Wil says there was a change in my body. I don’t feel it at all…
“I didn’t feel like explaining anymore, but… Like I said, part of your body is made up of Yggdrasil.”
“Ah, that’s right, you did.”
I’ve never given much thought to the body given to me by god after I reincarnated, but I guess even god can’t create something out of nothing.
So the materials were from Yggdrasil.
“You said part, so there’s more?”
“Yes. Not just Yggdrasil, but also earth and water of this island, among all sorts of things.”
“…I see.”
So that’s why it’s so sturdy.
Sure, a body created on an island made for the strongest races to kill each other would be invulnerable to wounds or illness.
After all, no matter how crazy people like her get, the island holds firm.
“You don’t look surprised.”
“It just makes sense to me.”
“…I guess I was the idiot for being considerate.”
Wil says with an exasperated expression.
But people of this island are treated like they’re monsters, and the body I got was a cheat from god.
So my body was something I got from talking directly to god, not to mention that being reincarnated was a lot more surprising.
Learning that at this point just makes me ask so what.
“So, does my body have anything to do with what you just did?”
“You were bit by Nidhogg and those followers to save Yggdrasil, right?”
Thinking back, yes. After all, that way, I could grab them and drag them around.
“Those beasts eat magic energy of Yggdrasil. You didn’t notice it, but your magic energy got considerably weaker.”
“Eh? I didn’t feel that at all…”
But it’s true that even if she didn’t have any ill will, I feel like I’ve withstood every attack from Wil so far.
“So you really didn’t realize it… Up until recently, you were able to kill even people of this island. Apparently others like Suzaku noticed it…”
She starts mumbling, but now that I’ve gotten calmer from talking, my mind is on something else.
“Hum, Wil… Can you put some clothes on…”
“Hn? Ah… No.”
She forgot about it too, but she stops just as she’s about to pick them up.
She grins, and stays that way.
“No, I told you I’m fine like this.”
“I’m not!”
I grab her shoulders to move her out of the way, and get up.
If I stay here, she’s just going to mess with me again!
“Ah.”
I look outside, and think that if we’re following the usual Wil pattern, this is where I’ll see someone like Reina.
But from the looks of things, no one has noticed us.
“What? Hn? Hn?”
All of a sudden, she’s wearing clothes again, and she’s grinning like she knows exactly what’s on my mind.
She really has me all figured out.
“…Give me a break.”
“Hahaha, just looking at you being so funny is enough to leave me satisfied.”
Come to think of it, we stopped in the middle of that conversation. But before that…
“Thank you. You were worried about me, right?”
“Hn? Well… I wouldn’t want people who present me with such delicious meals to be gone.”
She looks a little embarrassed about me thanking her sincerely.
I’d feel better if she always reacted like this, but she needs to mess with people to live, so she can’t help it.
“What’s that face? I’ll remind you that I made a deal with Reina. If you’re going to look down on me like that, I have some ideas.”
“No, give me a break.”
“No way. I have been preparing some things with Edinburgh, and it’s coming along nicely. Fufufu, look forward to it!”
That serious Edinburgh. She mostly listens to Wil, so I hope she’s not getting roped into anything weird…
After all, Wil always messes with me and Reina anyway, but this time, she went out of her way to make a deal.
I can’t help but be worried.
But then, her face turns serious all of a sudden.
“Anyway, I need to tell you some more about your body.”
“…Please do.”
My body… She said it was made up of this island and Yggdrasil, among other things…
“That body made up of this island can withstand virtually any attack. I’ve been alive for thousands of years, and I can guarantee it. After all, this island was brought about to seal a god killing demon king.”
Yes, this island was made to lock Wil, so suffice to say, she can’t destroy it and run.
It also doesn’t budge even if demon gods or ancient dragons run wild, and the portions that were destroyed when I fought them were back to normal soon after.
I’m guessing if they really wanted to destroy it, all the strongest races of this island would have to come together and start wrecking it.
“I’ve always thought it was tough, but thinking about it that way, it really does look like my body can’t be broken.”
“But it’s not an absolute. You just saw an example. No matter how tough, there’s always the possibility of something emerging that could be a weakness.”
“…I see.”
Something like Nidhogg, that was made specifically to destroy Yggdrasil and bring about the end of the world, might be my mortal enemy.
Nidhogg leapt into action because Ratatoskr was bored, but it’s normally quiet until god decides to end the world.
“Well, it was pretty much a coincidence this time, but remember it.”
“Got it. By the way, am I like a personification of this island then?”
“I don’t know about your soul, but I guess you could say that.”
I know people reincarnating as something not human is a whole genre, but does this mean I was reincarnated as an island?
Well, my body is still human, so what should I think of myself as?
“Are you worried about something pointless?”
“I was just thinking if I’m human.”
“After being treated like a monster so much, you still want to be seen as human?”
She asks with an exasperated expression, but yeah, I do.
I’ve always been human, so I can’t just suddenly see myself as something else.
Wil hears me, and starts thinking with a serious expression.
“I don’t know about you being human… But it’s not like there’s no way to prove it.”
“Eh? Really?”
“Yes.”
She has an evil grin on her face, and I’m starting to feel like I asked something bad.
“No hold on. Come to think of it, I’m not actually that curious.”
“All right, I have my deal with Reina too, so I will get it ready right away!”
She says with a smile before putting her hand on the window.
“Wait…”
“Goodbye, Arata. You’re still recovering, so don’t push yourself!”
She ignores my attempts to stop her, and walks towards the banquet.
“What is she going to do to me?”
All I know is that it’s not going to be good, and I sigh.
