It’s the same level as the Emperor Goblin, but this one’s stats are definitely higher, and its skills are all fit for a warrior. It’s rare for a monster to be a vanguard type with a good balance across the board.
The Shell Knight points its spear this way, and takes position. I’m guessing the Emperor Goblin was a little on the weak side because it commanded an army, but this one is a strong loner type.

Aira unsheathes her daggers and closes in on the Shell Knight.

Aira’s daggers wouldn’t be good against a normal spear wielding enemy, but this monster has a trident. She can avoid attacks by slipping in the gaps.
You really have to be a seasoned adventurer like Aira to pull off those acrobatics. I can’t say I’d be able to do that.
“It’s fast, considering it’s wearing that heavy looking armor.”

Ayane and I wait for our moment to attack, while we watch Aira fight. But then, its spear starts gathering water.

Aira yells, and it points its trident at us.
The water is then fired in a straight line at Ayane.

I pull Ayane, and we somehow dodge it. There’s a hole, opened by the water where Ayane was standing.
It’s hard to tell because it’s sand, but it looks like it carved the ground beneath it too.
I think that power might have even gotten through my armor.
That’s a real high pressure jet.
“Are you all right!?”
Yells Aira while crossing blades with the Shell Knight.
“Yes! Fine!”
I screwed up.
This happened so suddenly, that we forgot to activate Adamantine Armor. Well, I’d still be scared to take that attack even if I had it. And Ayane has the basic version of that skill anyway.
“A knight monster fired a laser beam…”
I say to myself while glaring at it.
“You look amused, darling.”
“Do I?”
“Yes.”
Was I smiling?
I feel an urge to pat Ayane’s head, but contain it.
“Ayane, we can’t just sit here and let it attack us!”
“Yes, we have to pay it back tenfold!”
