Now I know that my body is made up of this island, but that doesn’t change what I have to do.
I wasn’t given a special mission after I reincarnated or anything, so my goal was just to take it easy and enjoy life here.
But then I got to meet all sorts of people, and decided that my goal is to get them all together to have a big banquet.
No one told me to do that, it’s just what I want.
“Well, something like the will of the world is working towards holding that banquet too.”
“Daddy, are you thinking about food again?”
“I’m thinking about everyone smiling.”
It’s early in the morning, and no one’s here to visit yet, so Snow is playing with wood building blocks by herself.
I look at this charming sight while having coffee, and wait for Reina to finish making breakfast. It’s such luxury.
“This is too much happiness.”
Snow sits on my lap when she’s done with her creation, and I pat her head.
She looks ticklish, but she’s happy.
“Daddy, you always look like you’re having fun.”
“It’s because of you and mommy and everyone.”
“Snow’s having fun too! Because of mommy and daddy!”
I’m happy to hear that.
Just thinking about how this adorable Snow will one day enter a rebellious phase and say things like ‘I don’t wanna do laundry with you daddy!’… It might actually kill me if she does.
Who would’ve thought there would come a day when I would think like the average dad.
I grab her arms and pull her away and back, and then she starts doing the same with my finger.
This isn’t really anything, but she’s having fun.
“Everyone… It’s best that everyone’s friends.”
“Friends is best.”
It really is nothing, but this is nice.
“We should all eat together again.”
I say, and Snow stops moving my finger, and looks up.
“Tiltue and Katima too?”
“And lots more. Grandma, grandpa, gramps, the other great spirits, and lots more races too.”
“Miriel and the others too!?”
Snow’s eyes shine when she says that.
Come to think of it, Miss Miriel never got her to call her mommy. She was persistent, but Snow only has one mommy.
“Everyone.”
“Yaaaaay!”
She hops off my lap, and runs outside.
There’s nothing dangerous around here anymore, just a lot of houses, so that’s fine.
“Ah, she went out before eating breakfast… Well, she’ll come back when she’s hungry.”
And as I think that, the doorbell rings. That’s rare.
The door isn’t locked, so people like Elga just come inside, and that doorbell mostly goes unused. I wonder who it could be.
“Arata, can you get that?”
“Yes.”
Reina is busy making breakfast, and when I open the door, I see Brynhildr with an iffy expression.
“Father, I come to you asking for a favor.”
I have her come in and sit down, and Reina brings breakfast.
She always makes too much, because the kids tend to come by around this time, so we have enough for our guest.
Brynhildr says she doesn’t need it, but I know from seeing Katima and Edinburgh that high elves do get hungry.
It must have taken some time to get here from the southern forest, so I think it’s safe to assume she didn’t have breakfast. I tell her again not to hold back and eat.
“Pardon me, mother…”
“Don’t worry. See? Those kids always come by anyway.”
We’re sitting at the table like always, and all of a sudden, kids like Luna and Tiltue are eating here with Snow.
They’re having fun, but our focus is on this girl.
She lets out a sigh as she has bread and soup. Something must be troubling her…
“So what happened?”
“It’s about Miss Miriel and the others.”
Brynhildr then says that Miss Miriel has been sighing a lot lately.
She always dodges the question when she asks, but when she asked Miss Phi, she said that seeing Snow and people of other races getting along made her want to make up with the northern great spirits.
“I see… But they left because she tried to pamper them too much, right?”
“That is what I heard… But they have been away for over a thousand years, so…”
“Yes, there must be something bigger.”
Miss Miriel could just go see them, so there must be a reason why she isn’t doing that.
Hm… The three of us think about that, but there’s no point, because we won’t know anything if we don’t hear from them.
“I guess we have to ask them again.”
“Yes… I’m sorry, but a high elf can’t go to the alfar village…”
“Eh? Any reason why?”
“Well… Not really, but…”
It doesn’t feel like she feels enmity towards Katima, and she respects a new great spirit like Snow.
I get the feeling like the two races don’t really have a problem with each other, and it’s more like they just don’t interact.
If they don’t know each other, they don’t have a reason to be enemies…
I can’t have two races on bad terms with each other, for the sake of my dream, but I don’t want to push them for my own reasons either…
“Arata, how about you go too?”
Asks Reina. That’s an idea.
Brynhildr has probably avoided it because of customs, the mood in the air, and stuff like that.
Miss Miriel actually wants to go see them, so I assume there’s no reason why she can’t go to the alfar village.
“Hum, I have never had any contact with alfar… And I fear meeting the northern great spirits…”
Of course, this isn’t something she can just accept.
I don’t want to force her to go either, but at this rate, we’re getting nowhere.
I don’t like that either, and more importantly, I feel like she wants to see with her own eyes.
“Snow, come here.”
“Hn?”
I call Snow, and she approaches me with tiny steps.
“We’re going to see grandma. Want to come along?”
“Yes!”
Snow’s eyes shine when she learns we’re going to see Miss Sheryl, and she goes to get her backpack.
She comes back with the backpack Reina made, opens it, and starts wondering what to take, like toys.
“Please escort the great spirit Snow.”
Now that she has a reason, I think she can make excuses for herself.
“…Thank you.”
“No no. Well then Reina, we’ll leave after we eat.”
“Yes. Give my best to Miss Sheryl.”
We go see the great spirits from time to time, and I think this week is Mister Guen who’s on guard duty, so he should be around somewhere.
But I don’t think I should tell Brynhildr that. She should see them directly.
“I hope we can use this opportunity to reunite the great spirits.”
“Yes, I hope so.”
