I was reincarnated on an island where the strongest species live, so I will enjoy a peaceful life on this island – Chapter 102 – Sakuya’s feelings

So it’s Graham the ancient dragon that Sakuya has feelings for. That’s about what I expected.

That doesn’t mean it’s a simple problem to solve though.

“Since when did you…”

“Hum… He actually saved me before…”

She says it happened when she was little, when she went to watch a fight with the ancient dragons.

Gyes told her not to follow him, but she was sulking because her dear brother wasn’t paying attention to her, so she ignored him. And then a stray bullet of sorts came flying.

‘Hey, are you all right?’

It was almost a serious injury, but Graham saved her, and pat her head when she started crying because she was scared.

And he’s been in her thoughts ever since.

“Ehh…”

“Uuu… It’s so embarrassing…”

Reina looks happy though.

Yes, it does look like a situation a girl would like. I’d like to be in one like that too.

And from the point of view of someone as young as she was, he must’ve looked like a prince on a white horse. Since then, Sakuya always asked Gyes about Graham when he came back.

“Hearing about him from my brother just made those feelings grow.”

Graham is at the top in terms of power, even among ancient dragons.

Only Gyes fights him head on, and he was also the closest person she could ask about him.

Gyes thought his little sister wanted to hear tales of his great battles, and gladly obliged… Oh well…

“But I cannot see my brother ever accepting it.”

“Considering how those two feel about each other… Yes.”

“Yes… That is why I have always kept these feelings hidden.”

“Do you think so? I think he might actually accept it.”

I say, and the other two look confused.

“Why do you think so? Don’t you know how much those two dislike each other, Arata?”

“I just don’t think they get along that badly, actually.”

“Eh…”

Yes, they immediately insult each other when they meet, but I think that’s because they see each other as equals.

“They feel so strongly about not wanting to lose to the other, because they both acknowledge the other.”

“I don’t see where you’re going with this.”

“Hum… Do you think my brother truly accepts Mister Graham?”

“Yes. So I don’t think you should give up.”

When I say that, her face brightens. She looks both happy and embarrassed.

Any man would find her charming, and I’m sure Graham would be no exception if he saw this face.

“You can do it, Sakuya!”

“Yes. I’m glad I spoke about this.”

They’re both happy, but I can think of a few issues.

“But there are other problems…”

Honestly, whether or not Gyes accepts it is only the first hurdle.

“First, how does Graham feel?”

“Sakuya is so lovely! I’m sure it will be fine!”

“I see… Reina, you’re surprisingly no good at this sort of thing.”

“No… Good?”

My direct comment leaves Reina frozen with her eyes wide open.

“Well, it just sort of came out…”

“It came out? You mean how you actually felt?”

I turn away.

She can do anything, but I guess the fine points of love are beyond her.

Come to think of it, Tiltue also turned to Merlin when she wanted to talk about love. I guess she felt it instinctively.

“So about Graham’s feelings… Does he even know you?”

“Hum…”

“You haven’t gone to see their fights since, right?”

“…Yes.”

Then I don’t think he knows about her.

I doubt Gyes and the other demon gods said anything either.

“It might have been a dramatic meeting for you, Sakuya, but for Graham, it was probably a normal thing.”

“If Sakuya felt it was fate, Graham might have felt it too!”

Let’s just ignore Reina.

“So that should come first.”

“Getting Mister Graham to acknowledge me?”

“Yes. You won’t get anywhere if he doesn’t want to be with you in the first place.”

But that’s not where the problems end.

How do the demon gods feel about love with another race? As far as I can tell from Tiltue, the ancient dragons don’t seem to care, but…

“…Wait. If an ancient dragon marries a demon god, what happens with their children?”

This island is big, but only about as big as Hokkaido.

If this isn’t the first time love has bloomed like this, there should be biracial people.

“When they are born, they inherit the power of an ancestor, and become that race.”

“Is that how it’s decided?”

“Yes, if Mister Graham and I… Were to have children, they would be raised on the side they were born into.”

“Eh…”

So there might be people of other races in the divine beast people’s village and the alfar village too?

I don’t remember seeing them…

“When the children grow to a certain point, the parent goes back to their village.”

“I see.”

That would leave fewer people then.

It’s not like any of the villages have a lot of children, and none of these races would die easily. That probably makes leaving offspring harder on an instinctual level.

“Then I guess love between different races wouldn’t be a problem.”

“…Yes.”

“Has it ever happened with ancient dragons and demon gods?”

“Not that I know of”

They don’t get along in the first place.

Maybe it’s different once it actually happens, but they don’t seem like they would be very receptive to the idea of love between them.

“But don’t worry. There’s a first for everything.”

“Yes!”

That said, it’s clear what must be done. First, Sakuya has to meet Graham.

If I introduce her, he won’t just completely disregard her. But just in case, let’s keep quiet about her being Gyes’ little sister.

The rest is up to them.

We can create an opportunity for them to get closer, but it would be wrong for strangers to force it.

“What do you think?”

“Thank you!”

“No no, this is for the sake of my dream too.”

“Dream?”

Asks Sakuya, and I respond, full of confidence.

“Yes, to have a big banquet with all the races of this island involved.”

“Oh… That is wonderful.”

“Thanks.”

I need the cooperation of the ancient dragons and demon gods for that to happen.

If things go well between Graham and Sakuya, that brings me one step closer to my dream coming true.

“So let me help if I can.”

“Of course.”

From that point of view, this whole thing is an important mission for the sake of my dream.

Of course, I don’t intend to overstep my boundaries, but I do want this to go well.

“Let’s do our best then.”

“Yes!”

Then we start making plans for Sakuya and Graham to meet.

Sometimes Reina chimes in with a smug expression, with stuff she must have read somewhere, and we look at her with lukewarm expressions.

Then the night wears on, we spend another relaxing day in the demon gods’ village, and the morning after that…

“…”

“…”

I wake up with an incredibly beautiful, blonde haired girl cuddling next to me, and freeze up completely.
