your magic item stronger too! Or she could even make a new one!”
“Or use the rewards from quests to buy magic crystals and attach elemental effects. You want a way to attack from a distance, and it would give you more potential for strategies, big brother.”
“And I want a vehicle! That’s something a hero needs! Of course a motorcycle… But let’s not overlook a sports car…!!”
Yuugo started saying weird things again, and as always, Melt and Phi laughed as they found his strange reactions amusing.
Both were happy about the nice result they got that day, but as Phi turned to the side to say something…?
“Big brother…?”
Yuugo was walking with Melt on one side and Phi on the other just a moment ago, but Phi was surprised to see he was gone, and started looking for him.
He found him behind them, looking at the side of the road.
“What is it, Yuugo?”
“…I heard someone’s voice.”
His face had gone from someone having fun talking about strengthening Blaster, to a hero who heard someone asking for help, as he rummaged through the grass on the side of the road and looked for whoever spoke.
Melt knew he was the one who first heard the child asking for help in that tunnel, so she believed his hero senses and helped him look. And then, she found a boy laying on the ground, hidden in the grass.
“Yuugo, this is…!?”
“Hercus!? What happened!?”
“U-uuuu…”
He was left there in tatters, and when he noticed the one he dueled just a few hours before, he called out to him.
Melt used healing magic on him, as Hercus groaned in pain. And next to her, Phi whispered while looking at him and turning pale.
“This is awful…! Someone continued attacking after the magic energy barrier was broken… Who did this…?”
“Hey Hercus, get a hold of yourself! Who did this? What happened!?”
“U-uuu…”
Not only was he beaten to the point of almost being unable to move, but he was left in the grass where he would be hard to find. It was no exaggeration to say it went beyond cruel, and well into murderous.
Who did that? Did something happen after the confrontation in the studio? Yuugo tried to get information out of Hercus, and he responded with a hazy consciousness.
“It was so fast… I was attacked from behind, and knocked down before I knew what happened…! And then my materials… The ones I got to make a magic item, were stolen…! Who did… Uu…!”
“Hercus!? Hey! Hey!!”
It seemed he had reached his limit, as Hercus fell completely limp.
He was only unconscious, but considering his wounds, he needed proper treatment as soon as possible.
“Let’s get him to the infirmary! Dammit! This again!? Just how unsafe is this school!?”
Yuugo carried the unconscious Hercus on his back, and ran while sounding a little irritated.
Phi followed him, while looking at the hurt Hercus, and whispered with an expression that looked like he was about to cry.
“Who did something this awful…!? Not only attack him, but steal his materials too! It’s like something a demon would do…”
His gentle personality meant he was twice as shocked as most people would be.
And despite not knowing who it was, he was shocked by the idea that he was sharing a school with someone who attacked someone else from behind and stole his things.
Who could have mugged Hercus? Why? The answer was in the studio where they were just minutes ago…
