Miss Miriel has a soft expression as she watches the three of them from a little far away.
“They’re nice kids.”
“Yes, they’re all good people.”
After talking about the past, they start having some girl talk.
As I think that a guy like me has no room there, I notice Miss Miriel looking up at me.
“What?
“I think you’re okay now.”
“Hum… Did you notice about my body?”
“Yes, I guess all of us great spirits did.”
My body is made up of Yggdrasil and various things on this island, so it’s sturdy, but… Apparently that caused abnormalities when Nidhogg bit me.
And Wil helped me set that straight.
“Eh… Wilhelmina did…”
“Come to think of it, have you known her for a long time?”
“We were trying to kill each other back when I was still with god, so I believe it’s been about ten thousand years.”
“T-ten thousand…”
She really has been alive for a long time.
Apparently it takes a thousand years for a great spirit to be born, so I knew she was at least seven thousand years old, but I guess she’s on five digits.
That makes me wonder if there are more great spirits besides the seven I know.
“Well, the passage of time is vague on this island, so there’s no point in thinking about it.”
She laughs, seeming really not bothered.
Wil and other people who have been alive for a long time speak like this sometimes. Like how time on this island is now moving, and the passage of time is vague here. They say it their own way, but I can tell they’re saying the same thing.
I don’t know what they really mean, but… I imagine they would tell me if something really bad was happening, so I assume it’s not.
“Come to think of it, how much time has passed since I got here…”
“Hnfufu… Maybe a year, maybe five. Maybe a looot longer.”
She says this with a smirk like she’s teasing me, but it does feel like a lot longer.
But I think it really was a year… Maybe… Really?
I don’t have a calendar, and didn’t keep track of the days either, but that’s not entirely why it feels strange.
Still, it’s not bad.
“I said this before too, but don’t worry about it. You wake up when morning comes, and go to sleep when the sun sets. During the day, you laugh and play, and fight sometimes. But you always make up and laugh.”
That’s life on this island, she says with a smile.
I guess this really is the ideal life I always wanted.
“And when you have kids, tell them to call me mommy…”
“Father, are you being brainwashed?”
“…Ah!?”
“Geez, and it was going so well…”
Edinburgh’s words make me snap out of it, and Miss Miriel looks a little flustered.
“What was that…?”
“Nothing. I’m just telling you how to enjoy life on this island.”
“…”
I stare at her, and she gets pretty awkward.
Well, this body is immune to attacks with bad intentions, so if that worked, it means she didn’t have bad intentions. It’s just how she feels, but…
“If we do have kids, they’re not calling you mommy.”
“Eh!? Why why why!? Snow won’t do it, so make the others do it!”
She says half crying like a child. No one would think she’s a great spirit.
“Ugugu… I’ll have to have a talk with Reina and Tiltue…”
“I don’t think they’ll agree either.”
“Uu, uu, uu… Ceres!”
“Y-yes!?”
I stand my ground, and she switches targets.
“Erie too! You’ll make your kids with Arc call me mommy, right!?”
“W-with Arc…”
“We… Hum… If you say so Miss Miriel…”
Ceres is weak against Miriel, because she serves god.
Erie is daydreaming about something, and looks happy even though her face is bright red.
She’s probably imagining having kids in the future. I do that sometimes too.
“Father, I think we should get going.”
Edinburgh doesn’t forget her goal even as she looks at these two.
Well, I don’t think there’s much point in me staying…
“Yes. Where to next?”
“I think we could look for Cara and Seti. They can give us a different perspective on what we just heard.”
“To the southern forest then.”
Apparently Arc is there too, but I wonder how they’re getting on.
As I think about that, we thank the two girls being cornered by Miss Miriel, and leave.

Thanks for the treat.
