I was reincarnated on an island where the strongest species live, so I will enjoy a peaceful life on this island – Chapter 200 – Orobas

After a bit, Edinburgh’s eyesight recovers, and we keep walking.

I’m also now prohibited from using magic. We can’t have a situation where I’m surprised and the same thing happens again.

“Let’s just follow the wind for the time being.”

“Very well.”

It’s easy to know where the wind is going with keen senses.

I’m walking in front of Edinburgh, as we explore the cave.

I don’t have much experience walking in caves, but contrary to my expectations of tripping and stuff like that, we advance pretty smoothly.

Normally, monsters would attack, but…

“They’re running away super fast.”

“Monsters on this island are intelligent enough to understand your power.”

The ones around my house already know, so I’m used to monsters not getting near me. I just didn’t think it would happen in a cave I’ve never visited.

I can tell where monsters are by sharpening my senses, but it really makes me feel like a vicious beast, when I can feel them running away in real time.

Well, to them, that’s exactly what I am.

“Let’s head to where there aren’t any monsters.”

“But they’ll just run away from us anyway.”

“That’s not the point. Monsters of this island are smart, so they should know we are headed further down.”

“Ah…”

So basically, there won’t be any monsters along the path we want to take.

We do as she says, and quickly find the path down.

“Why stairs?”

“Who knows?”

Seeing something man-made all of a sudden confuses me.

I guess dungeons have this sort of thing…

“But it makes it easier to continue.”

Let’s not think about it too much. Regardless of who made this, what we have to do doesn’t change.

We keep following a path with no monsters, and reach another staircase.

This repeats a few times, and before we know it, we’re on the fifth floor.

It’s still a cave, but the air is strangely chilly.

“So the cave looks the same, but the air isn’t…”

“Something is on this floor…”

Edinburgh looks nervous.

I see what the monsters are doing again, and I can sense one presence dead ahead.

Wait, is this…

“Is it like the boss of the dungeon?”

Now it’s really feeling like a game.

We head straight ahead, and come across a big metal door.

“Let’s go in.”

The door creaks as we open it, and for some reason, candles burn with a blue light.

Beyond this light there is an armored knight covered with black magic energy, holding a sword pointed at the ground.

The knight grabs that sword tighter, and flies our way like a bullet.

“Ooh!?”

I reflexively punch it, and it flies into a wall.

“That scared me…”

“I think you scared the knight more.”

It’s buried in the wall with its limbs all twisted, and doesn’t move.

I guess it’s beaten, but if it really was a boss, it probably expected a more heated fight.

I feel kind of bad.

“A-anyway, the boss is down…”

Come to think of it, Miss Miriel said Orobas was on the fifth floor…

“Hn?”

A large black magic circle appears in the center of the room. It has a gigantic amount of magic energy, and it spreads all the way to us.

“Oryah!”

“…Orobas!?”

I stomp on the magic circle, and hear a weird yell as something dark jumps from the ground.

“Ooooooooooon!?”

“…What is that?”

“A horse?”

What I think is a black horse is rolling on the ground in pain, like a fish out of water.

I say horse, but that’s a pretty humanoid body…

The horse person that seems to have gotten hurt after I stepped on the magic circle then turns to me.

With a face that… Really is a horse’s.

“I’m no horse! I am Orobas!”

“He speaks fluently despite his appearance.”

“Well, that is normal on this island…”

The demon calling himself Orobas gets up and walks towards us.

But the way he’s walking… It does seem strange because of his horse head.

I didn’t feel anything strange about fantastical beings on the level of the great spirits, but…

Every being I’ve met on this island, be it divine beast people or demon gods, all look pretty human. Conversely, Orobas here looks like a real horse…

“I am no horse! I am Orobas! How many times must I say it!?”

“Ah, sorry… Wait, did I say that out loud?”

“Orobas is a great demon, and can hear the truth behind the voice.”

So he can read minds?

“No no, it means I know all.”

“Oh…”

That’s impressive. And yet, his appearance is so fantastical.

“Mufufu, indeed indeed.”

He’s baring his white teeth and breathing heavily, but seems happy.

“So you know everything? And you are a demon? Then could you not beat a god?”

“Ah, that’s right…”

Everyone on this island was locked here by god…

“Demons are not bound to land. If a human desires the power of a demon, I can be summoned out of this island.”

“Eh, so you can leave?”

“If one desires a contract with a demon! So forget about beating or losing to a god, forgetful lady.”

If he’s calling her that, it must mean he knows what brought us here.
