After rolling the gacha, we do what tasks we have to do.
Aki and Maki edit videos, and Aira shows capable skills too as she helps them.
I don’t know how to do that, so I start collecting information through the smartphone with Ayane. Of course, I’m looking for information on my new skills, Magic Stone Control, Sand Control, and See Through.
By the way, Ayane is sitting on my lap, using her own smartphone. It’s pretty much her reserved seat now.
“There’s some information about See Through, and I can see some about Sand Control with True Appraisal, but… There’s nothing about Magic Stone Control.”
“Magic stones are a very familiar thing to us. Controlling them should be a pretty important skill, but there’s nothing.”
“We consider it odd that there isn’t. Or maybe we should assume that it’s a gacha exclusive.”
“It’s puzzling.”
We both struggle thinking about it.
If it’s a gacha exclusive, it’s bad that it can’t be read with True Appraisal. Well, Sand Control changes with level, and that also just had a vague description.
“Then how about you try it with the magic stones we have? Thankfully, we have them from minuscule to extra large, and lots of them.”
Says Aki, turning our way from the computer.
“Are you sure?”
“Well, you’re the one who got them. You can do whatever you want.”
“That’s not quite right…”
“Are you worried about our assessment?”
Asks Maki.
“Yes.”
“Don’t worry about it. The association prizes magic stone harvesting more than anything, but the amount you bring in is off the charts. After all, in just a few days… Maybe one day, you sell what a team sells in a month. And you put valuable skills up for auction every time. There won’t be a problem.”
“I see.”
Okay then.
“How many do you need, master?”
Aira is sitting next to me all of a sudden, with her hand in her bag. Yes, even if I have higher stats, I still can’t match her moves. And for some reason, Foresight doesn’t activate either.
This maid really is something special.
“Three of each. Ah, but thirty minuscule ones.”
“Very well.”
She says as she lines them up, along with something else.
“Why did you take out this one?”
“A golem core is a golem’s heart. The equivalent of other monsters’ magic stones.”
“But it dropped a magic stone.”
“I am not sure why. Maybe they use them to store energy.”
Store…
“…Come to think of it, where are magic stones in monsters? I’ve fought a lot of them, but I’ve never tried seeing one in a living monster.”
“There have been experiments about dissecting living monsters, but they were not found in them. Records say magic stones appear when they turn into smoke.”
“Eh, living…? How?”
Whoever did it must be pretty out there, to do something like that in a dungeon.
“No, it was outside of a dungeon. No one would be crazy enough to do that with other monsters around, and without the proper tools.”
“But outside…”
“Yes, normally, it is not possible to take monsters outside. But it is different if it happens spontaneously.”
“…Ah, a dungeon break?”
“Yes. They were captured so their composition could be studied, but there were no magic stones in them, and they turned to smoke when they died. And it was only then that there was a chance that a magic stone appeared.”
“I see. Thanks.”
Aira bows, and goes back to editing. Regardless of the effect of Magic Stone Control, there is no magic stone inside living monsters, so I can’t affect them in battle.
…But what about golems, who have them exposed at all times? Can I do something there?
Anyway, let’s test with minuscule ones.
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
“Hm, no response here either.”
I’ve gone from minuscule to extra large. I’ve held them all, chanted and thought, and even grabbed a handful and put them against my head, but nothing happened.
Anyone watching me now would think I’m a weirdo, but I’m home with my girlfriends who know what I’m doing, so it’s okay.
“Why aren’t they reacting?”
“Is there a problem? Let me try this too and see what happens.”
Golem core, golem core II, and golem core IV. They look like red skill orbs, and their shine means they could pass off as jewels too.
“First, a normal one…”
I grab one, and it feels different from the magic stones somehow. It’s like there’s this vague feeling of a power connecting me to the golem core.
Aira collected them in the dungeon, so I’ve never actually touched one before.
“…Magic Stone Control.”
I say like I’m clinging to it, and feel something like a path. But at the same time, it’s like something’s missing.
But what…?
“Darling?”
Ayane notices that I’m feeling something’s off, and stares at me, so I try to explain this vague feeling.
“…Darling, isn’t that because this is a golem’s heart?”
“What do you mean?”
“There’s nothing for it to use to take shape. A golem… Aira.”
“Yes.”
Aira is next to me all of a sudden again, carrying a big bag. I remember this bag, it’s the dirt I bought to plant the golden seeds.
…Ah, I get it.
“Sand Control.”
I use a skill, and the sand in the bag automatically gathers in front of me. I put some of it on the golem core, and then use Magic Stone control.
A body forms around the golem core, eventually taking the shape of a thirty centimeter tall, kind of misshapen doll.
“Ooh?”
It reacts to the sound I made, tilting its head up. The shape and size are different because of the materials, but it looks just like a golem of the second floor.
“C-cute!”
‘!’
The golem turns to Ayane, like it has a mind of its own, and bows.
Can I… Give it orders?
