An exclusive mage who broke up with his alchemist childhood friend, wants to lead a slow life in a remote town – Chapter 18 – Adventurer guild – Part three – Fairy Dragon

The employee points to the middle of the lobby and continues.

“Also, the area distribution in this country is shown in the map on the big notice board, so please check it yourself. The latest updated information is pasted at seven in the morning and seven at night.

When area changes are confirmed, they are pasted right away regardless of the time, so make sure you have a look when you come to the guild. Make sure you check detailed information to protect your life.

The current Area Ones around Minerva are the ‘Depths of the Great Vidd Forest’, and ‘Depths of the Kokkoro Mine’.

And the Area Zero everyone has been interested in lately is the ‘Summit of the Minerva Mountain Range’.

“The Minerva Mountain Range is really close to here. What’s at the top?”

Asks Mars.

“Fairy Life, the Fairy Dragon. One of the five great dragons, has been spotted there.

It must have moved there for some sort of reason.

People in the guild have decided to not needlessly provoke it. If you don’t want to die, I recommend you avoid that place at all costs. Ah, I’m serious, this isn’t a lead up to anything.”

Fairy Life?

With super regenerative abilities and super high defense, it’s seen as the strongest even among the five great dragons.

Its abilities put it beyond even a master rank, making it a chronicle rank.

I’ve never seen one directly, but according to records, it’s overwhelmingly strong to the point where one destroyed the hero’s party one time a hundred years ago.

They defeated it convincingly the second time, but it still has a stand alone section in the chronicle, a history book.

The fact that one of those is chilling near the town is a terrifying sight.

That’s not good for anyone’s mental health.

“Loyd, please don’t think about going out to hunt it or anything. Really think about why the guild is letting it be.”

“I’m not an idiot. I’m not going to a dangerous place for no reason.”

“Really…? You’re not going to be facing it at the Top of the Minerva Mountain Range a week from now?”

She really doesn’t trust me at all.

Like I’d pick a fight with a monstrosity that destroyed the hero’s party!

“That’s about it. What is most important is to do your best in areas that match your rank.

Incidentally, there are bonuses from B rank and up, so do your best to aim for B rank, everyone.

Enjoy your adventurer life.”

It looks like that’s the end of the explanation, and she hands me my adventurer card.

It’s about as big as a notebook.

I swipe through it with my finger, and see my current rank, language change, ability score, active quests, and other things as I change from one screen to another.

This is pretty interesting.

I keep looking through it, and the employee warns me about it.

“If you overdo it, it will run out of magic energy quickly, so please watch out for that.”

“Can I recharge it if it does?”

“Yes, here in the guild. It’s free, but it takes about ten minutes.

Also, it might take some time until it’s your turn once it gets busy in the afternoon, so I recommend coming here when there are few people around.”

“Understood.”

Lela and Mars then turn to me with smiles.

“You did it sensei… I mean Loyd.”

It looks like he really will call me Loyd in public for now.

I’m impressed. Nice job following your girlfriend’s instructions from last night. That honesty is one of his strong points.

“Now you’re an adventurer too, Loyd.”

“What quest should we do first?”

I ask Lela.

“We can pick one that plays to your strengths.

If I had to say, I wouldn’t recommend anything about fighting intelligent opponents like exterminating bandits. They’re seen as quests with low rewards in relation to the high risk.”

“Hm, then I should just pick?”

“This is your story. Pick a quest you want.”

Says Lela like she’s a supreme ruler or something.

Then I’ll do just that.

Loyd the adventurer.

My second life is finally beginning.
