I have a gold and a silver chest in front of me. It’s like they’re insisting that I open them quickly, with the way they’re shining. They’re about fifty centimeters long, wide, and tall. It’s not really what I expected from a gold or silver chest, but their shine is drawing my attention.
I’m both physically and mentally tired, but this is making me forget about that.
But then suddenly I remember something, and look around. Aira is sitting close to me too. Even she’s tired from all this mess.
“Good job Aira. Your support really saved me there.”
“It was an honor to help. And I won’t get tired of the new things I get to experience by your side.”
“That’s nice to hear.”
Ayane has high explosive power, but not great defense. But when Aira is on defense, her power to exterminate goes down… What are we going to do about that…
Well, we can take our time thinking about that. I can see two things by looking at the map. First, there are no goblins around the settlement. Do they stop spawning for a while after the king and the emperor die?
I’m curious, but I’m not feeling well enough to stick around and see.
Second, there are two shining green spots on the map. The location and number tell me it’s the treasure chests. If the map reacts to treasure chests that spawn naturally too, it’s going to be incredibly useful.
I didn’t see Automatic Mapping in the association’s list of skills. When forming a team, there’s usually someone called a mapper, but I have a skill that does that, and it even shows me monsters and people around me. It really is incredibly useful.
But if it shows me where treasure chests are, it’s even more useful than I thought. It’s on par with UR skills. Does it show me treasure chests because it’s II?
Well then, I want to roll the gacha and check the treasure chests right away, but…”
“Aira, can we take treasure chests with us?”
“Yes, but they disappear once their contents are extracted. That goes for both inside and outside a dungeon.”
“I see. I thought they’d make nice decorations.”
“They won’t disappear if you don’t remove what is inside, so if it’s nothing special, you can keep them. Some people do that. But since you were the one who got them, and one is golden, I imagine the contents will be substantial.”
“I see. I’m tired, so let’s leave. Let’s open them with the girls.”
“Understood.”
Aira gets up, and starts collecting items, not looking tired at all. Apparently some of the monsters she defeated dropped items too. Well, she took down close to a hundred, so it makes sense that it happened even with her Luck.
But apparently it’s just magic stones and equipment.
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Right after we return, we go to the exclusive counter, and head to the conference room where the girls are waiting.
There, I see my girlfriends and Ryuu chatting.
“I’m back.”
“Ah, welcome back Shouta.”
“Welcome back… Hum, are you tired? Kyah!”
Maki comes running with a concerned expression, and I hold her and take a deep breath. Maybe I’ll sleep with a hugging pillow for the first time in a while. I feel like I could fall asleep right now.
“S-shouta?”
“Fooling around uh!?”
“Mu, are you really tired, Shouta? Come here.”
Aki motions for me to get closer, strips my equipment, and sits me on the sofa. Then she brings me black tea with plenty of sugar and western sweets, and rubs my shoulders. Meanwhile, Maki is holding my hand the whole time. This really is perfect.
“Should I report, since you are so tired, master?”
“Please do.”
“Well then, if I may. We fought the rare monster King Goblin.”
“Ooh, you really did it!”
“That was expected, but then the second rare monster, Emperor Goblin, also spawned. We defeated it after an intense battle.”
It looks like Aira took notes of their stats without me noticing, and she places them on the table.
“Level fifty-five!? That kind of monster appeared?”
“I’m just glad you made it back, Shouta.”
“Are you hurt!?”
“No, just really tired…”
““Thank goodness…””
They’re both happy, while Ryuu has a sullen expression.
“That is a tremendously strong monster for the first floor. And it was a hard battle even with Aira’s help? This should not be so hard for you.”
“It had a special ability not shown by Appraisal. It summoned goblin corps that appear on the first floor. Fifty spawned the first time, forty the second, and the number kept going down every consequent time. There were general goblins among them, so the boss’ stats went into the four digits for a time.”
Command can buff up to five team members. This means only five can receive those effects. That was what I figured, but… I realized I was mistaken about something when I saw the Emperor Goblin.
Turns out this restriction is only for the side offering the buffs, not for the one receiving it. That means that if there are more than ten general goblins, the one receiving the effects of Command can double its stats and go into the four digits.
That’s a real monstrosity. If the general goblins that are there normally were present along with the rest, it could turn into an unmanageable situation.
“That’s… Like a vision of hell. Good job getting over it.”
Ryuu says words of appreciation, which makes me happy. And then he claps with a bright expression.
“So what about the drops?”
He’s so excited that it feels like he’s a child. I’m taken aback for a second.
“First, we got all the drops from the King Goblin. That means the King Goblin’s magic iron sword and King Goblin’s magic iron armor. As for the skills, they were Great Strength, Super Strength, Iron Wall, and Rampart. Also, the super rare Destructive Wisdom and Regal Pressure. And finally, a silver treasure chest, a crown, and a large magic stone.”
“Oho!!”
Aira takes everything out in turn as she speaks, and Ryuu looks excited.
But I guess it makes sense. You can’t be a branch manager if you don’t get this excited over dropped items even when things are rough. He’s showing me this attitude so I don’t feel discouraged.
“This is incredible!!”
…Surely that’s what it is.
“Next, the Emperor Goblin. It dropped everything shown on Appraisal. Emperor magic sword and emperor magic armor on the equipment side, and the skills Great Strength II, Super Strength II, Iron Wall II, Rampart II, Swordsmanship Lv1, Regal Pressure III, Command III. And also a golden treasure chest and an extra large magic stone.”
“M-marvelous!!!”
…
“There is some information about the King Goblin’s equipment. Despite the magic iron name, it’s stronger than regular magic iron, and more like it’s halfway between magic iron and mithril.”
Maki adds. She’s right, I’ve already used True Appraisal on it. They’re level eighteen, meaning probably above mid level.
“As for the Emperor Goblin’s equipment, it’s completely new. I can’t imagine something found on the first floor would be artifact level, but it’s definitely on par with mithril.”
Says Aki. I also checked this with True Appraisal. They’re level twenty-five, putting them below the mithril sword, but above the armor.
So it’s effective, but… It looks rough. If I wore this, the same thing that happened before would happen again. Yes, I’ll stick to mithril.
I tell that to my girlfriends quietly, and they agree.
“Uncle Ryuu, Shouta is okay with the mithril equipment, so we can sell this new one.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Hum… This boy is good enough to have two adorable exclusives… I will buy it for a fair price. And now I can see your potential quite clearly. If you continue fulfilling those requests, we won’t meddle with privileges regarding items obtained during exploration.”
“Really!?”
“Thank you uncle Ryuu!”
“But since there are many items only found in the beginner dungeon, use my name only when putting items up for auction.”
“Thank you Ryuu.”
So I’m getting the same privileges I have in the Heart Dungeon. That means they have high hopes for me.
