With yesterday’s incident, I learned the location of the staircase to the twenty-second floor. They told it to me as an apology for the misunderstanding.
And when I grumbled that it wasn’t enough, they gave me one of those disposable blood extraction magic items.
I thought it was something special… Well, it is, but the guild sells them for fifteen hundred yen.
And when I checked who made them, I saw it was Honto.
They put out some strangely nice products. I was impressed, as I put it away in my Storage Space.
I feel like if I use their stuff, they win.

I head to the weapons store, and ask them to adjust my armor.
It’s not like yesterday’s incident told me I need something to differentiate myself or anything. It’s just that when I asked them to appraise the armor and battleaxe, I figured I should use them.

That time I got a magic mirror armor that was way too good.
It’s not like the tyrant battleaxe is weak, but it falls short when compared to the price of the magic mirror armor.
The design tickles my chunni heart, and it has the abilities to match. I can’t complain.
I don’t mind paying the five million.
My hand trembles as I present the card. Five million. Five million. Five millions.
How many zeroes is that? Six. How much is six?
It’s a lot.
I’ll pay this price full of circles. Didn’t I pay two million before? I sure did. So what’s five million?
What can I do with five million?
Get a kind of nice car.
Go out and have something good to eat and have fun.
I’d lose it anyway if I went to a certain place I shouldn’t two hundred times.
…
I’ll come back later.

The twenty-first floor.
There really are a lot of seekers on this floor.
I heard it was the floor with the most people, and it seems like it.
Seekers are less cautious here, partially because orcs are easy to spot. That’s why I see people from time to time that look all happy, having fun chatting and picking medicinal herbs.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
You should loosen up when you can, instead of being tense for no reason. You can’t be a seeker for a long time if you don’t.
Eventually, your spirit will give out, and it will affect your fighting. That can cost you your life, so loosen up when the time is right.
They do look like they’re enjoying themselves. I see people a hundred meters away from me, having fun with their friends.
…I want partners too.
That suddenly crosses my mind. It’s not like I insist on being alone. If I had partners, I’d definitely want to come here with them.
I’ve only been at it for a month and some change, but I’ve been in a lot of danger.
If I wasn’t alone, we could’ve helped each other.
Nothing is as reassuring as having partners.
◇ ◇ ◇
An orc is looking at me.
I raise my hand and say hey, greeting it with the friendly nature of an old buddy.
The orc goes ‘fugoh’, and passes right by me.
Looks like that guy has also been jostled by the hardships of society.
I can see soot on its back as it leaves.
And then its head suddenly goes flying.
Orc!!??
The seeker who took it down drags its body away.
Is losing a friend this painful?
It’s best to be alone then.
This is awful… Just too awful…
Let’s stop that.
My loneliness is making me do weird things.
Let’s get back to exploring. My goal for today is the staircase to the twenty-second floor.
I keep going, slaughtering orcs along the way, and it looks like what I learned yesterday was correct. And as I’m about to go back after fulfilling today’s objective, I feel eyes on my back.
When I turn around, I see nothing, but the feeling remains.
Something’s watching me.
This is clearly the work of some kind of master, because I can’t feel it clearly, but I think it’s the Spatial Grasp skill that’s making me sharp enough to detect something as unclear as someone’s eyes on me.
I turn in the direction where I feel that from, and hear rusting.
And suddenly, there’s an orc in front of me.
It swings its club down to crush me, but I easily avoid it by stepping back.
The orc then charges at me with an intense speed, and I feel like this one is stronger and faster than the others.
But I match its charge with a swing of my greatsword, and slice its head off. It’s faster, but still not as fast as a kobold, so it’s easy to deal with.
Without its head to issue commands, the orc pitches forward, and loses its life.
This surprised me, but it wasn’t a problem.
It was a little faster than normal orcs, and a little stronger. I guess each individual is different, but I do feel like this was a step above other orcs of this size.
As I look at the corpse, mist flies into the air and disappears.
And I don’t feel like something’s watching me anymore.
