After a while, Grr and Krr return tired, and curl up and fall asleep on Elga’s lap.
“Ah, these two…”
“Hahaha…”
They’re still kids.
They look so cute all pampered with their eyes closed, that no one would have the heart to wake them up.
“Ahh… Fine…”
It goes without saying that someone as caring as Elga isn’t going to take them off him.
I think this whole thing is charming, as we continue talking.
“By the way, how many races live on this island?”
“Ah? Didn’t we already talk about that?”
“We did, but apparently there are a lot I didn’t know about back then.”
I knew about divine beast people, demon gods, ancient dragons, and the true ancestral vampire, right?
High elves and great spirits came up, but not alfar…
Actually, there’s a lot that’s different from what Elga told me back then.
“Well yeah, we only started talking to them after you got here.”
“Ah, really?”
“Yes, with some exceptions. I just told you what I heard from the old bag and other old people in the village.”
I guess it makes sense that there were contradictions.
Especially since people on this island talk about years in the hundreds like it’s no big deal, and their sense of time is weird.
“How long have you been alive, Elga?”
“Ah? Hn… I dunno. Over a hundred years, but I don’t think it’s been over a thousand…”
“I see…”
He’s counting with his fingers, but he definitely doesn’t have enough of them.
He gives up counting, and raises his head like he’s remembering something.
“Ah, other races right?”
“Yes. I met demons recently, so I was wondering what others are there.”
“Demons… I knew they existed, but I’ve never seen one.”
“I’ll introduce you next time.”
Elga starts thinking about what else is out there.
Apparently demons can’t leave that dungeon, so you can’t meet them if you don’t go there.
Maybe I’d get a more definitive answer from Wil or the great spirits.
“I think you know most of them but… I heard there are angels.”
“Angels? You’re not talking about Miss Miriel, right?”
“No, she’s a great spirit. I heard of them, but I’ve never seen them…”
He says, looking pensive again.
“By the way, have you been to the submarine temple?”
“Tell me more about this place with a really cool name.”
I really bite.
Come on Elga, you should’ve told me about such an interesting sounding place sooner. But rather than say this, I wait for him to continue.
“We divine beast people don’t all live in the village. Our old lady put that together, but there’s a divine beast people’s village in the sea.”
“Eh… But can you get in?”
I mean, it’s underwater. There’s the oxygen issue too, but if they don’t come to the surface, I assume they’re territorial.
“You gotta do something about the breathing yourself, but… I don’t think they’re gonna complain if you go with Livia.”
He says she’s the daughter of the boss over there like it’s no big deal.
I see. She does come off like a graceful princess.
“But… Breathing…”
I might be able to get by without breathing, but I want to take Reina and the others too.
“I’ve never been to that submarine temple.”
“Really?”
“I can’t breathe there. I met Livia because she came out to the surface.”
And then they got together.
The girls probably knew about this already, because they talk about love all the time.
So how do I go to the submarine temple…
“Beings that live above ground can’t normally live underwater… How ’bout you ask Merlin? She’s good with water magic.”
“Yes, I’ll give it a shot.”
Submarine temple… I wonder what it’s like.
There’s more man-made stuff on this island than one would expect, like the demon gods’ village that’s pretty developed.
I imagine a hole in a rugged rocky area on the seafloor, like they’re living freely, but maybe it’s a beautiful place like the palace of the dragon king.
In any case, I can’t wait to see it.
“I’m sure Livia would be happy to take you there.”
“I need to bring a gift too.”
I say, but Elga says it’s obviously going to be Reina’s food and laughs.
“Krr…”
“Grr…”
Looks like their nap is over.
They still look sleepy, but they get off Elga, determined to continue their training.
“That’s it for now, I gotta look after these guys.”
“I should go home. If you want to have lunch, I’ll talk to Reina.”
“Thanks then. I’ll be there when the sun’s at its highest.”
He says before I go.
I want to see the submarine temple with my own eyes, so I purposefully refrained from asking too much.
“I can’t wait.”
An unknown place. Unknown people.
I return home with swelling expectations.
We’ve caught up with the raws, so chapters will be released as the raws come out.
Thanks for the treat.
