Reina’s storage magic is more useful than I thought.
Its capacity depends on the user’s magic energy, meaning someone who is among the best in the continent like Reina can fit a relatively big house in there.
She can carry by herself more than a merchant caravan of a few wagons.
It’s so useful in fact, that I find myself wishing I could use it too, and then the space in front of me starts shaking in an unnatural way.
“…Oh?”
“I’ll cook with the ingredients I have today, so you can take it easy, Arata.”
Reina’s back is turned, so she can’t see it, but is this actually storage magic?
I feel like when Reina pulled ingredients from the air before, she put her hand into a shaking space like this, that’s like a mirage.
I reach out to it slowly, and my finger is swallowed by this space.
I don’t feel any resistance or anything, I just feel the space expanding. It’s a strange feeling, but somehow, I’m convinced this is storage magic.
Is this that ‘ability to copy skills and magic just by seeing them’?
“Hey, what are you doing over there?”
“…!?”
I’m surprised when Reina turns around, immediately pull my finger out, and the space I think is storage magic disperses, leaving the space in front of me looking like it did before.
“What are you doing?”
“N-nothing.”
Reina’s holding a small pot with both hands, and she has a puzzled expression on her face, but I somehow get the feeling she would be mad if she saw that, so I try to hide it.
Even I’m exasperated by how I feel like a kid trying to hide a test with a bad score.
But more important than that guilt, is the red soup in front of me.
“O-ooh! It looks great!”
“It doesn’t look great, it is great. I’ll set the table, so hold this.”
I see it has a lot of vegetables, and judging by the smell, it’s either tomato soup or something along those lines.
I reincarnated into this world this morning, and it’s almost dusk.
Apparently even this body given to me by god isn’t immune to hunger, and my stomach makes a loud noise.
“Fufu… You’re like a kid, Arata.”
Reina holds up her hand a little and laughs. Did she think it was that funny? Then the ground wells up, creating some tidy chairs and a table.
Reina takes out tableware from her storage magic, and our outdoor meal is ready to be enjoyed.
“Well, that about does it.”
“Ohh…”
I place the pot on the table, and applaud.
Reina comes across like a lady from a rich family, but she apparently has the title of one of the seven great mages, and is an S ranked adventurer, so she’s probably used to eating outside like this.
She keeps working briskly, and even puts bread on the table. It’s starting to feel like if we weren’t outside, this would look like a high class meal.
“Well then, the bread is on the table too, so let’s eat.”
“Yes.”
“Yes!”
““…””
I’m about to start my dinner, but I stop, and so does Reina.
All of a sudden, there’s a small girl sitting where I was supposed to be seating, already soaking bread in the soup.
Is she a beast person?
Her golden animal ears are twitching, and what looks like a fox tail is growing from her backside. If this wasn’t a different world, I’d just assume she was a kid cosplaying.
She takes a bite out the bread, and her ears and tail point straight at the sky and stay frozen in that position.
“S-o g-o-o-d! Miss, this is good!”
““…””
What do we even say to this girl that keeps wolfing down bread with a happy expression on her face?
“Reina? What’s wrong?”
“…! I-I’m fine. Yes, fine…”
“You don’t look fine at all.”
Her eyes are on the small fox girl that’s quickly consuming the food Reina prepared. At this rate, there’s not going to be enough left for us.
I don’t know what this girl is exactly, but I need to stop her, so I grab her by the back of the neck and lift her.
“Kyuu.”
“You can’t just hop in and eat other people’s food, right?”
The girl hangs in the air as she looks at me with a confused look on her face, and red soup around her mouth.
“A-Arata! It’s all right! It’s all right, let her eat anything she wants!”
“No, Reina. She looks like she’s still a kid, but that’s exactly why we need to teach her…”
The girl starts licking around her mouth, and I can feel she wants to not let a single drop of soup get away. That in itself isn’t a bad thing, but that combined with her ears and tail just remind me of an animal.
Unlike the wolves that attacked us earlier, she has beautiful golden hair in a ponytail, and her big round eyes are jade like jewels.
Reina gives me the feeling that this a western style fantasy world, but this girl’s clothes are like a shrine maiden’s.
The girl herself has not a drop of sanctity to her, but she’s well dressed, and the clothes suit her well, strangely enough.
She looks about as old as a middle schooler, but other than her appearance, she feels younger than that. She’s hanging in the air, as I’m still holding her, but it looks like she’s having fun.
“Kyah.”
“A-Arata! Hurry up and put her down!”
Reina looks flustered, but the girl just laughs.
“You. Name?”
“Me? I’m Luna!”
“I see. Then Luna, we were about to eat, but you ate my…”
“Ah…”
It looks like the girl named Luna is finally realizing what she did, as her expression is a little clouded.
Apparently she understands that what she did was wrong, and regrets it.
I put her down, and she looks up at me with worry in her eyes.
“You can’t just eat other people’s food, right?”
“Uuu… Sorry.”
“Yes, it’s good to just apologize.”
“Uwawa.”
She apologized, so I pat her head, and ruffle her hair a little. Luna looks a little flustered, but it doesn’t look like she doesn’t like it.
Her fox ears that point up are softer than I expected, and feel strange. I’ve never had a lot of contact with animals, but I’m thinking this is what it would be like if I had a dog.
“Reina?”
“W-what is it?”
“Do you still have a lot of food?”
I ask Reina, who is looking at me with a strange, and kind of tense expression, and she nods.
“The exploration of the Faraway Island was expected to last over half a year, so I came prepared for that.”
“I see, then we’ll be all right for a while. Sorry, but can you make food for her too?”
“Yes, of course.”
Reina doesn’t hesitate, and starts cooking again a bit far from us.
“Are you sure, mister?”
“Yes, Reina said she doesn’t mind.”
“Wah! Thanks Miss Reina.”
Says Luna as she looks at us with a happy smile as bright as the sun. The atmosphere feels nice and soft now, but we can’t just let things stay like this.
Just like I saw before, Reina doesn’t seem to have a problem sharing her good. I’m very thankful for that, but at this rate I’m just going to sponge off her.
“At this rate, I’m going to be like a kept man.”
“Mister, what’s a kept man?”
“…My name is Arata.”
I was sent to this island because I want a quiet life, but sponging off a beautiful girl was never part of the plan.
God told me this island has everything I need to live on my own. Basically, this should be an environment where I can be self-sufficient.
I don’t know how long it will be until I can get that life set up, but I need to be less of a burden to her as soon as possible.
And then a question pops up in my mind. If this island is ‘a place with no humans’, how come Luna is here?
Unlike Reina, who ended up here after a shipwreck, Luna is clearly a native of this island. If what god told me is right, she shouldn’t be here.
I look at Luna, who is sitting on a chair while dangling her legs and watching Reina while she cooks.
“I can’t wait for Miss Reina’s food.”
“Hey Luna. Can I ask you something?”
“Hn? What?”
“Does anyone else live on this island?”
I ask, and a big smile forms on her face.
“Yes! We divine beasts, demon gods, ancient dragons, true ancestral vampires, and lots more races!”
“…I see…”
The absence of the word human tells me everything I need to know. And I’m sure god is responsible for the strong intensity of all the names she just said.
“God, was this an accident, or on purpose?”
In any case, I now understand that humans don’t live here, but instead there are incredible beings on this island.

There are no humans, but every other race exists on the island. I see no problem here!
Wow, that island has a lot of strong races, except humans.
Thanks.
