I was reincarnated on an island where the strongest species live, so I will enjoy a peaceful life on this island – Chapter 196 – Yggdrasil bed

We came to Yggdrasil to make Snow happy, because her mood has been sour without Reina.

As a result, eating the nectar improved her mood, and her magic energy is stronger than usual.

Miss Miriel says her magic energy is more stable like this, so maybe we should stay here for a while.

“Let us end it here for today.”

Says Brynhildr, and we nod and sit down.

I feel like it would take us two days to walk to the top. It would be a lot faster if I flew, but then Snow would be angry, so we’re taking our time.

Most of the elves have already gone back down, it’s only Brynhildr left.

There’s a route that makes it easier to climb Yggdrasil, so she’s acting as our guide.

“I think we could rest here. That said, I was not expecting people…”

“Ah, it’s okay, I have a tent.”

These branches actually have more than enough width to pitch a tent.

Snow is playing tag with Tiltue, so this is a good opportunity to do it.

“We’re all sleeping together, but what about you, Brynhildr?”

“I will be here.”

She says while pointing to a hole that seems just big enough to fit one person.

I feel bad making her sleep outside when we’re in a tent… But then she smiles awkwardly.

“Elves feel at peace among nature. Do you remember the last time you were here?”

“Hum… You were using stuff like big flowers as beds.”

“Yes. We have no concept of houses as humans do, and we always live like this, so please don’t worry.”

She gets on all fours, and goes into the hole.

…If that’s natural for them, I have to respect it.

“…Hm. I will try that too.”

“Eh? We have plenty of room in the tent.”

“Apparently I was an elf before I became mother’s kin. Maybe it will help me regain my memories.”

“In that case…”

“…!?”

The moment Edinburgh says that, Brynhildr peeks out from the hole.

“Father, please excuse my current state.”

“No, it’s fine…”

She’s a high elf, so she’s really beautiful, but the fact that only her upper body is out of the hole makes this look surreal.

She slips out in much the same way she went in, and gets up.

“There is a nice place over there, so let me guide you.”

“There are nice places in a hole?”

“Of course, that will depend on your preference, but I can vouch for its comfort.”

Preference… I’ll just stay quiet.

I’m a little curious, so I go with them, and see a hole that’s large enough for one person.

Brynhildr goes in, and Edinburgh goes after her.

I feel like they’re talking in there. I think it’d be bad if I went after them.

They probably wouldn’t mind, but I’d feel awkward going into a hole with two girls.

And as I think that, Edinburgh’s upper body pops out from the hole.

“…Is it comfortable?”

“It’s surprisingly not bad. I can relax in here.”

“I see…”

That does leave me a little curious.

After they get out, I go in.

“The entrance is narrow, but there is a cave inside.”

And it’s deeper than I thought.

It goes without saying that there are no lights inside the tree, and since moonlight doesn’t get in either, it’s completely dark.

I reach out, and see that the ceiling is low enough that I can just barely touch it.

I then use magic to light up the place, and see the full room.

It’s about four meters in length and a little less in width, making it a little bigger than the six tatami room where I used to live.

I don’t see any bugs or other living beings.

When I lie down, it completely betrays my expectations that it would be hard, and instead feels nice and soft like an expensive bed.

More importantly, I get a feeling of safety comparable to a mother’s embrace.

“It really is comfortable…”

I feel like if I closed my eyes, I would easily sleep until morning.

“No, I can’t actually fall asleep!”

I need to pitch the tent, but when I’m about to go out, Edinburgh comes in, with Tiltue and Snow behind her.

“Ooh…”

Snow looks around, and suddenly dives on the ground.

She starts flapping her arms and legs, and then she suddenly stops and falls asleep.

“What was that just now?”

“Maybe it just felt nice to be wrapped up in Yggdrasil.”

Says Tiltue while gently patting her head.

“We might as well sleep here tonight.”

“Are you okay with it, Tiltue?”

“Hn? Well, it won’t be as good as my bed, but the rocky mountain where I lived was tougher.”

But she still wants a sheet, so I take it out of my Storage Magic.

She covers herself and Snow with it, and falls asleep.

“Sorry, this was supposed to be where you slept, Edinburgh…”

“No problem. I am also only borrowing it, so sleep with your family.”

She says while looking at the other too with a gentle smile, and leaves.

“She really is nice…”

Everyone says she was a tyrant before she lost her memories, and they’re probably right. But if that was her true nature, she should be even rougher without her memories.

“If that’s not the case… Something must have happened to her.”

Although I’m also aware that that’s wishful thinking.

Regardless, I know what she has done is not normally the kind of stuff that can be forgiven, but I still want to believe in the person I met on this island.
