I was reincarnated on an island where the strongest species live, so I will enjoy a peaceful life on this island – Chapter 116 – Waiting at home

“Snow wins!”

“D-did I lose…”

Snow and Noname are playing a fishing game.

The idea is that toy fish go around a circular board, and you drop a line and catch them.

It’s a replica of something I remember from my world, that Reina made it so it moves via magic energy. It’s one of Snow’s current favorites.

“More!”

“Yes, and I’m not losing this time.”

They sit with the small toy between them, and cast their lines into the moving board.

It’s a charming sight, made a little funnier by how serious Noname looks.

“Yay!”

“Muu…”

And Snow is happy to win again.

Noname is frustrated, and pokes the fish on her line.

“But it’s a very good magic item despite being a toy.”

“Eh? Is it?”

“Yes. It isn’t easy to make such a sensitive magic item, whose movements repeat without the slightest deviation. It takes proper skill.”

By the way, I told Reina about this magic item, and she quickly put a blueprint together. And then she just made it as I said.

I thought about this when it was time to build the house too, but the fact that she can make a playable toy like that really shows that she’s just too capable.

“You really are a doting parent, to go that far for a kid’s toy.”

She sounds a little exasperated, but there’s no ill will in her voice. In fact, it sounds soft.

“Daddy and mommy made it.”

“You really are loved, Snow.”

“Yes! And Snow loves them too!”

She pushes the toy aside and charges towards me.

As always, she carries a strong impact, but I can somehow stop her with my near invincible body.

But Snow, don’t just toss aside the toy she made for you.

“By the way, did you remember anything?”

I ask while patting Snow’s hair, and Noname shakes her head.

“Unfortunately, no. I don’t even know where those words I said before came from. I don’t think I can remember those things consciously.”

“I see…”

I thought for sure she remembered something when magic items were brought up. That’s too bad.

But I can somehow tell from how she talks that she’s a noted mage. If I talk to Reina and the others, we’re probably going to find some sort of hint to help her remember.

“Anyway, stay here for the night.”

“Yes, sorry…”

Suddenly, Noname’s expression turns serious, and she looks outside.

I look too, thinking something’s out there, and I feel a strong power.

Apparently a monster of this island is coming near.

“It’s fine since I’m here. It’ll probably go somewhere.”

“I see… I feel a somewhat strong power, but if you say so, I believe it.”

I’m a little surprised to hear that.

Monsters of this island are so strong, that even members of the seven great mages like Xellos and Merlin were ready to die.

They’ve become considerably stronger, and can beat some of the monsters, but still have trouble with rabbit class monsters unless they’re ready to go for a draw.

So she felt that power, and called it somewhat strong. Does that mean she’s actually pretty strong?

I try getting a better feel for that power.

“I’d say it’s about on the level of an emperor boar…”

The moment I say that, Snow’s eyes shine.

“Meat!?”

“No, I can’t tell if it’s edible. And I’m not hunting it if it’s not coming here.”

“Really…”

I feel the presence coming from the sky, so it’s probably a large bird. It might be edible then.

And now I feel sorry for how disappointed Snow looks, so maybe I’ll go hunt it…

“Mu, it’s leaving.”

“Ah…”

Apparently it sensed me.

The monster’s presence leaves, and Snow looks up with disappointment.

“We’ll eat something nice when mommy gets home.”

“Yay.”

I pat Snow’s head, but come to think of it, are those three all right?

Xellos and Merlin went too, so it must mean it’s related to magic…

“Oh?”

“Hn? What?”

“No…”

Wil’s presence disappeared, even though she’s supposedly sleeping here.

“Snow, did Wil say anything?”

“No.”

“I see.”

So she really did just leave without saying anything.

I don’t really mind, but I’m curious about why she didn’t say anything if I’m here in the living room.

“I see… The strong person in the back is gone.”

“Yes. It looks like she went somewhere.”

“I see…”

Noname’s expression turns a little serious.

“I felt a nostalgic presence…”

“Nostalgic?”

“I know right? What am I saying, when I don’t even remember anything?”

I felt like she reminded me of Wil when I first saw her.

Could it be that she’s also an immortal being, and knew Wil before she came to this island?

“How about I introduce you to her when she gets back?”

“…Ah…”

She nods after a pause. I wonder what’s going on in her mind.

“Still…”

Reina and the others left in a hurry, Wil suddenly disappeared, and Noname came to the island.

“It looks like things are going to get busy again.”

Then again, I guess that’s how it always is.

It’s been one hectic and fun day after the other ever since I got here, without much in the way of calm.
