“How do I taste… I mean, my food…?”
“…It’s the best. But like, those words would be enough for me.”
“It’s very good, in both ways. And I would be really happy if I could hear the first part again.”
“I-I’m glad you like it…?”
Keira and Cress were enjoying Theo’s cooking.
It was very good, but more importantly, it had the warmth of a home-cooked meal.
Technically speaking, it was not as good as a meal one would have in an expensive restaurant in the capital, but once Theo’s character and care were added to the mix, they felt as though they could eat it every day.
(I really do want to marry him and eat this every day ya know?)
(He’s married to me already.)
(What are you talking about?)
They communicated once again with their eyes, while Theo was completely unaware.
The two women sat on a bench, while Theo sat on a chair in front of them.
Cress made sure Theo’s chair was very soft and comfortable.
“Are you two mercenaries?”
They had just met after Keira and Cress decided to hit on Theo, because his appearance was exactly what they were after.
They succeeded in a different way than they were expecting, and ended up eating on the hill.
They were planning to take Theo to an inn right away, but were having a good time nonetheless.
“That’s right, and we’re pretty strong too! We even get named quests from nobles!”
“Eh!? Really!? That’s incredible!”
“It is. I’m pretty great, so keep the praise coming.”
“Cress was supposed to say we are great, but it’s just like her to just brag about herself.”
“Fufu, you two are good friends.”
While in the middle of their usual back and forth, they saw the smile of an angel.
(This is like heaven.)
(We started hitting on an angel before we knew it. I want to turn him into a fallen angel so bad.)
(Corrupting an angel… Nice uh?)
They thought as they ate.
“What about you Theo? You look like you’re the son of a merchant that works here in the capital or something.”
Based on looks alone, Theo appeared to be the son of a noble or merchant, but it was strange for either to raise such a pure boy.
“N-no. I’m just visiting the capital. Normally I’m a mercenary somewhere else.”
“You’re a mercenary?”
“Yes, but I’m really weak. Nowadays I can take down a few goblins, but still…”
Said Theo with a bitter smile, to which the two women responded without hesitation.
“It’s fine! Everyone’s weak at first. You’re still young so keep at it!
“That’s right. We won’t abandon you even if you’re weak. We’ll raise you well.”
“…! Keira…! Cress…!”
Theo happily smiled, and it seemed like his face was glowing.
He did not fully understand what Cress meant when she said they would raise him, and ignored it.
He was getting used to how Cress spoke.
“Thank you very much you two! I’ll do my best!”
“Hahaha, that’s great!”
“Yes. I only wish to protect your smile.”
They finally finished eating.
Cress ate the last side-dish. She took it quickly after seeing Keira put the second to last one in her mouth.
Keira was a little annoyed, but let it go.
After all, the fun they had been waiting for was about to begin.
“Thanks Theo! That was great!”
“I’m glad you liked it!”
“Yes, it was very good. I’m going to starve to death because I can’t eat anything else.”
“Hahaha, you’re exaggerating.”
Theo put away the boxes while laughing, and the two women looked at each other.
(Let’s go. We’re going now.)
(Yes, I can’t hold back any longer. I want to finish our meal by eating Theo down there.)
(That’s a super dirty joke but yes!!)
They agreed on their next course of action, and moved to put it into practice.
“Now Theo! We’re gonna take you somewhere nice as thanks for the meal!”
“Eh? No, I was thanking you for buying the sword…”
“You can forget about the sword, the meal was too nice. We are the ones who owe you now.”
“N-no! This isn’t enough to thank you two!”
“If you think you’re not done thanking us, how about you come with us!?”
“Yes. We’ll take you to a really nice place.”
“Hou? Where are you taking my Theo?”
“Well obviously… Eh? Did you say something Cress?”
“…No. It came from behind us.”
There were only three people present, but somehow they heard a fourth voice.
It came from behind Keira. She slowly turned around, as she started to remember where she heard that voice before.
She wished from the bottom of her heart that she was wrong. If the person she was thinking of really did say ‘my Theo’, she could only see this ending very badly.
However, god did not answer her prayers.
“I will ask again. Where do you think you’re taking my Theo?”
Asked a devil.
