“It was one thing when they were made of sand, but stone…”
I think it will be fine based on the stats, but I get the feeling that I’m currently not making full use of my stats… Can I block its attacks?
‘Gooooh!’
…I guess we’ll see.
I approach it head on, and attack its legs first.
‘Gagah!’
Fortunately, my sword doesn’t get stuck in it, but it also doesn’t look like losing part of its leg hinders it.
It feels like it’s reacting to my attack, because it swings an arm down faster than before.
Bam!
I cross my swords and block it.
I was ready for it, but I clench my teeth because I feel a weight I haven’t felt before.
“Gunununu…!”
‘Gooo…!’
This attack really has more explosive power than any other monster, but the scary part is the impact the moment it hits. After that, it’s the stats that matter.
Once we’re comparing our raw power, its strength isn’t that scary.
The fact that the ground isn’t sand helps me. With good footing, I can push it back normally!
“Zeryah!!”
‘Goh…!?’
I push it in one go, and clear its giant body away. Then the Stone Golem stumbles, loses its balance, and I dropkick it hard on its boorish head.
It falls with its arms spread, making a loud noise in the process.
Apparently a stone body isn’t as flexible as a sand one, because it doesn’t just reassemble itself to get up. It’s a bit sad how it struggles to get up.
“Ahh…”
I wait a bit, but it doesn’t get up.
The mid air rotating kick I learned from Aki came in handy. Yesterday when we were reviewing things, she said full of expectation that I should be able to pull it off pretty easily with my stats, and Physical Super Strengthening and Martial Arts to boot, so I had to get it on camera.
I’m glad I landed it.
“Ayane, Aira.”
““Yes.””
I have both attack before I finish it off.
‘Goh…!? Ooh…!’
It looks like magic really does work well, as the Big Wind Ball Ayane shoots rips off one of its arms.
And Aira makes use of her weapons, abilities, and technique to slash the other one with her blades.
However, the wound I caused on its leg doesn’t stop it from walking, despite a part of its leg being missing. It was an attack with momentum behind it, so I’m sad to see the clear difference between us.
I guess I really do need to practice to bring out my power…
“Darling?”
“A-ah, sorry.”
“Don’t worry master, I have an idea.”
“Really? I’m counting on you then.”
Aira can see why I look unsure, so I think I can count on her.
I get on top of the Stone Golem, and pierce its core with my sword.
‘Goo…’
【Level up】
【Leveled up from fourteen to fifty-five】
Hm, not quite enough.
“Whoa.”
When I get on the ground and turn around, I see smoke coming out of the core, and the body crumbling and turning to dust. The little pieces that turn into a cloud of dust disappear into the scenery.
But the smoke isn’t disappearing or dispersing, it just stays there.
“Darling!”
Ayane jumps at me like usual, and I hold her and pat her head. Ahh, healing…
“You looked really powerful today!”
“Hahaha, I usually dodge attacks.”
“But take care not to overdo it.”
“Yes, I’ll be careful Aira, thanks.”
“Hehehe.”
We go back down a bit from the rocky mountain, taking some distance from the smoke.
This distance is perfect in case the next one appears. A golem came from a golem, so I can’t imagine something else entirely will appear now. I imagine it will be a bigger one or more violent. Maybe both.
I wonder what’s coming.
“Come to think of it, that Stone Golem had the Sand Control skill. I don’t think it used it, so what is it like?”
“It’s the sand version of the Water Current Control you have. It allows you to freely control sand around you!”
“I believe it did not have the opportunity to use it. It appeared on a rocky mountain with no sand, so it had nothing to use.”
“I see.”
That makes me feel sorry for the monster, because of its bad spawn point. But rocky mountain… From what I can see with Automatic Mapping, it’s right in the middle of the rocky area.
I haven’t thought about this yet, but where are the treasure chests on this floor? I’ve been going around it today and yesterday, but I haven’t seen a green icon.
Could it be like the first floor, and they only appear once conditions are fulfilled? Or is it like the first floor of the Heart Dungeon, and they appear in a different form than treasure chests?
If that’s the case, I don’t know what to do… I could ask the association to throw people at the problem, but I don’t think I should spread this around too much. And maybe I’m just not qualified to find them yet. Hm, I wonder…
Suddenly, I feel an impact that’s like something grabbed my heart.
It’s clearly coming from that smoke. So far, the strongest opponent I’ve taken down was clearly the Shell Knight. But the second time, I was used to it, so I could take it easily with swords or a bow.
But the pressure I feel from that smoke is even more frightening. This is still the second floor of the beginner dungeon, but is something even stronger going to spawn…
The smoke wells up, and a rock giant casually emerges from it.
‘…’
It’s easily over five meters tall, and has a core the size of a human head, that shines eerily as it slowly turns its head towards us.
