“Director Jeru!”
I raise my voice and run towards her.
She stops fighting, and stares at my face.
It’s been about four years since I’ve last seen her. She looks exactly the same, still looking like she’s about ten.
Youthful, an eternal little girl with a baby face. That’s the impression I have of her.
“Who are you?”
“Eh!? Did you forget about me!? I’m Loyd. Loyd.”
“Ah, I remember. Water Ball boy.”
“Why do you remember something weird like that?”
“Fufufu, I’m joking, Loyd. You’re a lot bigger than you were four years ago. I’m glad to see you’re growing.”
Director Jeru hasn’t changed, and that feels really nostalgic to me.
“I heard about you. It looks like you’ve been up to a lot recently.”
“Things have been going very smoothly this past half a year.”
“I’m glad to hear it.”
“By the way, why are you here? Did you come here to see me?”
“Yes. I haven’t seen you in a while, so I traveled a great distance to come here. Are you happy? You are, aren’t you?”
“Stop forcing me.”
“Loyd, I want to check one thing. Did you break up with Ruby?”
“Yes, half a year ago.”
“I see. Well, life has a lot of turns. I hope you find someone even more charming.”
She says plainly. She always prioritized our autonomy, and never gave me strict orders.
Even now, she asked about Ruby just to know, not to do anything about it.
Seeing the director again makes my mouth loosen into a smile.
And then, Mars and Lela, who were standing by timidly, approach us.
“Who is she, Master Loyd?”
Asks Lela.
“This is director Jeru, who raised me.”
“Hello, I am Loyd’s mother. My son is in your care.”
She says like a parent introducing herself to a teacher.
“Eh!? Mother!?”
Mars is surprised.
“Loyd’s mother… I do see the resemblance.”
Says Lela with a soft voice.
“No, you really don’t. Don’t just say that.”
“Hehehe, sorry. But you look very young. Can I ask you how old you are?”
“Two thousand.”
“Eh?”
“Fufufu, I’m joking. I will be twenty-four this year. It is my genetics that give me this youthful look.”
“Eh, I’m jealous of your family.”
“Don’t you look young because you’re an elf, Lela?”
“Don’t talk like I’m middle-aged, Mars.”
“Ah, sorry. I didn’t mean it like that.”
Director Jeru looks on with a gentle expression at Mars and Lela’s back and forth.
“If you’re going to be in Minerva for a while, stay at my place.”
“I will, for about a week.”
And that’s how it’s decided that the person who is like a mother to me will stay here for a week.
