I was reincarnated on an island where the strongest species live, so I will enjoy a peaceful life on this island – Chapter 241 – Squid and cheers

“Hey Arata… There’s a lot I want to say, but let me say something first.”

“What?”

“You’re the first human to ever summon me to eat ikayaki!”

“Kufufu, idiot! We have an idiot! And the emotions of the great demon summoned by the idiot are the tastiest thing I’ve had!”

The moment Mister Asmodeus yells, Wil bursts out laughing behind me.

Apparently she’s very happy with their emotions she’s eating.

Come to think of it, do demons eat stuff like ikayaki?

“Orobas has never had it, but Orobas typically eats anything! A true omnivore!”

“Thanks for responding to the question in my mind.”

“No problem!”

I guess it’s fine.

I take some squid that’s roasted just right, and hand it to Mister Asmodeus.

“Here you go. And these are soy sauce and mayonnaise made by Reina. They’re really tasty.”

I guess he stopped questioning it, because Mister Asmodeus takes the squid.

He slowly takes it to his mouth.

“…It’s good.”

“Everything Reina cooks is good!”

Hearing something my fiancee made be praised makes me happy.

“Arata! Orobas too!”

As I hand one to Orobas, I wonder if he can hold it.

But somehow, the skewer sticks to his hoof.

He shows his white teeth with a big smile.

“Smirk.”

“Why did you vocalize that?”

“To show an easy to understand reaction!”

“I see.”

I guess there’s no problem, so I also hand him a plate with soy sauce and mayonnaise.

He skillfully puts it on the squid, tastes it, and…

“Tastyyyyy!”

“You just wanted to say that, didn’t you?”

“No! Orobas is not a horse, so Orobas did not want to say it! Did not! It was a reflex!”

He then faces up and yells again.

Everyone’s sleeping pretty far away, but they might hear that.

“It reminds me of Luna and Elga the first time they had Reina’s food.”

They also yelled like that.

Reina’s cooking really is the strongest, to captivate all the strongest races like that.

And looking at Orobas makes me want to eat too.

“Hey Arata, roast some for me too.”

“Yes yes.”

“More for me as well.”

“Orobas is no horse… No…!”

Leaving aside Orobas’ identity crisis, I start roasting for Mister Asmodeus and Wil.

I roast more for myself too, and take alcohol out of the Storage Magic.

“You still had more? Gimme that.”

“No, you took it without asking before.”

“It was payment!”

Fine, I’ll pour into her cup.

Mine and Mister Asmodeus’ go into bigger cups.

They don’t look too great, but ignore that.

“Well then, let’s toast to the two of you getting out.”

“Cheers!”

Only Orobas does it, but it’s fine.

◇ ◇ ◇

The great demons Mister Asmodeus and Orobas. And the true ancestral vampire Wil.

As we chat and eat squid, something crosses my mind.

“Have you met them before, Wil?”

“No, it’s the first time. I have killed great demons though.”

A sudden explosive statement.

I reflexively turn to Mister Asmodeus, and he’s eating like it doesn’t really bother him.

“Didn’t you kill Beelzebub? There was a big stir among demons back then.”

“He was summoned to kill me, so it was self-defense. A big city was sacrificed to summon him, and I took the blame for that. I’m the victim.”

“Kakaka! That’s pretty bad!”

“If Orobas was there, Orobas could’ve testified for your innocence!”

“I don’t think humans would take to a demon’s testimony.”

The topic at hand sounds terrible, but they’re getting along nicely and the conversation flows smoothly.

I feel like Wil is having more fun than when she talks with other races. I guess they’re all beings that transcend humans and live for a long time.

Also, Wil eats emotions and demons eat desires. Their views of humans are also close, so I guess they have a lot in common.

Will coming here was a coincidence, but…

Looking at her having fun drinking makes it worth it summoning the great demons.

Although she was the one who actually summoned them.

“Ah… We’re out of squid.”

Then suddenly the great demons disappear.

It was like they were never here.

“Eh? Why?”

“Because you made a weird wish.”

I want to eat ikayaki together.

The wish was granted. We had ikayaki together, and they left.

I guess I was expecting an actual goodbye…? But I guess my wish really was weird.

“Anyway, now you can summon them when you want.”

“Ah, that’s right. That was the goal all along.”

“It wasn’t to eat squid.”

But I guess that’s all we did.

“Is there anything I need to watch out for when I summon them?”

“Like I said before, you need magic energy, a catalyst, and human desires. Normally, to summon a demon of that level, you need to sacrifice a lot of mages…”

She stares at me, and then laughs like she’s making fun of me.

“You’re enough on your own. You can serve as the catalyst too. And desires. You’re the complete idiot package.”

“Do you have to call me an idiot…?”

“You’re not normal. But I guess I’d warn you that they’re diligent towards wishes, so don’t leave room for misinterpretation.”

According to Wil, those two wouldn’t do that, but normally demons tend to interpret things in a way that’s most convenient to them.

As a result, they might run in a completely different direction than the summoner intended, and cause damage.

“Like before, when I said I wanted to eat squid…”

“Depending on the demon, it could’ve been interpreted as summoning all the squid in the country into that location, destroying the country.”

She says with an evil smile.

The idea of a country being destroyed via squid sounds pretty surreal, but it’d be pretty scary if it happened…

“Well then, I’ll be going as well.”

“Thank you. Wait.”

“What?”

“Why did you come here in the first place?”

She was already nearby when I said I wanted to know how to summon demons. She must’ve wanted something.

“Everyone is asleep, so I was bored. I was fine with whoever was up at this hour, and it turned out you were.”

“Ah, I see… You were lonely.”

“I’m pretty sure I said bored.”

Wil uses water magic to send a whirlpool my way.

Of course, it won’t kill me, but it does drench me.

“Bye. You won’t get sick anyway, but dry yourself before you go.”

She says before disappearing into the darkness.

I stand still in front of the fire to dry myself, and think about what I just saw.

Great demons and a true ancestral vampire.

They all feel like the last boss of a story, but here they were, having fun eating squid…

“I feel like I saw something nice.”

I feel happy, and enjoy the rest of the alcohol by myself.
