The green ogre’s attack was good news to me. After all, he knew where Sephilia is.
“That was surprising.”
“I didn’t expect Roland to get involved now… I’m sure they want Iris back.”
Say Mars and Lela. It sounds like they can’t hold back their anger towards Roland’s stubbornness.
But I think it’s odd. I formed a contract with Ghise half a year ago.
It was all about him not touching Iris again, and the curse meant he would die if he broke the contract.
I thought he would never try anything again, so it’s completely unexpected for me.
Maybe White Rose got something not good into him.
In any case, if that’s what they’re doing, I’ll do whatever I have to.
I’ll go there directly again and beat some sense into Ghise.
There are two paths to Roland.
・Use a transportation magic circle in the capital.
・Follow the road without transportation magic circles.
If we’re thinking about safety, the first option is the best. The second might lead us to an ambush by the assassin called White Rose.
Since we know where Sephilia is, we’re telling Isolte we’re leaving as soon as possible.
“How are you getting to Roland?”
Sure enough, she asks about that, and I tell her about the magic circle in the capital, which surprises her a lot.
“It’s hard to believe, but if you say so, it must be true.”
“I’m sorry I never told you about it.”
“Don’t worry. In fact, I feel like it solves a mystery about what happened in the capital.”
“What do you mean?”
“Half a year ago, when the dispute between Roland and Minerva was solved. That was you, weren’t you, Loyd?”
“…”
“Your silence tells me it’s true. You really are amazing. You do things a regular human could never dream of doing. I’m sure you can bring Sephilia back.”
Then Isolte says she will have a wagon ready to go to the capital today.
Since we know exactly where we’re going, Isolte is kindly letting Iris leave right away. This is all because she’s putting Iris’ feelings first.
This change doesn’t benefit Minerva at all, and is just inconvenient for Isolte, but she smiles gently and tells us not to worry about it.
I really do just keep bothering her…
I promise myself once again that I’ll bring Sephilia back.
After the sun sets, Iris, Mars, Lela, and I get on a wagon to Minerva. Isolte isn’t coming along this time.
She has other things to do, so she can’t leave Minerva right now. And Till is staying too for her safety.
White Rose and her minions will definitely be after my life. There’s a good change Mars, Lela, and Iris will get involved too.
I need to protect them…
I hold my staff where they can’t see it, and grip it tightly.
◆ ◆ ◆
We’re attacked half a day after we leave.
A giant spear flies towards our wagon. I cast defensive magic quickly, so none of us inside are hurt, but the driver is killed instantly, and the four horses are torn apart.
“Eek…!?”
“Hawawawawawa!? W-what happened!?”
“Lela, are you okay!?”
Iris, Lela, and then Mars yell.
They can’t follow this situation at all, and they’re all panicking. They won’t be helpful in this state, so I analyze things calmly, and use Detection magic in all directions.
I sense magic energy to the northeast.
“Grow.”
I immediately cast magic to strengthen myself, and run towards the attacker.
Seconds later, I’m facing our enemy.
It’s a two meter tall man with a black beard, who looks to be in his early seventies.
He’s holding a spear that’s about as big as him. He looks like a vagrant, especially with his ragged clothes.
“Did you do it?”
“What if I did, young mage of the west.”
That confirms it.
Still, I’m feeling so much pressure from just standing in front of him… And that attack too. That was meant to kill everyone, not just me. I need to put him down here, or he’ll be dangerous.
“If I know you’re an enemy, I can’t rest until you’re down by my hand.”
“You’ve got guts. You’re pretty experienced to not shrink back in front of me.”
“I fought plenty of dangerous things in Area Zero. Looking at a guy like you makes me feel nothing, so die.”
I’m not going to wait and see, I’m going for it right from the start.
I cast Full Grow to strengthen myself to the limit, and instantly close the distance between us.
The man opens his eyes wide with surprise because of my speed, but I keep going and punch him in the stomach.
He bounces several times as he rolls on the ground, and I activate several magic circles without an incantation.
“Trinity Ragnarok.”
Water Daedalus, Lightning Storm, Explosion.
I fire the new spell that combines several elements, and blow the scenery in front of me away.
