We tell Isolte we’re leaving, but she asks us to delay it for a day.
She’s contacting the intelligence department in the capital to gather information about White Rose. They were the ones who confirmed Black Raven’s identity, so I gladly agree.
Since we don’t know where our destination is, there’s a good chance this will be a long journey, so no amount of preparation is too much.
Also, Iris is the official saintess of Minerva at this point, so there’s going to be a lot of confusion if she’s suddenly gone. Especially considering it’s for personal reasons.
And there are steps to go through in order for her to leave Minerva temporarily for official reasons.
“I will take care of things to make sure Miss Iris can leave undisturbed, so you three should go first.”
“Three… So me, sensei, and Lela?”
“Yes, your absence won’t disturb life in Minerva, but Miss Iris is different. She is an important part of the peace in Minerva.”
“I guess Minerva can get by without us, but without Iris, there’s no one to purify the land. You’re right, Isolte.”
Mars nods, but Lela doesn’t look too happy.
“Ah? Won’t it be a big loss to lose a beautiful lady such as myself? I have a lot of fans in Minerva. I even have a fanclub.”
“I guess your face really is very cute.”
“And this is an erotic light novel written by the fanclub.”
“Don’t take out a weapon like that with a carefree face.”
“Why do you have that…”
“It’s only good manners to accept a present from my fans. And the genre is the BSS that has been popular lately.”
“BSS?”
“It’s a new emerging genre that I liked from the start, and now took those initials. A legendary demon (♀) is taken by a main character with a lot of plot armor, and falls to the darkness. It’s a big hit with young people right now. This light novel follows that template too. By the way, the boy doing the NTR’ing is Mars, so don’t worry.”
“What am I even hearing?”
“Sensei, it’s too late for her, let her go. Anyway, what Isolte is saying is very important.”
“Ah, yes.”
Are there special genres like those around? The darkness of people’s minds is frightening.
Isolte clears her throat, and continues.
“I will take responsibility for Miss Iris, so you can go first. That means it will be just the three of you traveling, but is that all right?”
“No problem. Thank you very much for arranging all of this, Isolte.”
“That’s not necessary, just bring Sephilia back safely.”
“““Yes!”””
We respond at the same time, and go to the market to prepare for tomorrow.
News that Sephilia was kidnapped hasn’t made its way around town, so the townspeople all look peaceful.
I want us to bring her back as soon as possible, so I can continue my peaceful life…
“Master Loyd, your expression is getting dark. Smile!”
Lela smiles to cheer me up.
She says a lot of weird stuff, but it’s when she says something like this that you really feel that she’s a nice girl.
“Sensei, there’s a tavern over there. How about we have lunch there? I’m hungry from thinking so much.”
“Yes, I think that’s fine. And let’s ask around for any clues too.”
We open the door and go in. When you hear the word tavern, you might think about a lot of people drinking, but in Minerva, people trade information, and mostly use them as regular dining halls.
The hamburger steaks here are especially good, so I come here often.
We’re taken to a table, and sit together.
And as we look through the menu and look around the place, I hear an angry yell from a table further in the back.
“Dammit! I lost again!”
“Kekeke. I win again. Gimme the ten gold coins like we agreed.”
“T-ten gold coins!? That’s not what we said. It was one.”
“Sudden inflation. The approval rating went down.”
“W-what kind of joke is this!”
The guy that lost suddenly flips the table out of anger.
If it was just this, I would’ve laughed it off as a fight between two punks, but the angry guy’s shirt is flung away as he suddenly turns into a monster.
He’s two meters tall, his skin is green, and he has two horns on his head.
It’s a green ogre, a rare monster not often seen in Merzelia.
“Fuah!?”
“S-sensei! A demon! He disguised himself as a person to sneak into our society!”
“Demons have been getting smarter lately…”
“Don’t be impressed! We need to take him down!”
The green ogre looks like it’s about to kill that guy out of anger.
“Okay, Stay here.”
I say, and immediately run with my staff in hand. I cast Grow, and kick it in the torso with my strengthened body.
The green ogre is flung away, breaks the glass window, and lands outside.
“Are you hurt?”
“M-Mister Loyd!? Thank you for saving me!”
“I get things getting heated, but pick who you’re betting with better. Imagine how stupid it would be if you lost your life because you won a game.”
“Yeeeeeeees! I’ll remember that!”
The man kneels and bows, showing he learned his lesson.
Well then, the green ogre I kicked isn’t dead, and is now currently glaring at me.
“Damn you…! Kicking me all of a sudden!”
“Sorry. I tried to hold back a lot, but did it hurt more than I expected?”
“A human getting carried away…! You’re not gonna get away with this. My target’s that Loyd, but I’ll kill you first!”
“Ah?”
Target?
Kill me?
Hey hey hey, what is this guy saying all of a sudden?
I’m taken aback by what the demon guy is saying, but he immediately swings his arm up and attacks me.
“Die! Human!”
“Shut up, I’m thinking.”
I immediately chant a spell, and unleash the high rank spell Ice Spear.
It hits the guy directly in the torso, and he freezes instantly.
Geez, I can’t handle all this new information.
