An exclusive mage who broke up with his alchemist childhood friend, wants to lead a slow life in a remote town – Chapter 119 – Director Jeru – Part six

The fairy dragon rests at the top of the Minerva mountain range. It’s currently designated as Area Zero, so people are forbidden from getting close.

But now that Commander Mars is the strongest human, he presents a document that states he wants to take down the fairy dragon to the guild, brimming with confidence.

The receptionist is flustered, so she calls the guildmaster, Isolte, who has a grave expression on her face when she sees the document.

“Mars, you’re brave, but know your strength. Don’t think you can beat a fairy dragon.”

She scolds Mars harshly with an equally harsh expression, but Mars bows, and a surprised Isolte falls from her chair.

“W-w-w-w-wha!? D-did you attain the heart of the sword!?”

“Eh?”

Lela and I look confused, and Sephilia explains.

“Mister Mars just manifested the heart of the sword. As I said before, it is proof that one has mastered the sword. Hence Miss Isolte’s surprise.”

“But I didn’t see any heart of the sword.”

“Me neither.”

Lela and I react the same way, and Sephilia places a hand on her chest before explaining further.

“That’s because you are not a swordsman. Miss Isolte saw Mister Mars’ heart of the sword quite clearly.”

“I-I see… Did you, Isolte?”

“Yes, I did. He pierced me with the heart of the sword, and I lost instantly.”

“Ah?”

I guess an image battle just happened without me knowing, and Mars won.

I really didn’t see anything, so it all feels like a joke being played on me.

“Umumu. If you can use the heart of the sword, I have to acknowledge your strength.”

“Thank you.”

“Have you been hiding this power?”

“No. Thanks to the book given to me by director Jeru, I saw my way of the sword and achieved enlightenment.”

“I am beyond jealous. Will you let me read it?”

“Sure.”

Mars hands the book to Isolte, and she slowly reads it.

Then she suddenly opens her eyes widely, and freezes for a few seconds.

“I see. That’s it.”

“Eh? What is?”

“It appears I also reached enlightenment.”

Eh? What’s she talking about? Isolte’s demeanor changes, and I’m really thrown off.

Lela is reacting the same way, and we can’t keep up with these swords people.

Does this enlightenment and heart of the sword stuff exist? Is that not some imaginary thing of theirs? It feels like mass delusion to me, so I take some distance, and leave with Lela and Iris.
