I’m starting the day packing stuff into a cardboard box.
I’m not moving, I’m sending this to my parents. I bought it yesterday, so now I just need to make sure it’s nicely packed.
This and this… Hum, mom asked for this… What about ramen? Let’s include some menma.
There’s still some space… What would fit?
I put my hand inside my Storage Magic, and look for something that’s the right size. Then my hand hits some potion bottles.
Some of them have ant queen honey.
Oh yeah, I put it in empty potion bottles.
I think about it for a bit, and then include a bottle with ant queen honey. I put a piece of paper that says ‘perishables, please eat before they spoil’, and close the box.
Well, it’s nice to share a bit of my fortune.
What a nice son I am.
I’m very happy with what I did, and completely unaware that I will regret it later.
◇ ◇ ◇
I go to the convenience store to ship the box, and head straight to the dungeon from there.
But before I go in, I need to stop by the weapons store to replace the equipment I lost yesterday.
I have plenty of money, so while I don’t feel like I should waste it, I can buy something nicer than what I had.
I try on more expensive defensive equipment, and it feels completely different on my skin.
The breathability is completely different too.
Yes, let’s go with this.
Next, I check out breastplates and shields.
Up until now, I’ve tried to go for something that’s not big enough to get in my way and sturdy enough, so it was pretty heavy.
This time, I get something even sturdier, but lighter.
Maneuverability is good, and it’s easier for me to move with this.
The equipment comes with recommended floors, and this one says it’s appropriate for twentieth to thirtieth.
The whole thing costs me over two million yen.
My hands shake when I take out my card to pay.
Yes I know… In one payment!
It’s so much money, that I’m tempted to pay in installments.
For a lower middle class guy like me, anything over a million is too steep.
◇ ◇ ◇
The fourteenth floor.
Time to check out the divine bird boots I found yesterday.
I hit a rock worm with a front kick, and talons grow from the boots. They dig deep into the rock worm, and tear it to pieces.
When I infuse the divine bird boots with magic energy, I can kick the air with my right foot, and then do it again with my left.
I manage to get close enough to the ceiling to touch it.
The divine bird boots have two abilities. Grow and control talons at will, and kick the air once with each foot.
I can grab pretty hard with the talons, enough to kill monsters. Kicking the air uses magic energy, but changing trajectory in mid-air is a big plus. Not to mention that the cooldown is only one minute.
By the way, it cost me a hundred thousand yen to look into these abilities at the purchasing counter.
It might seem like a lot, but the divine bird boots are worth twenty million, so it’s not that much in comparison.
◇ ◇ ◇
I keep playing with the divine bird boots as I advance through the dungeon.
I keep grabbing monsters with the talons and disposing of them like that. But the feeling I get afterwards is awful, so I instead grab them and throw them.
And as I go around doing this, I eventually find the staircase to the fifteenth floor.
◇ ◇ ◇
The fifteenth floor.
I still have time, so I’m going to look around a bit before I go home.
There aren’t any new monsters on this floor. It’s just goblins, big ants, rock worms, rock wolves, and poison slimes, but more than before.
Generally speaking, they appear in groups of five to ten, and the encounter rate is high, so this floor tends to force people into consecutive fights.
I use Physical Strengthening, and monsters come at me.
I give my greatsword a big swing, and take down monsters a little far away with rock bullets and thorns.
I kick a wall, kick the air, and come down on a rock wolf to skewer it.
They keep coming, but I slaughter them with a cool head.
I use magic and Physical Strengthening, grab them with my boots to throw them, and keep taking down monsters.
As I do this, I see other seekers. It’s the harem party.
Ah, hello.
Bye…
…Can you stop grabbing me?
What do you mean you understand and you’re fine with it? I’m the one being bothered.
Why didn’t I go? I don’t remember making plans.
Look, monsters. I don’t want to get in the way. Bye.
Monsters attack the harem party. The guy and girl in front keep them in check, and they don’t attack the back row.
Magic and arrows fly from the back, wounding the monsters. Once they’ve been weakened, the two in front take them down, leading to an easy victory.
It’s completely different from yesterday.
I don’t think it’s because they work well when they’re all together, they’re all actually stronger.
The reason is that girl in the back that looks like she’s doing nothing.
It looks like she’s just standing there, but she’s linked to the others with magic energy. I’m sure she’s buffing them.
That girl is the linchpin of this party, not the guy.
With that thought in mind, I leave.
