And just as she said, Maki sees me off, along with many adventurers and their jealous stares, as I enter the dungeon.
I want to roll the gacha right away, but I’m hesitant to do it in the association. I don’t know why, but it just feels dangerous.
Thinking back, that conference room is supposed to prevent people from listening in, but the branch manager still heard us from somewhere. Who knows when people are watching in that building? Let’s refrain from rolling the gacha in there.
“Well then, let’s head to that dead-end first.”
That event with Maki means there’s still a lot of attention on me, even inside the dungeon, so I can’t tell who’s actually following me.
And so, I’m going around zigzagging while I make my way towards the dead-end where the hobgoblin spawned.
I can’t afford to stop, so I keep going after defeating the goblins in my way without picking up what they drop. I’m using the map to pick a route without many monsters, and avoiding killer rabbits because it’s hard to kill them instantly.
And so, I arrive at my destination pretty smoothly.
“And as for my pursuers… Yes, it looks like they’re here, but haven’t reached this place yet.
Let’s press the ten spins button while I can.
Clack clack clack
I get three red ones and seven blue ones. As expected, purple ones don’t come out so often.
But I’m still happy to have a few red ones. After all, I always get two or more with each roll.

“Throw? A throwing skill… I don’t have anything to throw.”
“Gigih.”
“Hn? Ah, a goblin.”
I cut it down as always, and hear a metallic sound on the other side of the smoke.
This is kind of an annoying item, because it’s valuable, but bulky.
“…Ah, I could just use this.”
And so, I load up on ‘ammo’, and head to the second floor.
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
“Oh, it really is a plain.”
Once I go down from the first floor, a vast plain extends in front of me. The stairs are on a corner of the map, so If I turn to the side, I see a very long wall of rock. And if I look straight up, I see that it keeps stretching upward, and I can’t see a sky or where it ends.
Maki was right, this place really does feel vast.
The map supplied by the association only has relatively vague descriptions, but it makes sense that it’s hard to accurately measure such a vast floor.
I check out the Automatic Mapping skill, and unlike the first floor, it shows me the range that I can see right now. And in three dimensions too. It works differently than in a cave.
“It looks like it’s going to keep mapping, but it’s hard to say anymore when I don’t know how big this place is exactly… Let’s just follow the wall for now.”
I want to map this place out too, so I’m going to follow the wall to determine where the corners are.
“I heard it was a plain, but it even has small rivers and hills. There’s exposed rock, but also forests… Well, not really forests, but I can see areas with some trees. I see, it won’t be easy to conquer this place.”
I take out my smartphone, and check what monsters appear on this floor as I walk, along with what rare monsters have been confirmed.
1 – Goblin. Spawns mostly in plains or forests. There have been hobgoblin sightings.
2 – Killer rabbit. Spawns mostly near small rivers or forests. No rare monsters have been found.
3 – Hill wolf. Spawn in packs, and are said to be the wall of the second floor. No rare monsters have been found.
4 – Golem. Spawns mostly on vast rock surfaces. Very difficult to see from a distance. No rare monsters have been found.
“Four of them… It’s nice that they each live in different types of fields, but it’s hard to tell just by looking what’s considered a plain or near a small river. I can see a small river in the distance, and there are goblins and killer rabbits right next to each other.”
That sort of combination would be bad if I was trying to take down a hundred of the same kind in a row.
But there are more killer rabbits, so their spawn rate is clearly higher here. I can already see a few.
Should I aim for the killer rabbit’s rare category? There’s no information about one ever being found, but that might be because their spawn rate is lower than the goblins’.
But I still don’t have enough information on the map to pick a good spot to go around hunting.
I’ll just keep following the wall towards a corner. And I’ll keep looking for nice spots while contrasting with the map I have on hand.
And so, I take down the goblins that appear in my way, and keep walking straight forward.
