I’m unemployed but I’m exploring the dungeon again today – Chapter 33 – Thirty-first day

I wake up in the morning, and see that Ai called me again. What does she want now? I’m pretty sure everything was solved the last time I saw her.

I take the smartphone, wondering what it could be about, and block her number.

Well then, I explored the dungeon yesterday and the day before that, and I can say progress is going well.

I was attacked by bandits along the way, but I got home safe.

I sold everything I got in the dungeon, and since I made more than I spent, I call it a success.

I also got the greatsword of fortitude appraised, since those bandits were after it. Last time I didn’t have money, so they only told me its name, but I had them look into its abilities.

ーーー

Greatsword of fortitude

A magic sword obtained from treasure chests of the thirty-fourth floor.

A sword that is powered and weakened by its user’s spirit. Its durability and attack power vary depending on the user. It is possible to execute a projectile slash by infusing it with magic energy.

Attack power: 32 (Changes)

Durability: 89 (Changes)

Price: Fifteen million

ーーー

Let’s compare it to a regular iron sword for good measure.

ーーー

Iron swordsmanship

A regular iron sword forged in a workshop.

Attack power: 10

Durability: 30

Price: A hundred thousand

ーーー

The greatsword of fortitude is better than I thought.

I learned about its ability, and pay the hundred thousand appraisal fee.

I feel like people would come after it if they knew about its ability, even if they’re not bandits. And considering I have the divine bird boots that are worth even more, I’m starting to get scared to walk outside at night.

Should I hire Secom?

Should I buy a big safe?

Where could I hide it… I have Storage Space.

I don’t have a problem with security. Let’s just put all my valuables in the Storage Space.

It’s not like anyone else can access it.

I put my wallet, bankbook, and ID in it too.

◇ ◇ ◇

The tenth floor.

I came to the dungeon right away to test the greatsword of fortitude’s abilities.

I don’t feel like going in too deep today, so I’m going to practice here on the tenth floor, because I can easily take the portal back.

It doesn’t take long for three goblins to appear.

I infuse the greatsword of fortitude with a little magic energy, and check its flow. I don’t know how much it needs, so I start with the amount I use for earth bullets.

Then I picture a slash flying towards the goblins, and swing my greatsword.

A flash flies out, but disappears before it reaches them.

Hn?

That was about a meter.

I guess that wasn’t enough magic energy, so I’ll infuse even more.

I cut down the goblins coming to attack, and look for more targets.

Next, I find goblins with a paralyzing moth.

As before, the paralyzing moth does a superb job rendering them unable to fight.

I infuse the greatsword with magic again, this time ten times more than the earth bullets, and swing it again.

It flies out, and cuts the paralyzing moth five meters away before vanishing.

…Hm…

Honestly, it’s not really what I expected.

It would’ve been more efficient to just use magic. Both in terms of magic energy and the time it takes to activate.

Maybe this ability is for people that can’t use magic. It’s a greatsword after all, something for a heavy warrior on the front line. I’m sure it wasn’t made for a guy like me who can use magic.

Hm, this ability will be stashed away as long as I’m using this weapon.

That’s enough testing for me, so I leave the dungeon.
