Dust hangs in the air, and the tip of a spear flies right at me.
I immediately twist myself to doge it, but it takes part of my robe.
I don’t know how this works, but it seems to shrink and grow, as thrusts keep coming after my vital areas despite the man being over ten meters away.
I evade them with as little movement as possible, and analyze the enemy in front of me.
I’m very surprised that he survived that magic, but the fact that he can instantly strike back makes me think he’s not just a crazy person. It’s clear he’s a master rank, and a seasoned warrior.
Usually, when a warrior and a mage go against each other, the warrior comes out on top when it comes to pure power.
The mage has no chance of winning in a close quarters battle.
Being constantly near death brings fear, but strangely, I feel calm.
I see the enemy’s attacks, and calmly deal with them. I even hear something from him that sounds like praise.
“Mage, that strength is enough to amaze. I haven’t fought this seriously in about four thousand years.
“What are you?”
I ask while evading his intense attacks.
“The Three Eyed Raging Demon. The supreme ruler of Catastrophe.”
“…The leader Black Raven talked about?”
“Yes. It seems you took care of our Black Raven quite a bit.”
I must be pretty popular, for the boss of Catastrophe to come after me directly.
That said, it doesn’t really feel real to me that the strange old guy that suddenly appeared in front of me is actually the final boss.
I guess the one thing about him that feels like a final boss is the two meter height?
In any case, if he’s their chief, there’s only one thing to do. Take him down and end it here!
I activate multiple magic circles, and unleash all sorts of spells against him, pressing him with sheer mass from all sides.
“Catastrophe never forgets a grudge. I’ll make sure you know that.”
He says, and after destroying all the magic with his spear, he charges directly towards me.
I activate defensive magic, but he breaks through and keeps going.
He unleashes his attack, and I use my staff as a shield.
The strong impact sends me flying back.
“Hou! A staff with unbreakable diamond properties!? That’s quite the nice thing you have!”
Three Eyed Raging Demon laughs with an amused tone, but doesn’t slow down his attacks.
“An alchemist I know made it for me.”
“Fuhahaha, I don’t care how you got it. I haven’t seen one of my attacks blocked since that saintess!”
“Saintess?”
“Kuhahahaha! Let’s see how long you can withstand my attacks!”
The Three Eyed Raging Demon doesn’t answer my question, and unleashes attacks from above like a waterfall.
It’s like a rain of spears.
I have no time to cast spells.
My first attack only hit because I caught him off guard, but now that he’s serious, I see he’s far stronger than me.
But I still can’t lose. I promised Isolte I would bring Sephilia back to Minerva.
I’ve been causing Isolte trouble ever since that mess on the first day, but she always treated me fairly. She didn’t even change her posture after knowing I was Loyd, the exclusive mage.
I want to repay her, so I can’t allow the peace in her precious Minerva to be disturbed.
I’ll kill even a god if it means Minerva is safe.
“Hey, little demon.”
“Hn?”
“I’ll tell you why demons can’t beat humans.”
I unleash the secondary magic energy I’ve been hiding all this time.
“Wha!?”
Three Eyed Raging Demon opens his eyes wide, and that opening is enough for me to cause an explosion beneath my feet that sends me flying towards him.
I hold my staff forward.
“Water Ball.”
I’ve done these moves hundreds of millions of times, and water magic energy focuses in one spot.
“Water Ball here!? You can’t possibly think beginner magic…”
“It’s not just a Water Ball.”
“!?”
I did this ten thousand times every day when I was a kid, so this is my most perfected spell.
This Water Ball has the most power out of any spell I use. After all, the magic energy put into making it is a thousand times the amount I normally use.
Normally, a spell can’t hold that much magic energy without bursting, but it’s different when it’s something I’ve repeated until I vomited blood.
It won’t waver no matter how much magic energy I put into it.
This is the sure fire way to kill a demon my master taught me. Beginner magic concentrated to its limit.
A line of water flies towards my enemy with a speed not fitting of the words Water Ball, and destroys his whole body without a scrap left behind.
It doesn’t feel like he blocked it like before, and I feel it in my magic energy that he’s gone.
The exhaustion hits me all at once when I know he’s dead, and I sit on the ground.
“Ahh… I don’t think I’ve been this tired in years.”
An enemy of this magnitude appearing all of a sudden is really bad for the heart.
