Level Gacha ~ It turns out the dump stat 『Luck』 is the most important – Roll 290 – Sea monsters

“Flying Sword – Firebird III!”

When I learned how to use this combat arts skill, I had to use all my boost skills, or it wouldn’t activate. Now that my stats are higher, I can use it in my base state.

Fire enters my sword, and I swing it down hard, releasing a bird of flames that flies towards a Kraken. But this attack is stopped by the tentacles before it reaches its body. Would it have gotten through if I used boosts? But if I use boosts, I’ll have to take them down before they run out, and I’ll get flustered. I need to be prudent at this point.

I can hear the three scorched tentacles sizzling, and the nice smell of grilled squid spreads. It actually looks kind of tasty. Are those tentacles edible?

‘Pururu!’

‘Popo!’

Enril releases wind blades, and Iris shoots out beams as it dangles from Enril. They’re aiming for the burned tentacles, and manage to cut them off. But the cut tentacles turn into smoke and soon disappear.

The source of the nice smell is immediately gone.

‘Pururu…’

‘Popo…’

Both sound disappointed, making me smile. And new tentacles emerge from the cut parts.

“What!?”

That must be the effect of Automatic Recovery and Regeneration.

I try cutting them again a few times, but they always come back after about thirty seconds, and the new tentacles attack. It feels like no matter how many times I do it, the performance of the monster isn’t affected, so I’m assuming damage to the tentacles doesn’t affect the stamina of the main body.

But since it has the Danger Detection skill, it blocks powerful attacks. It’s a pretty annoying enemy.

I’m going to have to get close, but that’s not easy with the barrage of squid ink.

‘Purupuru.’

‘Popo? Popo!’

‘Pururu.’

‘Popopo~.’

Iris sounds disappointed about the delicious looking tentacles that were cut disappearing. Iris doesn’t need to eat to survive, but I think it likes eating anyway.

Monsters turn to smoke right after dying, so surely its stomach doesn’t get full even if it eats them. And yet, it looked satisfied after that all you can eat buffet before… Yes, Iris really is full of mysteries.

I think Enril has been influenced by it, because it’s been eating some stuff too. Enki on the other hand isn’t interested, and would rather watch anime or bathe in sand. It really shows that they have different personalities.

“Cheer up, Iris. There should be drops that won’t disappear even after the enemies are down.

‘Pururu??’

‘Popo?’

“Yes, I’m sure Aira and the others will cook it for us. I’m also interested.”

‘Pururu.!

‘Popopo!’

Iris looks happy, as it starts stretching and retracting while still in Enril’s grasp. Iris has been like this ever since it swallowed that boar whole. Oh well, it’s cute.

“What do we do about this?”

As Enril and Iris fool around, the tentacles are still flying all over the place, and attacking restlessly. And as I think that it’s strangely quiet, I realize this monster doesn’t speak or make any noises. It just keeps silently attacking.

I attack with Crimson Sword and Flying Sword – Firebird here and there, but nothing reaches its body, and its cut tentacles soon regenerate. I have this bad feeling that I’m stuck in an endless loop.

I use Parallel Thinking and Mind Haste to probe for ways to take down the Kraken, but the information I have at this moment tells me I’m just underpowered and don’t have the moves to beat it.

This thing has all sorts of resistances, so neither physical and magic attacks work too well. I think the Mucus Generation skill is part of it. Its body is always coated in something slimy, meaning swords slide off it.

Then I should use elemental attacks rather than purely physical, or attack with such firepower that they go through the resistances. My most powerful attack is definitely Thunder Arrow, but this thing won’t be kind enough to ignore me while I charge it. And if I use it from a distance, there’s a chance it might cause a tsunami.

I could go around it deeper towards the sea to use the technique, and jump into the water if I’m in danger. But since this thing has Muddy Stream Control and Sea Magic, going into the water could checkmate me…

I could also use a times three Magic Missile. No, with Basic Elemental Magic Lv4, it could be times four…

Hum, I try firing three times three Magic Missiles, but nothing reaches its body, because it bundles up its tentacles. This doesn’t have the level or stats of a monster I can’t beat, but the environment and skills limit my options.

This really is a tough opponent.

‘Pururu!’

‘Popo!’

They’re doing their best, but can’t seal the deal either.

Enril learned a combat arts skill, but can’t use it while holding Iris. And if it lets go of Iris, it can’t retrieve it until the enemy is defeated. This also limits our options… Even if I took Iris, it would have to stay on my head or shoulders, and would get in the way…

Then I remember and use a skill I recently learned.

“Ah, that’s right. Weak Point Detection!”

I’ve always been attacking and prodding at openings in order to discover weaknesses, so I completely forgot I learned this skill.

I activate it, and I can see the Kraken’s data regarding our battle until now, as information keeps getting quantified. I also see the defensive power and rate of various parts, what types of attack work, and the guard priorities of each part when attacking the main body. I can see what parts it doesn’t want me to hit.

There’s one spot it doesn’t want attacked, and it’s been prioritizing its defense. Its weakness is… Its eyes!”

“Enril, give me Iris and attack the eyes with full power!!”

‘Poh!’

‘Purun~.’

Enril throws Iris at me, and focuses wind power in one of its wings.

‘…!?’

‘Popo!!’

It unleashes the power of the wind and flaps its wing.

The Kraken rushes to bring all of its tentacles together to hide its face, but…

Slash!

Enril activates its combat arts skill Vacuum Slash.

All the tentacles are cut, leaving its body unguarded. I’m sure those cut tentacles will regenerate soon, but at this moment, there is nothing in the way of attacks.

My aim is already set, and I ready an arrow of purple lightning.

“Pierce it, Thunder Arrow!”

Woosh!

Two lights of purple lightning pierce the Kraken’s eyes.

The idea was for it to focus on Enril while I got ready, and it worked.

‘…!’

This squid hasn’t turned to smoke, and is still writhing even after both eyes were pierced. But I can see smoke coming out of the eyes, and eventually it reaches its limit and its whole body turns to smoke.
