I’m not the only one who’s surprised by Mars’ sudden growth. His partner, Lela, and the one facing him, Sephilia, are also shocked.
“Hey hey Mars. What happened? You’ve gotten super strong.”
I ask, and Mars shows us the book he got yesterday, with no intention of hiding anything.
“I just read this book, and found my own way of the sword.”
I see that’s the reason for his awakening, but would that allow someone to grow this much?
We’re all incredulous, and Mars continues.
“Suddenly, the scenery opened up in front of me and I found myself standing on a mountaintop. I overlooked the world high above the clouds, and when I looked on from up there, saw myself, and thought about what a small existence I had, and I was able to look at my own sword.”
“I haven’t the slightest idea what you’re talking about.”
What Mars is saying so seriously feels like a fever dream.
“My sword is the sword that will pierce the heavens.”
“I-I see. Maybe this is too hard for us to understand, but if you accept it, that’s nice.”
I say.
I’m not a swordsman, so I don’t know about swordsmanship. Hearing about those principles doesn’t mean a lot to me.
Sephilia is kind of out there too, so is everyone who becomes a swordmaster like that?
After that, Sephilia tells us how she feels about the fight she lost.
She’s surprisingly calm about it, not frustrated, and responds courteously about the present situation.
“Mars is probably the strongest human right now. After all, he has achieved the heart of the sword that lies at the top of swordsmanship.”
“Heart of the sword.”
“Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. Mars can freely wield the heart of the sword. It is a conceptual thing, so if one can use it freely, he can eliminate all physical factors and cut whatever the user wants.”
The idea of wanting something to be cut and it happening sounds amazing…
But strongest human? Really? I thought Sephilia was the strongest with the sword, so I’m a bit shocked.
But I wouldn’t be much of a friend if I didn’t celebrate Mars’ growth, so I clap.
“Congratulations, Mars!”
“That’s amazing Mars! Are you really the strongest!?”
“Mister Mars, congratulations on your achievement.”
“Fufufu… I can take a week off work starting today. I could not be happier!”
Iris…!
It’s amazing how fast she’s fallen off since she returned from Roland.
Do we have to go to Roland and train one more time?
Leaving aside how Iris is no good, we make a new party with Mars at the center.
Mars, leader (Strongest human)
Sephilia (Master swordswoman)
Me (Master rank)
Lela (High rank mage)
Iris (Fallen saintess)
We could very well be called the strongest party.
“Mars Mars! Now that you’re stronger, let’s fight stronger enemies!”
“Stronger enemies?”
“Yes! I’ve always wanted to face a dragon type! Every time we saw one, we had to run away without fighting, right?”
“True. Then let’s climb the Minerva mountain range and fight a fairy dragon.”
“Eh!?”
I respond with surprise without thinking.
“Hey hey, that’s too dangerous.”
“Sensei, I am the strongest mage, who can use the heart of the sword. A fairy dragon will go down in one hit.”
“Are you sure…?”
I look at Sephilia to check.
“Mars is now the strongest human, so he should be able to defeat a fairy dragon easily.”
She says.
If she believes in his power, I’ll agree with Mars’ proposal.
Well, he’s the strongest human, so he should be able to do it.
