It’s been a few days since we all talked to the girls about Arc. And as rumors spread, at this point, Ceres and Erie are the only two that don’t know.
“No, hold on! Why does everyone know!?”
“Hum…”
Arc comes to my house looking troubled, but don’t ask me.
I told Reina, and Snow, Tiltue, and Katima were nearby, so they also heard it. And they told the great spirits when they came to visit.
Zephir told Edinburgh, which then led to Wil hearing it. Graham told Sakuya, who told Gyes.
Tiltue told Merlin and Xellos…
“And it did the rounds like that, see?”
“Don’t give me that! Geez…”
It’s the sort of thing that happens in small villages. Once you tell one person, the whole village knows.
Arc is at his wit’s end, but I want him to consider that at least the two people who really shouldn’t have heard about it, haven’t.
Also, sharing information like this is necessary for the plan.
“Come on, we need to solve the problem with Ceres, that’s the biggest issue.”
“…Is that really why? You’re not just having fun with this?”
Arc isn’t typically one to get suspicious, but he’s looking at me like he doesn’t believe me.
I guess there’s an element of enjoyment to it, but I didn’t expect it to spread so much.
It was like this with Sakuya and Graham too, so I guess people like talking about love no matter the race.
“From what the girls have heard from Ceres, it looks like she hasn’t given up on the idea of giving herself to god as a saint.”
“Yes. She has been a saint for a long time, so even if the church betrayed her, the teachings of god are very important to her.”
“But there are many godlike entities on this island, so it’s all right!”
Reina and the others already prepared something.
And so, we leave the house and enter the southern forest, on the way to the high elves’ village.
There are colorful flowers around, and the soft sunlight matches well with the gentle breeze.
There are animals drinking water, and no matter how many times I see this, I can’t help but feel like this is a beautiful vision of heaven…
“Wait, get down.”
“!?”
We hide behind a tree, and poke our heads out.
There’s a beautiful plain and a lake in front of us, and beyond it are Ceres and Erie. And Miss Miriel is hovering in front of them with a divine glow.
“So what are…”
“Shh!”
I haven’t told Arc what we’re doing yet. I don’t want to get his hopes up in case it fails.
Miss Miriel is the one on this island that most resembles an angel, and angels are like servants of god. And like their messengers.
Even I feel like this is pretty messy, but I feel like Ceres will have an easier time accepting it if Miss Miriel speaks for god and tells her she can get married.
It looks like Miss Miriel is already talking, so I’m joining in halfway through, but I wonder what she’s saying.
‘And god proclaimed that I would be everyone’s mommy.’
“W-what are they saying?”
I can hear them despite being far away if I focus, but Arc can’t.
…But really, what are they talking about? I can hear them, and I still don’t get it.
It sounds like it’s about the fun of taking care of kids as a mom, but I wonder what really…
‘Listen Ceres. A child born between two people who love each other is a gift from god. Mommy will love lots more children… Rather than being worshiped, god is happier if these children are loved. And so, you don’t need to offer your life. Rather, you should have plenty of adorable children.’
I feel like her real thoughts are slipping in there, but at least she’s guiding Ceres towards being able to love.
“Let’s wait a bit.”
I stop focusing, and wait with Arc while hidden.
Erie looks pretty nervous, but Ceres has a serious expression on her face, like she’s listening to a true oracle from god.
After a while, Ceres suddenly starts crying.
Erie holds her to console her, and then starts crying with her. But Miss Miriel has a soft smile on her face, so I assume it’s not bad.
“Ceres! Erie!”
But Arc doesn’t seem to agree, and he jumps out with a really serious expression.
The girls never expected him to be here, so they’re both surprised to see him.
…From this point on, it’s up to them.
“Good luck.”
I say as I turn back to go home, but then I remember something.
“…If I leave them here, they won’t be able to go back.”
I assume Miss Miriel would help, but she’s helped so much already, that I don’t want to bother her even more…
Oh well. I kind of feel like a peeping tom, but I’ll keep watching them from here.
And then…
“That’s nice, it looks like it went well.”
“““…”””
We leave the high elves’ village and head back, but those three don’t say a word.
I’m assuming their faces are red because I saw everything, but that can’t be all there is to it.
After that, they became lovers without any particular issues, but that change in their relationship has probably made a lot of feelings swirl inside them.
They’re so innocent.
It makes me want to mess with them, but I don’t want anything bad to happen from someone uninvolved joking around, so I’ll just be happy for them.
“And Arc’s declaration was really cool and manly.”
‘I want to make you both happy, so never leave my side!’
I didn’t even have to focus to hear that, despite being far away.
The animals around them got worked up too all of a sudden, and Miss Miriel looked all anguished. There was a big mess.
“Ah, when you say it like that…”
““…””
The two girls’ faces get red again, probably because they’re thinking back to it.
They’re both holding his cloak, not wanting to leave him.
How innocent… I’m not Miss Miriel, but I’m also feeling like I saw something nice.
“But now I feel like I got a load off my shoulders.”
“Hn?”
“Because I wanted to be with Ceres and Erie all this time.”
He said he liked them before, when he asked for advice.
But since Ceres offered her life to god as a saint, she couldn’t get married or have children, so he could only be with Erie.
Being with just Erie was an option too, but he cared for both girls that went through all that hardship with him.
“That’s nice, isn’t it?”
“…Yes.”
“Yes…”
Both girls are happy to hear him, and hold his arms.
I would’ve probably been jealous if I saw this back in Japan, but now, it’s cute.
“Everyone’s relationships are changing…”
From the strongest races to the hero and saint, everyone’s people.
A lot changes as time goes by, and from where I’m standing, it feels like they’re moving forward.
“…I need to do my best too.”
I tell myself, as I see the three of them looking happy.
