I was reincarnated on an island where the strongest species live, so I will enjoy a peaceful life on this island – Chapter 180 – Marriage announcement

The next day, I go around with Reina and Tiltue to our friends.

“And so, I’m going to marry Reina and Tiltue.”

“““Oooh.”””

I declare in the divine beast people’s village, and everyone that Sakuya gathered here claps.

Most people are saying stuff like finally, and also congratulating us. Only Elga looks dumbfounded.

He’s probably wondering how we got here, after I asked him for advice just the other day.

Not too far from him, Luna looks happy as she talks with Tiltue.

Luna and Elga were very important friends to Reina and I, as we got used to this island.

We’ll have a proper conversation with them later when we have the time.

We leave the divine beast people’s village, and head to a place where the demon gods and ancient dragons are gathered, to repeat what we just said.

◇ ◇ ◇

The next day, we go to see the alfar, and then the great spirits.

Lastly, we go south to see the high elves, and then go home.

We spoke to the seven great mages and the heroes first yesterday, so it seems things can finally settle down.

The four of us go to sleep together at home, and as everything is silent, I suddenly feel a presence I recognize outside the window.

It’s Wil, hovering in the air while looking up at the full moon.

She notices me, and lands with the same amused smile on her face as always.

“Hello lady-killer. You’re looking pretty happy.”

“I guess I should say it’s thanks to you.”

“What is that tone? It’s all thanks to me.”

Well, I guess roughly speaking, she’s right, but her way of doing things was too forceful.

But it really was her who gave me the final push after I hesitated all this time.

“I’m grateful to you.”

“Hn? Ooh, I see I see…”

“You made sure I didn’t die, right?”

The moment I say that, she squints her eyes. That confirms my suspicion.

“When did you notice?”

“When you healed me… Or rather, when you started working more forcefully after that.”

It just wasn’t like her. She said she made that room from the depths of my consciousness, but surely there were a lot of other things to amuse her.

The fact that she went with a room that can’t be exited unless people fool around tells me she wasn’t only going for entertainment. She was being considerate.

“Boredom kills the immortal. That’s your saying.”

“…Hmph. You keep saying you want a peaceful life, but solitary beings like us are surprisingly frail. I’m sure you know that too deep down. Like ah, today is another day like any other…”

She might have a point.

I wished for peaceful days that were the same as the last, and tried to live my life like that…

“I was satisfied with that.”

“Satisfaction is the immortal’s poison. Living beings need hunger. Standalone beings like us need things to protect.”

“And that’s Reina?”

I really feel like denying that. After all, it makes it sound like Reina was brought by god so I could live.

I didn’t choose her as a being to protect, I just want her to always be with me. I can confidently say it wasn’t because of a choice someone else made.

“God doesn’t meddle that much. It could be another human, or that high alfar. It wasn’t fate that led you to pick Reina, it was your will.”

She says with a slightly gentle smile.

“But Tiltue and Snow are no good. They are complete on their own, so they are on the protecting side, not on the protected. If you walked only with them, you would disappear in the not too distant future.”

“…I’m not going to die?”

“As long as you have something to protect on this island. But you’re not special in that regard. Time flows differently on this island compared to the outside. Even Reina and the other humans won’t age or grow…”

Wil stops. She thinks for a moment, puts her hand up to her mouth, and shakes her head.

“The not growing part is a lie. Your arrival made time move on this island. It just depends on whether individuals wish for it or not.”

She’s speaking in abstract terms as always.

I know she does it on purpose, but I wish she would speak a little more clearly.

“Well, enjoy yourself now. That’s all that matters.”

She says before floating up.

And like always, she heads towards the moon and disappears.

“Honestly, this is too much information for me to process…”

What I got from it is that thanks to her, a lot of problems I had were solved.

She called herself a solitary being, but I’m sure that’s why she’s been watching people on this island from afar.

If she didn’t, she probably couldn’t live by herself, since she has nothing to protect like the other races.

“…I’ll have to make sure to protect everyone too.”

I’m a real backbone of a family, something I never got to experience in my precious life.

Am I up for it…

“I’m sure I’ll be fine. I have Reina, Tiltue, Snow, and everyone on this island.”

I go back, to where my precious family is.
