An exclusive mage who broke up with his alchemist childhood friend, wants to lead a slow life in a remote town – Chapter 87 – White-haired girl – Part one

It’s been three days since the fishing tournament. There hasn’t really been any new trouble, and life in Minerva has been peaceful.

Iris put up a request with the guild, so she’s feeling better, and her usual smile is back.

Anyway, it’s almost Till’s birthday, so I’ve been talking with Iris about getting her a present.

“How about we make biscuits together?”

Biscuits?

Showing gratitude with food might not be bad.

“Nero is the person to go when it comes to sweets, so how about we visit him tomorrow?”

“Yes, that’s good. I haven’t seen him in a while either, so I want to go.”

Says Iris, so that settles it.

We decide to go to Nero’s place tomorrow, and say goodbye for today.

The next morning, we head to Nero’s cafe, but Till isn’t with Iris today. She’s taking the day off, and so is Sephilia.

When we get to Nero’s maid cafe, he’s very happy to see Iris. The maids are also happy to see her, and I hear them happily whispering about the saintess.

She has been officially recognized as Minerva’s saintess since the harvest festival, so she’s even more popular, to the point where people praise her as she walks down the street.

“Ooh, Iris? You came to visit?”

“Yes. I’m glad to see you’re doing well.”

“I am I am. Business has been booming ever since I rebranded to a maid cafe.”

“That is good to hear. But we have a favor to ask you today.”

“Me?”

“It’s almost Till’s birthday, so we want you to teach us how to make tasty biscuits.”

“That’s nice. Till’s birthday… Yes, it’s around this time.”

Looks like he didn’t know. It was only Sephilia and Iris who did.

“Let’s get started then…”

Says Iris, but then…

“L-Loyd, we have trouble!”

“Help us sensei!”

Mars and Lela burst in sounding panicked.

“What happened?”

“Sephilia has been kidnapped!”

Says Mars.”

“Eh!? That Sephilia!?”

Iris is surprised, and with good reason.

Sephilia is a master rank swordswoman. I can’t believe someone could kidnap her.

“It sounds like you two were there when it happened.”

“Yes, we were. It happened suddenly while she was training me with the sword.”

“I see.”

“Sephilia was challenged by the kidnapper, who said she wanted her as bait.”

“That person must not have a lot of love for her life.”

“Normally I’d agree, but Sephilia lost without making a dent on her!”

W-what!?

“Sephilia really lost?”

“Yes. And she carried the unconscious Sephilia away.”

If that’s true, it really is trouble. We need to rescue her right away.

“Sniff sniff.”

I suddenly hear sniffles, and see that Iris is crying.

“W-what is it, Iris.”

“I’m sure Sephilia was attacked because of me.”

“Eeh!? N-no way! How could a nice girl like you make someone hate them!?”

“But I’m a false saintess, so…”

“No! You’re not a false saintess!”

I say strongly, and Iris looks at me with surprise.

“That’s just what Ghise said. Everyone here believes in you as a saintess from the bottom of their hearts. That’s because you keep acting like a real saintess.”

“Yes Iris! A kind person like you can’t be the cause!”

“I agree!”

Say Lela and Mars.

Iris’ eyes moisten as she hears us, and she wipes them with her sleeve.

“You have good friends, Iris.”

Says Nero, as he puts his hand on her head.

Iris nods with tears of happiness in her eyes, and they look almost like parent and child.

“Anyway, the real reason why Sephilia was kidnapped was Loyd.”

“Eh?”

I let out a weird sound after Lela’s shocking statement.
