The third Death Crab goes down, and I’m faced with a Shell Knight for the first time in a few days. Last time, I asked Aira to go on the vanguard for me, but today, I’m only fighting with swords.
This means I’m more used to moving around on the sand, so I go in front, Aira hits and runs, and Ayane goes in the back.
We’re not at all at an advantage. First, the monster’s attack power and techniques greatly exceed what I was expecting. It actually hits me a few times, and after the third time, I have to cast the armor again. Part of it is because of the bad footing, but the biggest problem is that I underestimated its handling of the spear.
When I watched it from afar, it didn’t give me the full picture of how great it is, but now that I’m actually facing it, its highly refined movements are basically toying with me. It’s not like the average monster that just swings its weapon haphazardly, this expert handling of the spear makes it hard for me to even keep up with my eyes.
Even though my stats have gone up, I’m still green when it comes to actual abilities, and I’m now realizing pretty well that I can’t go head-to-head with an experienced warrior. A simple monster just attacks on instinct without any skill to it, but…
Should I learn judo or something?
Also, my attacks lack the power that turns them into decisive blows.
The monster’s armor is too hard. I finished it off before with the great power of the Purple Lightning Arrow, but since I don’t have that now, and I have to rely on hitting it over and over, that ends up being one of the reasons for this fight to drag on.
This monster’s armor really is on a different level compared to anything I’ve seen so far. It really makes me wish I had more firepower outside of the bow.
After a few dozen minutes, the knight’s parasitic armor is in tatters thanks to magic and sword strikes.

I take advantage of an opening given to me by the girls’ support, and plunge my sword deep into its chest.

I hear the knight’s body creak, and smoke bursts from the gaps in its armor. Then the armor also turns to smoke, and suddenly disperses.

I could’ve beaten it much quicker and easier with the Purple Lightning Arrow, but I can’t push it all on Aira, and I wanted to have a real go at it after last time… But unfortunately, I was faced with just how tough its armor is.
Surely the mithril sword won’t get chipped or anything, but they’re about on the same level when it comes to toughness. And since the knight’s whole body is covered in that thing, the sword alone won’t cut it.
Ayane came up with the idea to burn it all at once with Fire Magic and Crimson Sword, and then cooling it quickly with Water Magic, in an attempt to make it more fragile. Since it’s parasitic armor, I imagine that thing is a kind of living being.
It actually went well, but… Without that quick thinking of hers, I would’ve had even more trouble.
“This is also necessary for you darling, so we will accompany you in your training.”
“Precisely. If you stepped back to use the bow because it was easier, I would have made you go forward, even if you had to be forced. Otherwise, this disposition would have surely come back to bite you eventually.”
