“Breaking Fist!”
“Raging Stream Spear!”
Aki and Maki’s combat arts skills signal the start of the battle.
Their techniques turn fish monsters underwater into smoke one after the other. I don’t want them on the front line too much, but their techniques are pretty powerful.
I think I have to check how much they’ve grown, once this is over.
“Crash Tempest!”
Ayane follows them with a big spell from her Wind Magic LvMAX. It’s a localized huge tornado that sucks in water and the monsters in it, ripping them to shreds.
I think I can leave the small and medium monsters that don’t come on land to them. And even if they miss any, Enril or Iris can cover.
With that feeling of relief in mind, I see some shadows making it to land through gaps in their fierce attacks.
‘Ummm!’
‘Ummmm!!’
They’re what Aira called mermen, half fish half humanoid monsters. Their bottom halves are fish, but they can hop on land.
They’re holding tridents, and move in erratic patterns this way, probably because they have legs like that.
They keep coming to the beach, and they’ll take over the spot near the water if we don’t take them down. But since they’re right in front of me and we still have some leeway, let’s check their stats.

“Oh, nice skills. Times two Magic Missile!”
I can’t have them take these down. I blow the heads of the three mermen on shore away, and they turn into smoke that immediately dissipates. Drops are scattered where they were, but others soon come after them and jump this way. The twisted glares on their faces tell me I just gained their resentment.
But I’m not alone.
‘Gogo!’
Enki gets between me and the mermen, and swings its iron fist down.
Boom!
Multiple mermen are crushed and turn into smoke. But the others aren’t deterred, and close to ten push this way. But Enki has powerful equipment, Combat Techniques, and a combat skill.
‘Gogoo!!’
Slash!
The mermen are cut to shreds by an horizontal swing of Enki’s combat arts skill. Even level sixty-five rare monsters are powerless before the weapon and combat arts skill of a unique boss.
I think I can leave this to Enki.
I look around, and see the monsters in the water are steadily going down. The three girls’ hunt is going well, and Enril’s Lightning Strike is scorching monsters underwater.
Sometimes I see what looks like tentacles grabbing fish monsters and pulling them to the depths, which I assume is Iris eating them.
They’re fish, so are they tasty? Let’s ask later.
“So, what have you been up to, Aira?”
I ask the maid standing next to me.
“Doing as I please, as you instructed.”
“…Well, I can’t complain if it works.”
Looking at her closely, I can see afterimages of her sometimes.
That makes sense. She’s been collecting drops from the mermen Enki and I take down, and returning faster than the eye can see before they notice her.
Is this what one can do by being too good at using her speed? I guess Dexterity plays a part too?
“You can do this if you master Shukuchi.”
“And you’re doing it without that, geez.”
“Do you want me to train you if you are interested? Slowly, with great attention to your arms, legs, back…”
“If I feel like it.”
If I say yes to this sort of suggestive thing from Aira, the lessons will start in the middle of the night. And what she’ll do all of a sudden means I’ll have no time to learn anything, and it will keep going until she’s satisfied… I can’t go through that pain again.
“Too bad.”
Says the maid who’s in heat at all times, like she truly thinks it’s too bad.
I look around the battlefield, and realize I don’t see my sisters-in-law. Looking for their presences leads me to notice them standing by in the back, looking exasperated and bored.
“What are you two doing?”
“Nothing, because it doesn’t look like you need us.”
“We don’t want to bother, so we’re standing by.”
Well, I guess we do have enough firepower.
“Still, I’m impressed by Ayane’s growth. She was so weak until a month ago. And now she’s this strong…”
When I met Ayane, she could barely use her Fire Magic Lv3, but now she can rapid fire LvMAX spells. Her Fire Magic is still Lv3, because we haven’t come across monsters that drop it, but the other four are all LvMAX.
A tsunami, small meteorite, and tornado, Ayane can cause great disasters.
“The others also have tremendous power. There really is nothing for us to do.”
“I’m also waiting for the big ones in the back to come.”
Magic, combat arts skills, and tentacles keep turning monsters into smoke, as two giant shadows can be seen in the water. The pressure I feel from here is like that of a certain mountain god. As I picture fighting them on land or in their domain, the water, Aira whispers in my ear.
“Master, is your level advancing as expected?”
“There was a spike when the mermen first appeared, but it’s been steadily going up since then.”
I went from eight to eighty-seven.
All the experience from the monsters going down comes to me. According to Aira, mermen are rare monsters, and the experience sure makes them seem like it. Ten to twenty of them have gone down, so it makes sense that I’ve grown this much.
Ah, I leveled up again.
“We have not tested it until now, but it seems you do get experience from wearers of love necklaces.”
“Yes… I’m glad it’s not one-sided.”
“It is a relief, as a one-sided love might leave you with tears in your eyes.”
“…”
I’m about to say I wouldn’t cry, but my lack of confidence in that leaves me quiet.
“…Master, it seems they are on the move.”
“Finally.”
I look over there, and see the supreme commanders of the stampede showing their faces from the sea.
