I’m not the only one angered by Ghise’s barbarism, Iris and Sephilia are too.
He treats other people’s lives lightly, and throws away even people close to him like they’re mere things.
Right now, Ghise really is a devil wearing human skin.
“Ghise, you really have fallen as far as one can. Looking at you now is truly sad.”
“Sephilia! You’re going to take Loyd’s side too!? We are family, bound by blood!”
“Someone who hurts people who are important to me is not worthy of calling himself my family!”
Declares Sephilia, as she swiftly draws her sword. It burns intensely, as if responding to her emotions.
And then, Sephilia steps in front of Iris to protect her, and calls out to me.
“Mister Loyd, I will protect Miss Iris, so feel free to swing your power around.”
“Yes, leave it to me! I’ll give this trash a beating for you two too!”
With that, the battle starts.
There are about fifty guards around Ghise. It’s not that big of a number, and I could end this with one high rank spell if I wanted.
But they’re innocent. They’re basically puppets following Ghise’s orders.
I don’t want to hurt them, so I take them down one at a time with just enough power to render them unconscious.
“Hau!?”
“Fugih!?”
“Memetah!?”
With every hit, a guard yells and goes down.
Their power ranks from high to a few highest ranks. There are no master ranks, so it’s easy to take them down.
All of them are down before a minute passes. Ghise is even more enraged by my power, and this time draws his own sword to attack me.
But attacks from what is basically an amateur were never going to hit me, and after I dodge the first swing, I swing my fist at his face hard.
His sword just happens to be in the trajectory of my punch, but it doesn’t matter. The sword is shattered into pieces, and my punch picks up even more speed as it hits his face.
He flies back in a straight line like a bullet, and stops only when he crashes against a wall.
His eyes are vacant, his nose is bleeding, and all of his teeth are bent. It’s clear he is no longer conscious.
“Thank you for punishing Ghise. I’m sure your hit from the soul reached his heart.”
“I hope so.”
Trash is trash no matter where. Some people change, but not many, so I’m not hoping for much from Ghise.
As I think about this vain stuff, I release Full Grow, and my eyes meet Izekiel’s, who is still lying on the ground in a stupor.
She suddenly snaps out of it and looks around, and when she sees she’s the only one left, she takes off running towards Ghise.
She stands in front of him as if to protect him, and points her staff at us.
“It seems the saintess still wants to protect him despite being treated so horribly.”
Says Iris with a baffled expression.
I don’t understand why she wants to protect Ghise that badly, so I ask. And then, she says something shocking.
“Because he took me in when I was ostracized by demons and had nowhere to go.”
“What do you mean?”
“Fufufu, I am actually… A demon.”
“!?”
“But not just any demon, I am Artemis. One of the four generals of the demon king, and the most unsightly demon in the world!”
Iris and I are surprised, but for some reason, Sephilia is silent.
From what I can tell, it seems she already knew Izekiel is a demon.
Artemis. I’ve heard that name multiple times before, as the cowardly general who was the first to run away from the battle with the hero.
A shame to all demons.
Coward.
Trash.
It’s no exaggeration to say she is the most hated among demons, and her reputation is worse than even mine.
It’s to the point where even a human like me feels sorry for her.
