Yesterday, I learned once again just how terrifying the dungeon can be.
He escaped with his life, but his dear buddy was targeted and taken from him.
Thinking back, I guess it’s his own fault, and I should be laughing and thinking he got what he deserved, but when I heard about it the shock took my breath away.
I need to watch for my crotch.
With a reminder of what I should protect in mind, I decide to buy a strong protection.

I get off at the station, and pass by the ticket gate to head to the shopping mall, and find Chisato sitting on a bench on the station platform fiddling with her phone.
It looks like she’s waiting for someone, so I don’t feel like it’s a good idea to call out to her. And she hasn’t seen me, so I walk past her.
And then she grabs my arm and asks if I’m ignoring her.
No, you’re waiting for someone, right?
What was I supposed to do? Won’t your boyfriend or your friend get here soon?
Ah, friend. See you.
What? Eh… You want me to hang out to kill time because your friend is an hour late?
You think I have all the time in the world? I’m on an important mission to buy protection for something very dear.
Hn? You’ll buy me lunch?
…Okay then.

After trusting her offer, we head not to an expensive place like I imagined, but to a fast food place near the park.
We went to the highest floor of a hotel that one time, so I was thinking maybe we’d go there again, but no.
Also, since it’s lunchtime, this place is pretty busy. All the seats are full, so we head with the food to the nearby park.
I haven’t had a hamburger in a month, and it’s nice. It feels like junk food, but my hands won’t stop.
Chisato is sitting next to me on the bench, and we eat silently while looking at the park.
I finish it by slurping the cola, put the empty cup in the paper bag, and let out a big breath.
I look at Chisato, who’s eating potato chips while watching kids play with a ball. She’s less than halfway through hers.
She notices me looking at her, and looks at me like she’s asking what I want.
I was just thinking that you really like kids, and that’s why you want to be a childcare worker.
Yeah, of course.
Well, kids are cute. I always end up being soft with my nephew and niece, so I get it.
Yes, that’s right, I can’t even hate them when they get all cheeky and punch me.
Haha, I’m worried what I’ll do if they keep getting bigger like that.
Hm, it reminds me of when I was in kindergarten.
Do you look up to childcare workers? No, I’m not making fun of you or anything. I think it’s great. You’re trying to make a dream you had since you were a kid come true, right? I think that’s pretty tough. Most people either forget or just never reach them.
Ah!
A preschooler girl is running.
The ball then flies in an arc our way. On a collision course towards the girl.
Chisato is surprised and screams.
I immediately use Physical Strengthening and pass by the girl to catch the football.
The girl is surprised because I passed by her, trips and falls, and starts crying.
I messed up, I think as I throw the ball back to the kids.
I look at the girl, and see her knee is bleeding.
Chisato rushes towards her, asks if she’s all right, and takes the girl to the watering hole to clean the wound.
I stop them.
I say it’s just dirty, and sneakily cast Healing Magic. And after slapping the dirt off lightly, both the wound and blood are gone.
Ahh, okay then.
The girl also stops crying, surprised because it doesn’t hurt anymore.
I hear someone calling for Mei from a little far away. The girl calls for her grandma, gets up, and runs towards a woman that’s past middle age.
The woman sees her run, and hurries over here. Apparently she saw everything that happened.
She thanks me for helping the girl and doesn’t seem upset, so I say it’s fine.
Mei also thanks us with a big bow.
I apologize for scaring her, and for passing by her like that. If I went behind her, she wouldn’t have been startled and fallen.
We watch them leave, and I feel a tap on my shoulder.
I turn to look, and Chisato says nice going, looking happy for some reason.
◇ ◇ ◇
Some time has passed, long enough that Chisato gets a message from her friend that just got to the station, so we say goodbye.
Let’s go get that guard then, I mean, protector.
I get to the shopping mall, and head straight to the weapons store.
I just happen to see the owner, and when I ask for a d*ck guard, he immediately tells me to leave.
Hey! I’m a customer!
I want a d*ck guard. I’m sure you have them! Gimme a guard to protect my d*ck! Gimme a d*ck guard!
Ah? I’m drawing attention?
I look around, and see people both inside and outside the store are looking at me.
Everyone’s looking bothered, and I guess the noise is to blame.
I apologize, lower my volume, and ask for it again. And the owner gets pissed.
“The tone of your voice isn’t the problem! It’s ’cause you keep going on about a d*ck guard!”
Ou, I see!
I guess I should’ve phrased that better. Please let me see d*ck protectors.
A security guard grabs my shoulder and escorts me out.
◇ ◇ ◇
The twenty-first floor.
What was that about? It was just a little misunderstanding.
I guess I shouldn’t have kept saying d*ck, but did they have to detain me for an hour?
Like I did something that warrants saying they’ll call the cops next time.
That weapons shop owner could’ve backed me up too. I’m pretty much a regular. A treasured customer. Couldn’t he have helped me out a bit?
He brought my greatsword of fortitude and magic mirror armor to the guard station, said he was done servicing them, and walked away laughing.
Damn old man, even though I was in trouble.
He left a note saying the armor has a d*ck guard, but why didn’t he say that from the start?
Am I right?
Fugoh!!
I slash the attacking orc with my greatsword of fortitude.
They’re not interested in listening to me today. It’s like they’re different orcs or something.
I’m not done grumbling, but I’ve already taken down a lot of orcs, so I’ll talk to the portacool.
Hey, listen to this one…

I know right? That’s why I live him. He’s just so rude. And he doesn’t even realize.
