“Darling, is that new equipment?”
Ayane looks on with excitement at my third ring.
“There are stars going around…”
“Yes, this is a ring that protects against vertigo. Which I guess means the Werewolf’s roar was vertigo… Probably.”
“No, There’s no doubt to me it was vertigo. It matched what I learned in a status condition lecture.”
“Status condition lecture? That’s a thing?”
“Yes. I had to study to have a good grasp on things Healing Magic can’t fix.”
Study? I’ve been thinking about it lately, power isn’t as helpful without the knowledge to use it well.
“So darling, what else did you get?”
“Assassination Magic is now LvMAX, Elemental Magic Lv3, and I got the new skill Magic Stone Control.”
“Incredible. Then let’s start with Compression!”
“Yes. Okay.”
‘Will you use Skill Compression?’
“Use.”
‘Searching for applicable skills.’
‘Applicable skills not found.’
“Oh… It doesn’t look like it works with Assassination.”
“I see…”
Hm, right now, this skill serves to improve my technique in killing an opponent. No, it’s more like the knowledge of how to target a being’s vital points and incapacitate it is input in my head, and it’s helpful.
I get the feeling this is not the end… Are there other skills I need or conditions to fulfill?
“As for Magic Stone Control, it’s an undocumented skill, so let’s focus on Elemental Magic first! Now you can use giant magic and exclusive magic!!”
“Right, I heard about that.”
I turn my attention to this skill like Ayane says, and it does widen my scope of magic. Now I have the Big series of magic, but I also see a name I don’t recognize.
I feel like it’s not magic of one of the four elements.
“And darling, I looked into Elemental Magic since the last time we talked about it. First, it can be obtained in high difficulty dungeons, and there are only reports of it coming up in treasure chests.
Also, I think you know this, but once learned, there is a risk it will erase magic of the four elements that person has previously learned.”
“I see, so it happens with others.”
“And when it reaches a multiple of three, exclusive magic is added. Apparently it varies from person to person, so it’s said to be random.”
“Oh…”
Ayane wants to know what I can use, so that’s why she’s so excited. But judging by the name, it doesn’t seem to have all that much destructive power… But let’s wait until I actually use it.
“All right… Magic Missile.”
An invisible object appears in front of me.
I can tell it’s there because the space where it supposedly is, is being distorted like a mirage. Is it… A ball?
I try to move it, and it looks like I can control it like the beginner spell Fireball I’ve been using.
Once I move beginner magic, it flies straight ahead, and I can’t control it after that. But I feel like I can use this one to go around an enemy and strike it from the back.
“I know this spell! I think it’s very rare! And it’s very user-friendly, so I think you got something good. Can you see the details?”
“Ah, right. True Appraisal.”
Name: Magic Missile
Grade: Epic
Classification: Elemental Magic Lv3
Description: It uses thirty magic energy to generate a ball of energy that moves as the user wills it. Its performance is also controllable, as more magic energy can be spent to make it bigger and more powerful, with the limit being dictated by the level of the magic.
“Sounds super strong.”
“That’s my darling!”
I picture it going to the limit, three times bigger and more powerful. The space in front of me twists in a wider area, and I feel the intensity increase, but I can also feel it in my skin that the amount of magic energy I spent went up a lot.
I check it again, and get a clear answer.
Name: Magic Missile
Grade: Epic
Classification: Elemental Magic Lv3
Description: It uses two hundred seventy magic energy to generate a ball of energy that moves as the user wills it. Its performance is also controllable, as more magic energy can be spent to make it bigger and more power, with the limit being dictated by the level of the magic.
“…It looks like it eats up a stupid amount of magic energy when I multiply it.”
“Fuwa, that’s crazy… And how powerful is it?”
I fire it at a hill wolf I see far away, and it flies at an incredible speed, obliterating its target.
““…””
That’s overpowered.
Hill wolves only have fifty Constitution. I used two hundred seventy magic energy, so I guess it’s balanced. Even Purple Lightning Arrow spends two hundred.
“It’s a powerful and nearly invisible attack. It falls short compared to Purple Lightning Arrow in terms of speed, but since I can move it with minute adjustments, depending on how I control it, I can even strike an enemy’s back if they dodge it. It really expands what I can do.”
“Yes. We should test later how regular Magic Missiles do.”
“Yes. Let’s do it one step at a time.”
And then, Aira returns. It looks like she saw the Magic Missile.
“Master, what was that?”
“New Elemental Magic.”
“I see.”
She’s quick to accept it.
“I saw monster activity is slowly recovering. Also, it seems the Werewolf’s roar echoed around here, worrying the adventurers you greeted, so I assured them you are all right.”
“Oh dear. Were they affected by vertigo too?”
“No, there was no problem.”
“I see. Thanks.”
As we talk, hill wolves start to surround us, so it looks like we should test the other things later.
“Let’s go for that last set!”
“Yes!”
“As you wish.”
