I’m unemployed but I’m exploring the dungeon again today – Chapter 63 – Sixty-first day

I’ve been working on it for a few nights, and the magic circle embroidery for the tent is finally done.

I tried using a machine at first, but I just felt like sewing by hand. That’s why it took so long.

But I feel really happy about it. Making something with my own hands is so much fun.

I throw the tent into my Storage Space, take a nap, and leave the house in the morning.

I’m headed to the weapons store for maintenance. I’ve been wiping the greatsword of fortitude and the tyrant battleaxe at the end of the day, and coating them with oil I bought at that weapons store, but I’m having them checked just in case before tomorrow’s dive.

“The durability value went down. Leave them here for three days.”

The owner is exasperated. And he calls me an idiot and complains about me not bringing them here sooner.

Wait! That’s not good! I’m going to be sleeping in the dungeon starting tomorrow!

Don’t complain at you if they break? That’s even worse.

Can’t you work something out!? I can just take one!

No good?

Buy something from the store?

…Give me a discount.

And so, I buy the twin swords used by many main characters… Not, I get a greatsword because I’m used to it.

That’s what I end up with after a lot of indecision.

I’ve never even used twin swords, and I can only mimic using a greatsword or battleaxe. I’ve been using them in my own way to a certain extent as I get used to them, but my moves still lag behind the adult goblin and the warrior kobold.

I have no techniques of my own, and I just push through with mimicry and skills.

If I get a whole new weapon in this state, I’m gonna get the rug pulled from under me.

Ah, give me the twin swords too just in case.

Yes, by card.

No, I don’t think I’ll look cool or anything.

It’s just decoration.

◇ ◇ ◇

I head to the guild with twin swords hanging from my waist.

I make them clatter as I walk to smugly show them off, but no one looks at me.

Actually, the moment I get through the entrance there’s a crowd in front of me, and I can’t pass. I don’t have any business with the reception desk, but at least open a path to the store.

There are flashes going off in the center of the crowd and I can hear someone’s voice. It looks like it’s either some bigshot or a performer.

That doesn’t concern me, so I push my way to the store. Someone I push out of the way looks at me really bothered, but you’re the one bothering.

That’s what I want to say, but it’s a woman, so I just bow and keep going.

It’s not good if it’s a woman, I might end up getting arrested.

◇ ◇ ◇

When I reach the store, I find out the reason for the crowd.

A movie using the dungeon as a subject is being shot, and that’s ending today. The actors and actresses are greeting people.

There’s actually a poster with that information. The movie is about a panic caused by monsters flooding out of the dungeon, with the main character struggling to survive with his friends.

Hm, I feel like I’ve heard that before. I try to remember, but all that gives me is a headache.

I’m sure it’s no big deal anyway.

I forget about it, stock up on potions, and head to the dungeon.

◇ ◇ ◇

The twenty-first floor.

I’m hunting orcs to test the new weapons.

I unsheathe the twin swords, and swing rapidly to take out an orc.

Its club catches my body with a sweep and I’m flung away.

Gaha!? Now you’ve done it!

I get all worked up like I found a worthy opponent. I cast Healing Magic on myself, and swing again.

This works well because of Parallel Thinking.

Fuh! Ah! Uryah! Toorya!!

All I hit is air.

The orc steps back every time I swing, easily evading me. It’s like it can see through all my attacks.

It swings its club down hard, and I dodge by taking half a step back, before transitioning into a thrust with the sword in my right hand.

I’m not using both hands like usual, so I can’t put all my power into it, but I still cause a shallow cut in its stomach.

Then it sweeps with its club and blows me away again.

Guh!? Gaha! Wow! This one’s strong.

Can I beat this orc?

I’m starting to get worried, so I put away the twin swords, take out the greatsword, and kill it instantly.

…Let’s go with the greatsword.

It really is the weapon for me.
